1. 間にあいだ（に）(during (the time when); while)
(Rel: ながら；うちに)
2. 彼がテレビを見ている間私は本を読んでいました。
I was reading a book (all during the time) while he was watching
T.V.
3. ばよかった (I wish—had done s.t.) (Rel: てよかった)
4. 先生に聞けば良かった。I wish I had asked my teacher.
5. だけで（は）なくーー（も）(not only—but also--)
(Rel: ばかりで（は）なくーー（も）)
6. ブラウンさんは日本へ行っただけではなく住んだこともあります。
Mr. Brown has not only been to Japan, but has also lived there.
7. ほうがいい (had better do s.t.) (Rel: たらどうですか)
8. 野菜も食べたほうがいいよ。 You’d better eat vegetables too.
9. ほうがーより (--be more (Adj.) than--; --do s.t. more (Adv.) than—
do) (Rel: より)
10. 私が話すほうが君が話すよりいいでしょう。
It’s probably better for me to talk than for you to talk.
11. かわりに (in place of--; instead of; to make up for--; although;
but) (Rel: けれど（も）；しかし)
12. 私のかわりに父が行ってもいいですか。
Can my father go there in place of (instead of) me?
