Establishment of “Michiko So Finegold Memorial Trust”
The Michiko So Finegold Memorial Trust was established in 2013 through a donation by
Lawrence S. Finegold to provide funding support for graduate students and young
professionals in the fields of noise control engineering, noise effects research, and
development of noise policies. The donation was made according to the hope of the late
Mrs. Michiko So Finegold and Mr. Lawrence S. Finegold to encourage young researchers.
Reflecting their intentions, INCE/J plans to operate the trust to provide financial support
for young members to facilitate their travel to national and international professional
meetings and conferences. Since 2013, INCE/J has provided limited funds to students to
partially defray transportation expenses to Autumn Meeting.
【若手支援プログラム】
「荘美知子・ファインゴールド記念基金」の創設について
Lawrence S. Finegold 氏より，パートナーであった故荘美智子氏の遺志を汲み、
日本騒音制御工学会に対して若手研究者の育成・研究支援を目的とした寄付の申
し出があり、標記基金が設立されました。当学会で運用方法を検討した結果，日
本騒音制御工学会春季および秋季発表会への学生会員の参加における旅費に対す
る支援として運用を開始することといたしました。なお，基金の運用方法につき
ましては，国際学会等への参加支援なども含め，若手研究者の育成・研究支援に
有効活用できるよう，今後も検討を続ける方針です。
