“ASTI NEL SEICENTO. ARTISTI E COMMITTENTI IN UNA CITTÀ DI FRONTIERA".
The exhibition is an exposition-dossier, born from the cooperation between Palazzo Mazzetti
and the University of Turin. It displays works of art by local artists as well as by Italian artists
( as for example P.Paolini from Lucca or A. Pozzo), related to outstanding figures, who
commissioned the pieces. An in-depth analysis will be dedicated to the works of art from
Lombardy and Genoa, surveyed in the research and linked to the events of religious and
political history, as well as to commercial traffic that made the province of Asti a crossroads,
essential to understand the interferences among Piedmont, Liguria and Lombardy.

Regarding Prose we highlight on 17th “Pinocchio”, the famous wooden puppet, protagonist of
the novel written by Collodi and adapted by Ugo Chiti. Regarding the Song Theatre “L’amor
no Bussa” with C. Conte and A. Fullin. Regarding Dance on 5th the Balletto Teatro Torino
will enchant the audience with “Studio per Antigone”, that is the rebellion against the power (

“IL SOGNO E LA VISIONE” – Tribute to FEDERICO FELLINI
After the interesting exhibition of the drawings made by the great film director (20 years after
his death), based on the book “Il Libro dei Sogni”, the film projection continues: on
Wednesday 2nd at Teatro Alfieri “81/2”, history of a film director with an existential and artistic
crisis. On Wednesday 9th at the Sala Pastrone “Nine” by R. Marshall. On 16th at Teatro Alfieri
“Amarcord” depicts a revisited and rebuilt Rimini in the early 1930s. On 23rd the
documentary film “Seguendo la nave di Fellini” by F. Castronovo, who was for more than 10

BUBBIO

POLENTONE – 95th EDITION
The legend tells the story of a group of poor, hungry and tired tinkers that reached Bubbio
and were helped by the Lord of the manor, who offered them maize flour. The “magnin”
(tinkers) cooked an enormous Polenta in the square and ate it with the inhabitants of the
village, who were equally starving due to famine.
Each year the inhabitants of Bubbio re-enact the event: the Lords with the courtiers,
armigers and drummers leave the castle; sacks of flour are loaded on the carts
surrounded by tinkers and cheerful people; the parade winds through the village and
reaches the square where in a huge copper pot the polenta is cooked and served with
sausages, mushroom sauce and an inviting onion omelette. On 26th , the previous
evening, the Serata del Borgo Antico recreates the atmosphere and flavours of ancient

FIERA DEL SANTO CRISTO
The “Fiera del Santo Cristo” (St. Christ’s fair) is named after the statue of the risen Christ,
carved by a German prisoner during the First World War. The statue can be visited in the
church of San Giovanni. The central Piazza Garibaldi hosts the Spring agricultural exhibition
with farming and oenology machineries and devices. On Friday 25th opposite the Foro Boario,
a new appointment dedicated to courtyard animals. Starting at 7.30pm inside Foro Boario the
new initiative “Degustiamo insieme”, suggestions for pairing food specialties with great wines.
On Sunday streets and squares of the historical centre will be invaded by the big market and
the day will be dedicated to the so-called “torta verde”, a typical Easter dish. The novelty of
this year is an area dedicated to plants, flowers and accessories for gardening. Guided tours

On Good Friday Antignano proposes the Way of the Cross. The village centre turns itself into
Jerusalem how it was supposed to be 2000 years ago and employees, professionals,
merchants, artisans, farmers, housewives and students represent the characters of the
Gospels. The re-enactment is divided in two parts: the first one with scenes of the Last
Supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus’ agony, the Sanhedrin trial of Jesus and Pilate’s
Court. The second one with the Procession to Calvary along a path leading to the main
square of the village where, beside the church, the Crucifixion of Jesus takes place. Info:

scuola” organized by Dopolavoro Ferroviario in cooperation with Coop, ANA and with the

At 2.30 a guided, non-competitive walk along the trails recommended by CAI to
discover the surrounding territory, organized by the Sacro Monte di Crea Nature Park.

Benedictin Abbey founded by Aleramo in 961, the parish church safeguarding his grave,
the roman gravestone, P. Badoglio’s birthplace with relics and photo collection.
