Application and acceptance procedure
Application
PhD applications will be considered if presented according to the attached model, complete with
the required documentation and signed both by the applicant and the professor(s) supporting
the application (see below).
The application must be sent in hard copy to:

Support of the application
The application must be supported by a professor (full, associate, assistant, titular or adjunct)
who is prepared to take on the role of the thesis supervisor.
Identification of a professor to support the application
Anyone wishing to apply for acceptance to pursue a PhD thesis is required to identify a
professor to support their candidature and to contact that person directly.
Procedure for acceptance
Within two months of receipt of the application, the Doctoral College will recommend the
acceptance or rejection of the same to the Faculty Council. In order to make its decision, the
Doctoral College may speak to the professor who supports the application to learn more about
the topic of research proposed and to evaluate its pertinence to Communication Sciences.
For successful applicants, the Doctoral College will nominate the thesis supervisor (normally the
professor supporting the application) and, in agreement with the thesis supervisor, the other
members of the thesis supervisory council.
