In the AJE Action Saturday Camps, an English curriculum is delivered each morning from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm with an approach designed to improve confidence in communication and interaction in English. The afternoons are devoted to a variety of activities in an English-speaking environment. In the afternoons, activities, performance arts, and sports are carefully selected to balance educational, cultural, sports, leisure, and outdoor experiences. They are selected to be interesting, to capture the imaginations of the students, to be educationally relevant and fun. As a result, students improve their communication skills in an environment that’s all about applied learning. Our Team of Instructors Our camp instructors and counsellors are from many different cultures and national backgrounds. Their role is to provide the best internationally inspired learning experiences to the camp participants. Our teachers are true professionals. Applied Learning Kids learn at camp by applying what they learn in school in real situations and to accomplish real goals. They use language to communicate in contextually appropriate ways. They learn that different situations require different ways of communicating in order to ahieve success. Camp Sports and Activities One of the highlights of AJE Action Saturdays is the integration of sports and activities. We offer dance, drama, and music, soccer, basketball, baseball, and more. In the spring and summer months, our swimming pool is also open for the camp students. Every Saturday from January to June 2015. Saturday Action Learning Camps Tuition (A-JIS Student) One Day: 10,000 yen 4 Day Multipack: 40,000 yen plus a 5th day free Year Pass: 120,000 yen (22 Saturdays from January to June 2015.) Following the overall theme of “Action”, these classes focus on communicative language skills development—speaking in context: listening, speaking, reading, pronunciation, and writing. Cultural, situational, and linguistic differences in the use of language receive emphasis. We will occasionally have “special Saturday events” that involve presentation and activity-based skills and experiences. For instance, we will occasionally offer activities and events such as rocket launches, remote control vehicle racing, theatrical presentations, and musical/artistic performances. Club Activities require students to participate in small groups focusing on making things. These focuses may include focuses are electronics/robotics, rocketry, model building, and bridge building. Hobby Activities, similar to the Club Activities, require students to learn new skills under the guidance of professional artisans. The hobbies include art, sculpture, drama, pottery, kite making, choir, animation, and movie making. Students are able to enjoy themselves in our swimming pool almost every day of the Camp (depending on the season). The high-end soccer and basketball skills programs are another special highlight of the AJE Saturday Camps. We are excited to have experienced professional international soccer and basketball coaches as part of our Saturday Camp staff. On occasion the students will be taken to visit culture and technology museums around Tokyo. These museum visits follow the themes of our program and are tied into the overall learning objectives of the Camp. These trips are held only a few times per year.
