5.1Assemblyoftheelectricchainhoistalone
ALWAYS
makesurethatthesupportingstructuresandload-attachingdevicearestrongenoughtoholdthe
weightoftheloadandhoist.
(1)Attachingthechaincontainer
Thechaincontainerisforstoringtheloadchainonnoloadsidewhenaloadhasbeenlifted.The
fittingprocedureisasshowninFig.5-1.Besuretofastenstoringtheloadchain,checkthatthe
stopperisproperlyattachedandfeedintheremainingchaininorder.NEVERputtheload
chainintothechaincontainerallatoncetoavoidlumpingandtwisting.Lumpedortwistedchain
maygiveseriousdamagestovariouspartsofhoist.Additionally,eachchaincontainerindicates
themaximumlengthofloadchainthatcanbestoredinthecontainer.Itisverydangerousto
useachaincontainerwithastoringcapacitylessthanthelengthoftheloadchain,becauseallof
thenecessarychainlengthcannotbestoredinthecontainer.Determinetheloadchainlength
requiredandALWAYSselectachaincontainerwithpropercapacity.

7.3.1Inspectionclassification
(1)Initialinspection:priortoinitialuse,allnew,alteredormodifiedhoistsshallbeinspectedby
adesignatedpersonneltoensurecompliancewiththeapplicableprovisionsofthismanual.
(2)Inspectionprocedureforhoistsinregularserviceisdividedintotwogeneralclassifications
basedupontheintervalsatwhichinspectionshouldbeperformed.Theintervalsinturn
aredependentuponthenatureofthecriticalcomponentsofthehoistandthedegreeof
theirexposuretowear,deteriorationormalfunction.Thetwogeneralclassificationsare
hereindesignatedasdailyandperiodicwithrespectiveintervalsbetweeninspectionsas
definedbelow.
