Avv.Diego Saluzzo
Diego Saluzzo was born on 26.1.1960 in Turin, where he lives with his wife and two children.
Graduated in Law in 1984 at Turin University he attended in 1985/1986 a Master in Business
Administration at Scuola di Amministrazione Aziendale.
Admitted to Turin Bar since 1988, he is currently a partner of the law firm Grande Stevens, mainly
dealing with:(i)
civil and commercial law;
(ii)
international trade law and commercial agreements;
(iii) joint ventures and transnational co-operative agreements;
(iv)
merger and acquisitions;
(v)
litigations, arbitrations , alternate dispute resolution.
English is used as working language; advice can be provided as well in Italian, French and
Portuguese.
Before his move to private practice, he had a 25 years professional experience as in-house lawyer of
global companies, by managing large multinational legal teams and dealing mainly with corporate
law, international commercial law and antitrust law, namely in respect of M&A in various European
and extra-European countries, including China, India, Latin America, Turkey and South Africa.
Namely since 2008 to 2012 he acted as General Counsel and Senior Vice President General Affairs
of Iveco Group, a global company in the automotive business, dealing with legal, corporate, IP and
real estate matters. Iveco Group is part of Fiat Industrial, a global company operating in the capital
goods market; Iveco is a truck and buses manufacturer with about 25.000 employees working in
about 100 companies and 31 plants, with an yearly turnover of about 10 billion Euro, and it is also
active in the military and firefighting vehicles business.
In that position, directly reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, he managed a team of about 40
professionals located in 12 legal departments, by ensuring legal business support on corporate,
commercial, international and antitrust law, as well as on financial matters ancillary to Iveco core
business, by monitoring and minimizing related legal risks and managing national and international
litigations.
From 2006 to 2008 he acted as General Counsel of COMAU Group, in charge of Legal and
Corporate Affairs and reporting to Comau CEO. Support in restructuring the Comau Group, via
dismissal and sale of many business activity and foreign companies in South Africa, UK, France,
Germany, USA, Romania and Russia, and managing substantial litigations with some main
automotive customers. Comau Group is world-wide leader in sustainable automation and service
solutions with a forward focus, namely in the automotive industry.
As in-house lawyer, he had the lead of many negotiation teams dealing with significant M&A
transactions, including operative JVs in China with SAIC, Yuejin, CBC and Hangzhou Gearboxes
Group, in India with Ashok Leyland and with Tata, in Turkey with Koc Group, in Russia with
Uralaz, Gaz and Sollers Group, in Serbia, Poland, Hungary and Chzech Republic with local
manufacturers and Governments. On the other side many M&A, licensing and financial transactions
were managed by him in Europe, India, China, Far East, Australia, USA, Canada, South Africa,
Brazil, Argentina and Venezuela.
Member of AIGI, International Bar Association, InterPacific Bar Association, Union International
des Avocats and International Law Association.
Member of national and international panels for mediation and arbitration, where he attended
habilitation and adjournment training courses (included International Arbitration Chamber of
Commerce in Paris, Milan and Camera Arbitrale del Piemonte).
Lecturer for many public and private institutions, including Luiss, Scuola Amministrazione
Aziendale di Torino (“SAA”), Università degli Studi di Torino – LLM in International Trade Law,
Diego Saluzzo has been appointed as “cultore della materia” in Diritto dei Contratti internazionali
(“International Contracts”) by Dipartimento di Giurisprudenza – Università degli Studi di Torino.
Author of about 180 articles on legal magazines on various subjects and co-author of books
published by Il Sole 24 Ore and Kluwer Group dealing with international commercial law subjects,
