Un altro anno è arrivato!
Un altro anno è arrivato, come tutti gli altri, quasi senza farcene accorgere, eppure
abbiamo un anno in più.
Ciascuno di noi ha cercato di lasciarsi dietro tutte le amarezze accumulate nell’anno
passato, cercando di portare con sé le gioie e le cose belle che l’anno, ormai andato,
gli ha regalato.
Non è stato un anno molto fortunato, il 2013, per il nostro Paese. I nostri corregionali
in Italia, e quelli che ci leggono da fuori i confini nazionali, lo sanno molto bene.
Una crisi forte, incalzante, preoccupante, non solo dal punto di vista economico ma
soprattutto da quello politico. Non si riesce a dare, come si suole dire, la dritta al
nuovo cammino che dovremmo prendere.
Il Paese continua a combattere con una difficile ripresa.
La società tarda a reagire agli attacchi che le provengono dai rami della sua stessa
radice che diventano molto spesso malati e impossibilitati a produrre frutti buoni.
La pubblica amministrazione sembra ormai assuefatta all’andazzo generale che non
consente balzi di originalità e di chiarezza.
In tale contesto la nostra regione sembra dover recitare, per sua natura, un ruolo
ancora più difficile perché oltre a doversi difendere dagli attacchi ingiusti e sciocchi
che provengono dall’esterno, sotto ogni forma, deve organizzare la reazione, l’attacco perché non resti, in vari settori dell’economia e dello sviluppo, indietro rispetto
al resto d’Italia.
Ecco perché il sapere che abbiamo tanti calabresi, sparsi nel mondo, che credono
ancora nelle capacità di riscatto di questa terra, ci fa sentire orgogliosi e, allo stesso
tempo, più impegnati in quest’opera di risanamento sociale ed economico che la
Regione sta portando avanti.
Ecco perché non cesseremo mai di sollecitarvi a stimolarci, anche attraverso questa
rivista, con i vostri suggerimenti, le vostre sollecitazioni, le vostre richieste, affinché
possiamo sempre essere per voi motivo di compiacimento per quanto viene fatto
così come voi siete motivo di vanto per quanto avete fatto e continuate a fare là dove
risiedete.

Another year has arrived!

Another year has come, like all the others, and without noticing we are a year older.
Each of us has tried to leave behind all the bitterness accumulated over the past year, but at the
same time trying to keep hold of the joys and the good things that the year now gone gave him.
2013 has not been a very lucky year for our country. Our fellow countrymen in Italy, and those
who read us from outside our national borders know it very well. A harsh crisis, pressing and
worrying, not only from the economic point of view, but above all politically. One is unable to
give, as they say, to decide which path one should take. The country continues to struggle with a
difficult recovery.
Society has been slow to react to the attacks that are coming from its same source and whose branches have now become too sick and unable to bear any good fruit.
The public administration now seems addicted to bad habits that does not allow for quality jumps
in terms of clarity and originality. In this context, our region, by its geographical nature it seems,
is expected to assume an even more difficult role because in addition to having to defend itself
from foolish and unjust attacks that originate from outside its borders, it must organize its response
so that it does not remain behind the rest of Italy in various sectors of the economy and general
development. That is why we know many originating from Calabria and based all over the world
who still believe in the abilities of redemption of this earth, making us feel proud and at the same
time, more engaged in this work of social and economic rehabilitation that the region is carrying
forward. That is why we shall never cease to urge you to encourage us, even through this magazine,
with your suggestions and requests, so that we can always be for you a source of satisfaction for
what is being done, just like you are a source of pride for us for what you have accomplished and
continue to do where you are currently living.

INTERNAZIONALE DEL TURISMO 2014
Scopelliti: “aumentano turisti stranieri, ora nuovi flussi
con crociere ed aeroporti”
N
el 2013 la Calabria ha registrato oltre 1.600.000 presenze
straniere. Un incremento dovuto soprattutto alla presenza
dei turisti provenienti dalla Russia, che
sono triplicati rispetto al 2011. I turisti
italiani censiti nelle strutture ricettive regionali sono stati invece circa 1.200.000,
e provengono soprattutto dalla Campania
e dal Lazio. Dal nord arrivano in prevalenza dalla Lombardia. Il dato si evince
dal XIII Rapporto sul Turismo della Regione Calabria, presentato a Milano in occasione della Bit, la Borsa Internazionale
del Turismo, dal Presidente della Regione
Giuseppe Scopelliti e dal dirigente generale del Dipartimento Turismo Pasquale
Anastasi. All’incontro hanno preso parte il Presidente del Consiglio regionale
Francesco Talarico, Mariza Righetti, coordinatrice area ricerca del sistema infor-

mativo turistico della Regione, Roberto
Rocca, direttore generale del dipartimento turismo del Mibac ed Andrea Babbi,
direttore generale dell’Enit, l’agenzia nazionale del turismo. La Calabria, nel 2013,
ha battuto il suo record di presenze estere,
segno evidente che il percorso intrapreso
dalla Regione per rendere il suo territorio
ancor più competitivo in Italia e all’estero sta dando frutti concreti. I dati, forniti
dalle Province, sono stati elaborati dal Sit,
il sistema turistico regionale, da Maurizio

Il flusso degli arrivi in Calabria nel 2013
è stato di 1,472 milioni per un totale di
circa 8 milioni di pernottamenti. Gli stranieri che hanno alloggiato in strutture
ricettive calabresi sono stati 254.300 circa, fermandosi mediamente 6,54 giorni
e producendo 1,663 milioni di presenze,
quantità storicamente mai raggiunta. I turisti italiani censiti nelle strutture ricettive
regionali sono stati circa 1,218 milioni,
determinando 6,339 milioni di pernottamenti. di un territorio in una logica dove
risorse, territorio e strutture dell’offerta
vengono integrati in un unico sistema
che assume duplice valenza: da una parte
far sì che il prodotto turistico locale sia
percepito univocamente dalla domanda,
dall’altro generare vantaggi per gli operatori in termini di economie di scala, di
specializzazione, di apprendimento in
modo da differenziare il prodotto rispetto
alla concorrenza. Con l’ausilio di tutti gli
interessati e gli strumenti a disposizione
(normativi, procedurali, programmatori)
si può raggiungere il comune obiettivo:
promuovere e valorizzare le realtà socio
economiche dell’intera Calabria.

L’elemento caratterizzante della stagione turistica è la variazione degli arrivi
di stranieri rispetto all’anno precedente,
+4%, tendenza più marcata rispetto all’incremento delle presenze (1,1%), per via
di una diminuzione della permanenza media (-0,2%). L’incidenza percentuale dei
turisti stranieri in termini di arrivi è del
17,3% generando il 20,8% dei pernottamenti. La provincia con il più alto grado
d’internazionalizzazione è quella di Vibo
Valentia con il 43,4% di presenze straniere, mentre le province di Cosenza (8,6%)
e quella di Crotone (5%) accolgono quasi
esclusivamente turisti nazionali. Gli stranieri preferiscono le coste e in particolare
il litorale Tirrenico con il 76,7%. Il 91,5%
delle presenze prodotte dai turisti in Calabria si individua sulla costa, mentre
l’8,5% dei pernottamenti si registra nelle
aree entroterra e montagna. La nazione da
cui hanno origine i flussi maggiori diretti
in Calabria è la Germania, con il 26,6%
di arrivi e il 31,3% dei pernottamenti,
Paese che nell’ultimo anno ha fatto registrare un ulteriore aumento dei flussi del
3,5% (pari a circa 50 mila pernottamenti
in più rispetto al 2012). Si assiste anche
ad un incremento dei flussi provenienti
dalla Polonia e dal Belgio mentre si registra una contrazione dei turisti provenienti dalla Francia, Svezia, Austria, Regno
Unito, Repubblica Ceca trattandosi tuttavia di valori assoluti bassi tali variazioni
hanno una rilevanza minima sul movimento turistico complessivo. In termini
di crescita percentuale per la produzione
di arrivi verso la Calabria si distingue
notevolmente la Russia (+166,9% arrivi,
+114,3% i pernottamenti, che in termini
assoluti significa un incremento di circa
10.195 arrivi e 68.974 pernottamenti). Il
sistema ricettivo calabrese è composto
da 2.888 esercizi ricettivi e 187.845 posti
letto. Gli alberghi rappresentano il 28,5%
degli esercizi ricettivi e il 54,7% dei posti
letto, gli esercizi complementari rappresentano il 71,5% degli esercizi e il 45,3%
dei posti letto. “Il Governo regionale – ha
affermato il presidente Scopelliti – considera il turismo uno dei settori strategici
per lo sviluppo economico della Calabria
e ha individuato una serie di interventi a sostegno alla crescita del comparto.
Questa Amministrazione ha risposto in
maniera efficace alla necessità di definire
modalità adeguate per aumentare i flussi
turistici e ha puntato, con convinzione, a
promuovere l’offerta turistica calabrese
nelle principali fiere mondiali di settore,
creando le condizioni per rafforzare le
strategie di promozione e di miglioramento della cultura dell’accoglienza che
hanno già prodotto effetti concreti e rappresentano la strada giusta per continuare
a incrementare la presenza di turisti nel
nostro territorio.

BETWEEN ART, CULTURE AND EXCLUSIVE DESTINATIONS: CALABRIA PROTAGONIST AT THE INTERNATIONAL
TOURISM EXCHANGE 2014. SCOPELLITI: “AN INCREASE IN FOREIGN TOURISTS, THANKS TO NEW CRUISES
AND FLIGHT CONNECTIONS”

In 2013 Calabria has registered more than 1,600,000 foreign tourists. The increase can be attributed mainly to the presence of tourists from Russia, which
have tripled since 2011. Italian tourists in regional accommodation establishments surveyed were approximately 1,200,000, and came mainly from Campania and Lazio but also from Lombardy further up north. The figures are taken from the XIII Report on Tourism for the Region of Calabria, presented in
Milan on the occasion of the BIT, the International Tourism Exchange, by the President of the Region Giuseppe Scopelliti and the director general of the Department of Tourism Pasquale Anastasi. The meeting was attended by the President of the Regional Council Francesco Talarico, Mariza Righetti, regional
coordinator of the research area for the tourist information system, Roberto Rocca, Director General of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Andrea Babbi
Director General of ENIT, the agency of national Tourism. Last year, Calabria beat its previous record of foreign visitors, a clear sign that the route taken by
the State to make its territory even more competitive in Italy and abroad is giving concrete results. The data provided by the provinces was drawn from the
Sit, the regional tourism system by Maurizio Biasi, statistical area coordinator and Marco Borgese coordinator for regional communication and in charge of
drafting the portal turiscalabria.it. The flow of arrivals in Calabria in 2013 was 1.472 million, for a total of about 8 million overnight stays. Foreigners who
have stayed in Calabrian accommodation were approximately 254,300 stopping on average 6.54 days and producing 1,663 million admissions, a figure that
had never been reached before. Italian tourists in regional accommodation establishments surveyed were about 1.218 million, resulting in 6.339 million
overnight stays. A logic were resources incorporate territorial and supply structures, integrating them into a single system that assumes a dual role: on the

and the tools available (regulatory, procedural programmes) one can reach a common goal: to promote and enhance the socio-economic reality of Calabria.
The main feature of the past tourist season is the variation in arrivals of foreigners over the previous year, up by 4%, a trend that is more pronounced than
the increase in admissions (1.1%), due to a slight decrease in the average length of stay (- 0.2%). The percentage of foreign tourists in terms of arrivals is
17.3%, generating 20.8% of overnight stays. The province with the highest degree of internationalization is Vibo Valentia with 43.4% of all foreign visitors,
while the provinces of Cosenza (8.6%) and that of Crotone (5%) included almost exclusively domestic tourists. Foreigners prefer the coast, in particular the
Tyrrhenian coast with 76.7%. 91.5% of arrivals made by tourists in Calabria can be identified as preferring the coast, with 8.5% of overnight stays recorded
in the inland and mountain areas. The nation where most of our tourists originate from is Germany, with 26.6% of arrivals and 31.3% of overnight stays - a
country that in the last year has seen a further increase in arrivals of 3.5% (approximately 50 thousand nights more than in 2012). There was also an increase
in arrivals from Poland and Belgium, while there was a decline in tourists from France, Sweden, Austria, the United Kingdom and the Czech Republic, however, since the absolute values of these changes were relatively low, they exerted little influence on total tourist figures. In terms of percentage increase in
arrivals to Calabria no other country beats Russia (+166.9% arrivals, overnight stays +114.3%, which in absolute terms means an increase of about 10,195
arrivals and 68,974 overnight stays). Calabrian accommodation is made up of 2,888 accommodation establishments and 187,845 beds. Hotels account for
28.5% of all accommodation establishments and 54.7% of the beds, with the rest of accommodation making up 71.5% of the total number of establishments
and 45.3% of beds. “The regional government,” said president Scopelliti, “considers tourism as one of the strategic sectors for economic growth in Calabria
and identified a series of measures to support the growth of the sector. This Administration has responded effectively to the need to define in an appropriate
manner so as to increase the flow of tourists and is striving to promote tourism to Calabria in major international fairs of the sector, creating conditions for
strengthening promotion strategies and a general improvement of the regional culture that has already produced concrete results and represents the right
way to continue to increase the presence of tourists in our area.”

aranno otto, per adesso, le Case
della Salute che sorgeranno in Calabria. La Regione ha già in progetto di estenderle agli altri presidi
ospedalieri dismessi, utilizzando i finanziamenti delle nuova programmazione
comunitaria. Attualmente, dopo la ratifica
degli studi di fattibilità, con decreti del
Presidente della Regione Giuseppe Scopelliti, nella sua qualità di Commissario
ad acta per il Piano di rientro, approvati
dalle Asp competenti, sono state firmate le
convenzioni relativamente alle Case della
Salute di Chiaravalle Centrale, Siderno e
San Marco Argentano. Queste tre realtà
sono state prese a modello per la realizzazione, in base al Dpgr n. 135/2011, della
rete territoriale delle Case della Salute,
così ripartite: quattro in provincia di Cosenza: Praia a Mare, Trebisacce, San marco Argentano, Cariati; due nella provincia
di Reggio Calabria: Scilla, Siderno; una
nella provincia di Catanzaro: Chiaravalle
Centrale; una nella provincia di Crotone:
Mesoraca. Le Case della Salute verranno realizzate negli ex presidi ospedalieri
riconvertiti in virtù del Piano di rientro
con l’eccezione di Mesoraca che sarà
collocata in una piattaforma già esistente. I modelli organizzativi (di tre livelli
dimensionali diversi) sono stati oggetto
di uno studio della Regione, realizzato in
collaborazione con il Formez, nell’ambito del Programma operativo di assistenza
tecnica salute (Poat Salute). Lo studio,
che sarà la guida per la realizzazione delle
rimanenti Case della Salute, corrisponde
a quanto previsto dai Tavoli ministeriali
e dalla Comunità Europea che finanzierà
con proprie risorse le strutture sanitarie.
Effettivamente, su circa 127 milioni di
euro, si può disporre di 67.500 milioni di
fondi Por/Fers 2007/2013, anche se inizialmente erano previsti ulteriori 60 milioni sui Fondi Par/Fas che al momento,
però, non sono utilizzabili. Le Case della
Salute costituiranno il punto di riferimento sanitario e sociale della cittadinanza
negli ambiti territoriali dove sono previsti
e diventeranno un nuovo modello di cure
primarie alternativo al ricovero ospedaliero. Attualmente sono state impegnate le
somme (circa 30 milioni di euro) per la realizzazione dei tre modelli di riferimento
(Siderno, Chiaravalle e San Marco Argentano) oltre a quella di Scilla per la quale
è stato già redatto lo studio di fattibilità.
Le Aziende sanitarie provinciali coinvolte sono già all’opera per la realizzazione
della prima parte della convenzione, ovvero la verifica dell’integrità sismica degli
immobili (ex presidi ospedalieri) presi in
considerazione. Inoltre, è stato realizzato
un documento recante le linee guida relative all’informatizzazione delle Case
della Salute nel complessivo sviluppo
del Sistema informativo sanitario regionale, del Fascicolo sanitario elettronico e
della Telemedicina. Le Case della Salute
rappresentano, infatti, una importante

della realizzazione della rete territoriale
delle Case della Salute è il potenziamento
della medicina territoriale per avvicinare
l’assistenza primaria alla cittadinanza. In
pratica, nelle Case della Salute si svolgeranno le cure primarie insieme ad attività
di prevenzione, di diagnosi e cura di tipo
territoriale (specialistica ambulatoriale),
di riabilitazione, di tutela della salute mentale, di cura delle dipendenze patologiche,
di screening, di vaccinazioni, di consultori familiari ecc.. Attraverso il Punto unico

di accesso (Pua) si realizzerà una presa in
carico globale dei cittadini con la messa a
disposizione dell’offerta sanitaria e sociosanitaria alternativa all’ospedale, compresi i presidi dell’emergenza-urgenza.
Secondo il modello organizzativo la gestione del percorso diagnostico-terapeutico sarà affidato direttamente ai medici di
medicina generale ed ai pediatri di libera
scelta in coordinamento con altri professionisti sanitari e con gli specialisti ambulatoriali. La presa in carico sarà h24
attraverso una gestione che è in linea con
le indicazioni della normativa nazionale
in materia di aggregazioni funzionali dei
medici di medicina generale e dei pediatri
di libera scelta.

THE STRENGTHENING OF PRIMARY CARE THROUGH THE BIRTH OF HEALTH CENTRES

There will be eight health centres that will be available in Calabria for the time being. The region already has plans to extend
them to other abandoned hospitals by using the funding of the new community programme. Attualmente, dopo la ratifica degli
studi di fattibilità, con decreti del Presidente della Regione Giuseppe Scopelliti, nella sua qualità di Commissario ad acta per
il Piano di rientro, approvati dalle Asp competenti, sono state firmate le convenzioni relativamente alle Case della Salute di
Chiaravalle Centrale, Siderno e San Marco Argentano. Queste tre realtà sono state prese a modello per la realizzazione, in
base al Dpgr n. 135/2011, della rete territoriale delle Case della Salute, così ripartite: quattro in provincia di Cosenza: Praia a
Mare, Trebisacce, San marco Argentano, Cariati; due nella provincia di Reggio Calabria: Scilla, Siderno; una nella provincia
di Catanzaro: Chiaravalle Centrale; una nella provincia di Crotone: Mesoraca. As soon as feasibility studies were ratified as
per decree of the President of the Region, Giuseppe Scopelliti (in his capacity as Commissioner ad acta for the repayment
plan, as approved by the competent Asp), conventions with regard to the health centres of Chiaravalle Centrale, Siderno
and San Marco Argentano were immediately signed. These three health centres have actually been taken as a model for the
creation, according to DPGR n. 135/2011, of the branch network of provincial health centres, broken down as follows: four
in the province of Cosenza Praia a Mare: Trebisacce, San Marco Argentano, Cariati; two in the province of Reggio Calabria:
Scilla and Siderno; one in the province of Catanzaro: Chiaravalle Centrale, and one in the province of Crotone: Mesoraca.
These health centres will be built in former hospitals converted by virtue of the repayment plan with the exception of Mesoraca which should be located into an existing platform. The organizational models (composed of three different dimensional
levels) have been the subject of a study of the region, in collaboration with Formez, as part of the Operational Programme of
Technical Health Assistance (Health Poat). The study, which will be the guide for the implementation of the remaining health
centres, corresponds to the provisions of the ministerial tables and by the European Community with its own resources to
finance healthcare facilities. Indeed, out of approximately 127 million Euro, we can utilize 67.5 billion of Por/Fers 2007/2013
funds, although we were initially promised a further 60 million Euro Par/Fas funds at the moment, however, not be used. The
health centres will constitute the benchmark for health and social citizenship in the target areas where they are found and will
become a new model of primary care: an alternative to hospitalization. Currently approximately 30 million Euro have been
pledged for the construction of the three reference models (Siderno, Chiaravalle and San Marco Argentano) as well as that of
Scilla for which a feasibility study has already been carried out. The provincial health agencies involved are already working
towards the realization of the first part of the agreement, or better the verification of the seismic integrity of the properties
(ex hospitals) have been taken into account. In addition, it a document has been created, containing guidelines for the computerization of the health centres as part of the overall development of the regional health information system, the Electronic
Health Record and Telemedicine. The health centres are, in fact, an important technological innovation and will be equipped
with the most advanced systems for the management of administrative/accounting procedures and management of diagnostic
and therapeutic procedures. The management tool available to operators will be represented by the use of electronic medical
records integrated with the Electronic Health Record and the electronic prescriptions system. The objective of the creation
of a regional network of health centres is the strengthening of the primary care to make it easily accessible to citizens. In
practice, the diagnosis and treatment on a regional basis (specialist outpatient treatment), rehabilitation, mental healthcare,
treatment of addictions, screening, vaccinations, family counselling, etc will be carried out in health centres, in conjunction
with the primary care prevention unit. Through this single point of access (Pua), the provision of health and social services
as an alternative to the hospital, including emergency services will become a reality. According to the organizational model,
the management of the diagnostic-therapeutic areas will be directly in the hands of general practitioners and paediatricians,
in coordination with other health professionals and roaming specialists. The take-over will be 24/7 through a management
that is in line with the guidelines of the national legislation in the field of functional aggregations for general practitioners
and paediatricians.

questo obiettivo si è svolta a Montreal il workshop “Settore Turismo Destinazione Calabria”, al quale ha partecipato
l’assessore regionale all’Internazionalizzazione Luigi Fedele. La missione rientra negli interventi previsti dal “Progetto
Paese Canada”, in la collaborazione con
la Camera di Commercio italiana in Canada di Montreal e con la stretta sinergia
dell’ente camerale di Cosenza. “Sono
stati oltre ottanta gli operatori presenti al
workshop di presentazione che si è svolto
presso l’Istituto del Turismo del Quebec
a Montreal – ha dichiarato l’assessore Fedele nel corso del suo intervento – tutti
hanno dimostrato un forte interesse per
una destinazione che deve fare conoscere al meglio le proprie bellezze presso il
mercato canadese. Al contempo, da parte
della Regione Calabria esiste un concreto
interesse a promuovere il territorio calabrese su un mercato dalle forti potenzialità quale quello canadese ed in particolare
della provincia del Québec”. Le nuove offerte riguardano un soggiorno ‘long stay’
con attrattore mare, un pacchetto con la
formula ‘self drive chiavi in mano’, un
percorso di scoperta del territorio calabrese associato ad una regione limitrofa
con un ‘brand’ già affermato sul mercato
nord americano che consente di facilitare
la promozione del nostro territorio presso il consumatore canadese. L’elemento
attrattore delle tre nuove offerte è costituito, essenzialmente, dall’enogastronomia
regionale. Ed è proprio alla promozione
dell’enogastronomia provinciale che la
Camera di Commercio di Cosenza ha
dedicato uno show cooking degustazione
nel corso del quale sono stati presentati i prodotti del paniere ‘è Cosenza’ già
introdotti sul mercato con l’obiettivo di
sostenerne e rafforzarne la presenza sul
mercato. Numerosi sono infatti i prodotti cosentini disponibili nelle boutique
alimentari canadesi, tra i quali: provola,
pecorino, caciocavallo silano, salumi,
‘nduja, liquirizia, fichi secchi, sottoli, origano, olio, vino e liquore al cioccolato.
All’evento canadese, oltre all’assessore
Fedele, era presente Donatella Romeo,
segretario generale della CCIAA di Cosenza e responsabile servizi all’internazionalizzazione dell’ente Bruzio che, nel
portare i saluti del Presidente Gaglioti, ha
rimarcato come l’azione camerale in Canada, avviata dal 2009 stia dando importanti risultati, non solo nei settori più tradizionali del territorio, ma anche in nuovi
importanti settori emergenti quale quello

Promoting the new travel packages Destination Calabriawith Canadian travel agencies. This was the main goal of the Montreal workshop “The Tourism
Industry: Destination Calabria”, which was attended by the Regional Councillor for Internationalization Luigi Fedele. The mission forms part of the operations covered by the project “Country Canada”, in collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Montreal and with the close collaboration of
the Chamber of Cosenza. “There were over eighty operators present at the workshop presentation which took place at the Institute of Tourism of Quebec
in Montreal,” said Commissioner Fedele during the course of his speech. “All have shown a strong interest in a destination that has made known its most
beautiful to the Canadian market. At the same time, from Calabria there is a real interest in promoting the Calabrian territory to a market with strong potential
such as the Canadian market, particularly the province of Quebec.” The new travel offers consist of: a ‘long stay’ with the sea as a main attraction; a package
known as ‘self drive’; a journey of discovery of the Calabrian region together with a neighbouring region with a ‘ brand ‘ already established on the North
American market allowing one to facilitate the promotion of our country with the Canadian consumer. The main feature of these three new package offers
essentially revolves around the food and wine of our region. This is precisely why the provincial Chamber of Commerce of Cosenza has dedicated a cooking
and tasting show during which they introduced products from the basket ‘This is Cosenza’, already introduced in the market with the goal of supporting and
strengthening market presence. In fact there are numerous Cosenza products available in Canadian food boutiques, including: provola, pecorino cheese, caciocavallo silano, cold cuts, ‘nduja, liquorice, dried figs , pickles, oregano, olive oil, wine and chocolate liqueur. Apart from Councillor Fedele, the Canadian
event was also attended by Donatella Romeo, general secretary of the Chamber of Commerce of Cosenza and responsible for the internationalization of the
Bruttium entity, who, in conveying greetings from President Gaglioti, remarked how the work of the Chamber in Canada, started in 2009, is giving important
results not only in more traditional sectors of the territory, but also in new emerging sectors of relative importance such as that of information technology.

innamorare Fulvio Lucisano e Luca Zingaretti
BIOGRAFIA
DOMENICO GANGEMI, da tutti conosciuto
come “Mimmo”, è nato il 19 ottobre del 1950
a Santa Cristina d’Aspromonte, in provincia
di Reggio Calabria. Diventa Ingegnere civile e ingegnere clinico ma, ben presto, mette
e frutto il suo innato desiderio di scrivere. I
suo primi romanzi sono “Un anno in Aspromonte” (Rubbettino, 1995) “Quell’acre odore
di aglio” (REM Edizioni, 1998) - “Pietre nel
Levante” (La città del Sole, 2000) – “Il passo
del cordaio” (Il sole 24 ore , 2002)“25 Nero”
(Pellegrini Editore, 2004). Consacratosi tra i
grandi scrittori italiani, nel 2009 viene pubblicato “Il giudice meschino”, edito da Einaudi.
L’opera, osannata dalla critica, ottiene talmente tanti premi e riconoscimenti da suscitare l’interesse del produttore cinematografico
Fulvio Lucisano che, in collaborazione con
la Rai, decide di sceneggiarlo e produrre una
fiction. Nel 2011 arriva in libreria “La signora di Ellis Island” (Einaudi) e nel 2013 viene pubblicato “Il patto del giudice”, edito da
Garzanti, già opzionato per l’eventuale serie
televisiva legata a “Il giudice meschino”.

Santa Cristina d’Aspromonte, in the province
of Reggio Calabria. He become a Civil and
Clinical engineer, but soon started to put his
innate desire to write to good use. His early
novels are “ Un anno in Aspromonte” (Rubbettino , 1995); “ Quell’acre odore di aglio”
(Edizioni REM, 1998); “Pietre nel Levante”
(La città del Sole, 2000); “ Il passo del cordaio” ( Il Sole 24 Ore , 2002); “Nero 25” (Pellegrini Editore, 2004). Annointed among the
great Italian writers, in 2009 he published “Il
giudice meschino”, by Einaudi. The work was
highly acclaimed by critics, and got so many
awards and accolades that it aroused the interest of film producer Fulvio Lucisano, who
in collaboration with Rai, decided to produce
a fiction series. In 2011, “La signora di Ellis
Island” (Einaudi) arrived in bookstores and in
2013 “ Il patto del giudice” was published by
Garzanti. This last literary work has already
been lined up as a possible follow up to the
television series “Il giudice meschino.”
“Ogni forma d’arte raggiunge il proprio
obiettivo solo se suscita sensazioni nelle
persone”. Parola dello scrittore calabrese Mimmo Gangemi. Conversare con lui
è già di per sé emozionante. Bastano il
tono di voce, l’accento e l’inflessione per
far trasparire il radicamento al territorio,
l’amore per la Calabria, la semplicità di
chi vive la notorietà senza modificare minimamente il proprio modus vivendi. Da
buon aspromontano, Mimmo Gangemi è
un uomo disponibile, schietto ma pacato,
a cui si può rivolgere qualunque domanda.
- A giorni andrà in onda su Raiuno
“Il giudice meschino”. Quali emozioni
ha provato nel vedere il suo romanzo
prendere forma anche tramite le telecamere?
E’ stata una sensazione molto strana ma
positiva. Sono linguaggi differenti Per
descrivere un luogo o uno stato d’animo
o un personaggio a uno scrittore occorrono parole su parole, in televisione bastano i pochi secondi di un’immagine.
Si tratta di due forme d’arte diverse,
nell’impatto e nella tecnica, ma sono orgoglioso del lavoro svolto e molto soddisfatto perché il senso del romanzo rimane fedele anche nella fiction. Aspetto di
vedere il prodotto finito, perché le scene
non vengono mai girate in ordine cronologico. A quanto si sussurra, la qualità
del progetto è addirittura superiore alle
aspettative.
- Pare che questo sia solo il primo atto
di una nuova fiction.
L’auspicio è che possa diventare una serie televisiva ed io ho già firmato l’opzione per “Il patto del giudice”. Ci sono tutte
le premesse per fare bene, il regista ed
il cast sono eccezionali, Luca Zingaretti ha dimostrato ancora una volta la sua
versatilità per cui non ho dubbi sul fatto
che questa storia, divisa in due puntate,
avrà grande successo. Voglio ringraziare
anche il Governatore della Calabria Scopelliti, che ha creduto molto in questo
progetto, con la lungimiranza di chi comprende quanto tali strumenti siano formi-

dabili per veicolare l’immagine positiva
della nostra terra.
- Mimmo Gangemi, però, nasce come
ingegnere. Quale percorso lo porta alla
scrittura?
E’ la domanda più ricorrente che mi viene posta e non nascondo che mi infastidisce un po’. A volte penso che se fossi
un architetto nessuno sarebbe così meravigliato. Sfatiamo qualche falso mito: la
freddezza dei numeri con cui fa i conti un
ingegnere non è assolutamente un limite
alla fantasia o alla creatività. Quasimodo era un geometra ma è riuscito anche a
vincere il Nobel! Io, pur muovendomi tra
linee ed equazione, ho sempre avvertito
la necessità di produrre fantasie narrative
per comunicare qualcosa.
- Una vera e propria vocazione?
Non ho mai rincorso la pubblicazione dei
miei romanzi quale strumento di guadagno o di notorietà, non sono mai stato
ossessionato da queste idee. Nella mia
libreria custodisco gelosamente tanti romanzi ancora sconosciuti al pubblico.
In questo campo non ho mai fretta, so
aspettare il tempo giusto e le condizioni
più favorevoli. Ultimamente ho firmato
un contratto con Bompiani editore. E sta
per andare in ristampa il mio primo libro,
“Un anno in Aspromonte” edito da Rubettino, che sto “asciugando” sulla base
dell’esperienza e della tecnica acquisite
in questi anni.
- Quindi uno scrittore col passare degli
anni si migliora?
La crescita non si interrompe mai. E il
mestiere si affina man mano che si scrive.
Magari scemano le idee e la fantasia. Ma
per fortuna non mi è ancora successo, ho
tant’altro da raccontare. Per il resto, sono
una persona normale, con i piedi ben saldi per terra. E senza l’ossessione del successo a tutti i costi.
Del resto, ho deciso di restare in Calabria, forse vivendo in altre realtà avrei
raggiunto prima questi obiettivi. Ho
sfruttato alcune condizioni favorevoli ma
ho anche dovuto superare molti pregiu-

dizi, appiccicati a questa nostra terra, e a
chi ci abita.
- Nei suoi romanzi ha trattato molti
aspetti, compreso quello dell’emigrazione. Che differenza c’è tra chi partiva dalla Calabria 100 anni fa e chi va
via oggi?
Il romanzo “La signora di Ellis Island”
tratta proprio questo aspetto. Una volta
era un’emigrazione non scolarizzata, di
uomini e donne costretti a partire per cercare di cambiare la propria condizione
che qui sembrava immutabile, animati da
intelligenza e voglia di riscatto. Oggi, invece, perdiamo i nostri migliori cervelli,
grandi professionalità che fanno fortuna
altrove e delle quali la Calabria avrebbe
grande bisogno.
Quest’emigrazione delle intelligenze è
una iattura, fa la fortuna di altre terre e
impoverisce la nostra.
- Cosa serve alla Calabria per avere un
futuro?
Puntare sulla vocazione turistica di questa terra è fondamentale. A livello culturale e paesaggistico la Calabria è formidabile: in quanti posti è possibile passare
dal mare alla montagna in meno di 30
minuti? Basti pensare allo splendore unico della Costa Viola o alla natura incontaminata dell’Aspromonte, a cui probabilmente qualche leggenda negativa ha
portato anche benefici, perché non è stato
oggetto di deturpazione e abusivismo.
Bisogna ripartire proprio da qui.
- Finalmente i Bronzi di Riace sono
tornati nella loro dimora naturale.
Ne sono contento e, sui Bronzi, io sono

del parere che converrebbe alla Calabria
che girassero nel mondo, per brevi periodi e soltanto in occasioni di importanza mondiale, perché sarebbero il nostro
miglior biglietto da visita. Eliminando i
rischi e utilizzando altissimi standard di
sicurezza, sono certo che, esposti durante alcuni eventi - penso ad esempio ai
Mondiali di calcio in Brasile - produrrebbero straordinarie ricadute positive per
la regione. Prendo comunque atto della
volontà popolare, espressa attraverso un
referendum, di lasciarli sempre a Reggio.
- A proposito di apertura mentale, ultimamente la Regione ha ribadito il suo
impegno contro l’omofobia attraverso
un protocollo sottoscritto con l’Arcigay.
E’ un fatto positivo che contribuisce a
eliminare alcuni inutili pregiudizi affibbiati alla Calabria. La nostra gente rispetta tutto e tutti pur mantenendo le proprie
idee. Io sono un padre e un marito e la
mia concezione di famiglia è quella classica, ma credo che ognuno abbia il diritto
di vivere secondo la propria natura.
- Ci indichi lo scrittore più simpatico
ed il più antipatico tra quelli incontrati.
Il più simpatico certamente è Giancarlo
De Cataldo, grande scrittore e persona
perbene, a cui sono legato da stima e
amicizia, molto importante nel mio percorso artistico anche perché è stato lui a
portarmi da Einaudi. Non ne ho di particolarmente antipatici. Forse un po’, ma
appena un po’, Roberto Cotroneo, che ho
conosciuto quando lui era un ragazzino.
Mi disturba che sia un critico letterario
spietato e che, quando si è trasformato
in scrittore, sia stato osannato in misura
sproporzionata rispetto ai meriti letterari.
Chissà?, magari se lo tengono buono
- Il suo giudizio su uno scrittore ancora
di moda: Roberto Saviano.
Gomorra è un romanzo eccezionale. Restiamo però in trepidante attesa di un’altra opera di narrativa.
- Simpatia e antipatia: tra i giornalisti?
Ho un ottimo rapporto con Curzio Maltese, Peppino Caldarola, Vittorio Macioce,
Mariapia Bonamate, Giuseppe Salvaggiulo, Gianluca Mercuri, Aldo Varano,
Filippo Veltri, Arcangelo Badolati - mi
fermo qui ma potrei aggiungerne tanti
altri, spero che nessuno dei non citati si
sia offeso.
Il più antipatico è Gian Antonio Stella. È
un grande giornalista ma ho l’impressione che non ami i calabresi, con un piglio
critico mai costruttivo. Mi ricorda Giorgio Bocca, mostro sacro del giornalismo,
pure lui poco ‘amico’ della Calabria, in
“Inferno” ci inchiodò con menzogne colossali, tipo il cartello stradale, che lui
avrebbe visto in Aspromonte, “attenzione, qui possibili scontri a fuoco”.
- Qual è la persona più interessante
che le è capitato di incontrare?
Ne ho incontrate tante che mi hanno impressionato. In questo momento particolare, mi piace citare il magistrato Nicola
Gratteri. Lo ammiro per la grande professionalità, per la capacità di coinvolgere e
di aggregare le persone, per l’entusiasmo
che riesce a creare intorno a sé. Mi sarebbe piaciuto vederlo nel ruolo di Mini-

stro. Ho firmato anche la petizione a suo
favore.
- Si potrebbe ipotizzare un’opera scritta da Nicola Gratteri e Mimmo Gangemi?
Se lui volesse, non esiterei un istante.
Sarebbe interessante vedere se si riesce
a intersecare la sua saggistica con la mia
narrativa.
- Due passioni, una calcistica e una culinaria, di Mimmo Gangemi?
La Reggina e gli spaghetti cozze e von-
gole, sono un “montanaro” a cui piace il
mare.

however, we lose our best minds, great professionals that make their
fortune elsewhere and which Calabria greatly needs. This emigration of
intelligences is a disaster and only brings good fortune to other lands and
impoverishes our own.

- What does Calabria need to have a future?
Focusing on the tourist aspect of this land is crucial. At the cultural level
and also in its landscapes, Calabria is formidable: how many places are
there where you can go from the sea to the mountains in less than 30
minutes? Just think about the unique splendour of the Costa Viola or
the nature of Aspromonte, which probably led to some negative legends
that however also brought benefits because it has not been the subject of
anthing destructive or illegal. We must start again from here.
“Every art form reaches its goal only if it arouses feelings in people.”
Words of the Calabrian writer Mimmo Gangemi. Conversing with him
is exciting in itself. It takes the tone of voice, accent and inflection in
order to reflect his roots, love of Calabria, the simplicity of those who
live notoriety without modifying their modus vivendi. As a good citizen
of Aspromonte, Mimmo Gangemi is a man who readily makes himself
available, outspoken yet quiet, one can ask him any question.
- In a few days “Il giudice meschino” will be aired on RAI. What
emotions does he feel at seeing his novel take shape even through
the cameras?
It was a very strange but positive feeling. There are different languages
one may use to describe a place or a mood or a character and a writer
needs to make use of words upon words so to speak. On television just a
few seconds of an image are enough. These are two different art forms,
in both impact and technique, but I’m proud of the work done and very
satisfied because the meaning of the novel remains true even in fiction.
I wait to see the finished product, because the scenes are never filmed in
chronological order. From what I hear, the quality of the project is even
higher than expected.
- It seems that this is only the first act of a new fiction.
The hope is that it will become a television series and I have already signed the option for “Il patto del giudice.” There are good prospects for it
to do well: The director and the cast are outstanding, Luca Zingaretti has
once again demonstrated his versatility for which I have no doubt that
this story, divided in two parts, will have great success. I want to thank
the Governor of Calabria, Scopelliti, who believed in this project, with
the foresight of those who understand how these formidable instruments
can convey a positive image of our region.
- Mimmo Gangemi, however, started as an engineer. Which path led
him to write?
It ‘s the most common question I get asked and I do not hide the fact
that it annoys me a bit. Sometimes I think if I were an architect, nobody would have been so amazed. Let’s debunk some of the myth: the
coldness of the numbers with which an engineer has to deal is by no
means a limit to imagination or creativity. Quasimodo was a surveyor
but also managed to win the Nobel Prize! I, despite moving among lines and equations, always felt the need to produce narrative fantasies to
communicate something.
- A true vocation then?
I never chased after the publication of my novels as a means to make profit or gain fame. I’ve never been obsessed with these ideas. In my library
I jealously guard many novels that are still unknown to the public. In
this field I am never in a hurry. I can wait for the right time and the most
favorable conditions. Lately I’ve signed a contract with publishing house
Bompiani. It is going to reprint my first book, “Un anno in Aspromonte”,
previously published by Rubettino, that I’m “tidying up” on the basis
of the experience and technological knowhow acquired over the years.
- So a writer over the years improves?
Growth is never interrupted and the craft is refined as you write, perhaps
diminishing the ideas and imagination. But luckily this has not yet happened in my case - quite the opposite actually. For the rest, I’m a normal person, with my feet firmly on the ground, without the obsession
of success at all costs. Moreover, I decided to stay in Calabria, perhaps
living in another reality would have helped me reach these goals. I took
advantage of some favourable conditions but I also had to overcome a lot
of prejudice, clinging to our land and those who live there.
- In your novels you deal with many issues, including that of emigration. What is the difference between those who started from Calabria
a 100 years ago and those who set off today?
The novel “La signora di Ellis Island” precisely deals with this aspect.
Once emigration was not for the educated. Men and women were forced
to leave to try to change their own condition and here that seemed im-

I’m happy, regarding the Bronzi and I am of the opinion that it would
be best for Calabria if they could be left to be sent around the world for
short periods during times of global importance, because they would be
our best business card. If one were to eliminate the risks and use the
highest standards of safety, I am sure that if they were exposed during
certain events - for example, the World Cup in Brazil – it would be an
extraordinary positive advertisement for the region. However, I take note
of the will of the people, expressed through a referendum, to leave them
always in Reggio.
- Regarding openness, the region has recently reaffirmed its commitment against homophobia through a protocol signed with Arcigay.
It ‘a good thing that helps to eliminate some unnecessary prejudices attributed to Calabria. Our people respect everything and everyone while
maintaining their own ideas. I am a father and a husband and my conception of the family is the classic one, but I believe that everyone has the
right to live according to their nature.
- Can you point out the most likeable and the most obnoxious among
those you have encountered to date?
The most likeable is certainly Giancarlo De Cataldo, a great writer and
a decent person, to whom I am bound by respect and friendship. He has
been very important in my artistic career because he was the one to introduce me to Einaudi. I do not particularly have anyone obnoxious in mind.
Maybe a little, but just a little Roberto Cotroneo, who I met when he was
a kid. It upsets me that he is a merciless literary critic. When he became
a writer, he was hailed to an extent which I feel is disproportionate to his
literary merits. Who knows?, Maybe they are hoping he will improve.
- Your judgment about a writer still in fashion: Roberto Saviano.
Gomorra is an outstanding novel. We remain, however, eagerly waiting
for another work of fiction by the same writer.
- Who are those journalists you like and those you dislike?
I have a great relationship with Curzio Maltese, Peppino Caldarola,
Vittorio Macioce, Mariapia Bonamate, Giuseppe Salvaggiulo, Gianluca
Mercuri, Aldo Varano, Filippo Veltri and Arcangelo Badolati - I’ll stop
here but I could add many others. I hope that those I haven’t mentioned
will not be offended. The most annoying of the lot is Gian Antonio Stella.
He’s a great journalist but I have the impression that he does not love
Calabrians, with his critical style that is never constructive. He reminds
me of Giorgio Bocca, a sacred monster of journalism, he too cannot be
considered a ‘friend’ of Calabria. In “Inferno” he nailed us with colossal
lies, like the road sign, he is supposed to have seen in Aspromonte,
“Caution, gunfights possible here”.
- What is the most interesting person you have come across?
I’ve met many that have impressed me. At this particular time, I would
like to mention magistrate Nicola Gratteri. I admire him for his professionalism, the ability to engage and bring people together, for the enthusiasm that he manages to create around himself. I would have liked to
see him in the role of Minister. I also signed the petition in his favour.
Is it possible that a work written by Nicola Gratteri and Mimmo
Gangemi ever sees the light of day?
If he wanted to, I would not hesitate a moment. It would be interesting to
see if we can marry his wisdom to my narrative style.
- Two passions, a football and a culinary Mimmo Gangemi?
Reggina and spaghetti with mussels and clams...I am a “mountaineer”
who loves the sea.

della Regione per la ferrovia jonica

re nuovi treni (ALN 663)
rinnovati e dotati di tutti i
comfort sono stati attivati sulla linea ferroviaria jonica tra
Reggio Calabria-Catanzaro Lido. L’obiettivo è il potenziamento di una tratta
tra le più disagiate della regione ma che
ha comunque una considerevole utenza.
Il servizio prevede tre nuove corse giornaliere, suddivise nelle fasce orarie di
maggiore intensità. Alla presentazione
dei nuovi treni avvenuta contestualmente all’attivazione del servizio, ha partecipato l’assessore regionale ai Trasporti
Luigi Fedele insieme al direttore regionale di Trenitalia Franco Costantino e
il dirigente di settore dell’assessorato
regionale ai Trasporti Giuseppe Pavone. “Si inizia a cambiare lo dico con
orgoglio – ha dichiarato l’assessore Fedele - c’è grande attenzione per quanto
riguarda la linea Jonica come mai era
avvenuto in passato. I tre nuovi treni
diesel, non sono solo rinnovati, ma hanno una capienza raddoppiata, potranno
contenere duecento persone sedute e
circa trecento in piedi. Gli studenti ed i
pendolari avranno così l’opportunità di
viaggiare su treni climatizzati sia d’inverno che d’estate senza dover subire
ulteriori disagi. Noi comunque stiamo
puntando ad acquistare nuovi treni diesel – ha aggiunto l’assessore Fedele anche perché si è finalmente sbloccata
la gara a livello nazionale.
L’obiettivo è acquistarne quattro o cinque per dare ossigeno alla linea Jonica,
che non è elettrificata, limitando così al
minimo i disagi dei viaggiatori. Si tratta
di un investimento notevole di circa 40
milioni di euro che la Regione Calabria
sta mettendo in campo, fra convogli diesel ed elettrici. Inoltre prima delle fine
del 2014 arriveranno i primi treni nuovi
elettrici che abbiamo già commissionato da tempo a Trenitalia e che ci consentiranno di eliminare quei convogli
obsoleti che non garantiscono più un
servizio dignitoso per loro condizione
fatiscente e che provocano spesso anche
ritardi”. Anche il direttore regionale di
Trenitalia Franco Costantino ha apprezzato l’impegno e l’attenzione che la Regione ha dedicato alla ferrovia Jonica:
“L’assessore Fedele ha dimostrato grande sensibilità – ha dichiarato Costantino

NEW TRAINS TO ENHANCE IONIAN RAILWAY LINE

Three new trains (ALN 663) renovated and equipped with all amenities, were activated on the railway line between the Ionian Reggio Calabria-Catanzaro
Lido. The objective is the strengthening of a section considered among the poorest in the region, but that still has a sizable commutership. The service includes three new trips a day, divided into bands for greater intensity. The presentation of the new trains saw the simultaneous activation of the service and was
attended by the Regional Minister for Transport, Luigi Fedele along with the regional director of Trenitalia, Franco Constantine and the leader of the Regional Transport sector, Giuseppe Pavone. “Things are starting to change and I say this with pride,” said the commissioner Fedele. “There is great attention
with regard to the Ionian line like never before. The three new diesel trains are not only rennovated, but have doubled their capacity to two hundred people
sitting and about three hundred standing. The students and commuters will have the opportunity to travel on trains with air conditioning in both summer
and winter without having to undergo further hardships. However, we are aiming to buy new diesel trains,” added councillor Fedele, “also because the need
has been understood at national level. The objective is to buy four or five to give more impetus to the Ionian Line, which is not electrified, thus limiting to
a minimum the discomfort of passengers. It is a significant investment of approximately 40 million Euro that the region of Calabria is ready to in diesel and
electric trains. In addition, before the end of 2014, the first new electric trains that have been commissioned for some time through Trenitalia, will allow us
to eliminate those obsolete convoys that no longer guarantee a decent service due to their dilapidated condition which often causes delays.” The regional
director of Trenitalia, Franco Costantino appreciated the effort and attention that our region has dedicated to the Ionian railroad: “Commissioner Fedele has
shown great sensitivity by passing within a short time from words to concrete deeds. “

a Reggina lo scorso undici gennaio ha compiuto cento anni. Un compleanno significativo per il club amaranto che sta attraversando una
stagione difficile nel campionato di serie B. Dal 1914 in poi i tifosi
reggini hanno vissuto tantissime gioie, ma anche diverse delusioni.
La prima promozione in serie A ottenuta il tredici giugno del 1999 ha fatto
esplodere di gioia un’intera città. Il “Delle Alpi” di Torino era gremito di tifosi
amaranto arrivati da ogni parte d’Italia. Lillo Foti non dimenticherà mai più
quello storico pomeriggio: “Mi vengono i brividi se penso a quella giornata.
Ci serviva un successo per andare in serie A e riuscimmo ad ottenerlo grazie
ai gol di Cozza e Martino. Al termine ci fu la pacifica invasione di campo dei
nostri sostenitori che ci seguirono in massa nel capoluogo piemontese”.
- In quella stagione non eravate partiti per vincere il campionato, eppure
alla fine arrivò la promozione in serie A.
“In effetti non pensavamo di andare in A, ma poi strada facendo ci accorgemmo
di potercela fare vincendo una serie di gare fondamentali che ci portarono nella
parte alta della classifica. Quello era uno straordinario gruppo di calciatori sia
in campo che fuori”.
- Il calciatore simbolo della sua gestione può essere considerato Ciccio Cozza?
“Io credo di sì. Ciccio è cresciuto al “Sant’Agata” e con noi ha raggiunto i

- Ci può descrivere l’emozione più
grande che ha vissuto da presidente
della Reggina?
“Il gol di Kallon alla Juve nella prima
partita in serie A.
Eravamo sotto di un gol, aveva segnato Inzaghi, ma ad inizio ripresa il nostro Mohamed di testa firmò l’uno a
uno”.
- Qual è stata, invece, la sua delusione più forte?
“Due in particolare, la sconfitta ai rigori nello spareggio contro la Cremonese che non ci consentì di andare in A
e il gol di Cossato a pochi minuti dalla
fine che ci condannò alla retrocessione in serie B”.
- I trentamila del “Granillo” quando
li rivedremo?
“Io spero presto, anche se in questo
momento i tifosi sono un po’ delusi
per i nostri risultati”.
- Nell’annata della penalizzazione si
aspettava di raggiungere la salvezza?
“Avevo molte perplessità perché i
punti di penalizzazione erano tanti.
Il nostro fu un campionato strepitoso
che ci concluse con il successo contro
il Milan in casa.
Mazzarri fece un lavoro straordinario
caricando i calciatori sin dal primo
giorno del ritiro”.
- Il diciannove marzo del 2000 è una
data che le ricorda qualcosa?
“Vincemmo per la prima volta all’“Olimpico” contro la Roma di Fabio
Capello.
Sugli spalti c’erano novemila tifosi

reggini e segnarono Cozza nel primo
tempo e Cirillo nella ripresa”.
- Rivedremo la Reggina in serie A?
“Lo sport, così come la vita, è fatto di
cicli e mi auguro che la Reggina fra
qualche anno possa tornare nella massima serie”.
- Sogna ancora la stelletta?
“E’ bello sognare ed io lo faccio spesso”.
- Il calcio italiano è in salute?
“Ci sono difficoltà, il momento è delicato per tutti e la crisi economica ha
colpito pure il mondo del calcio.
Gli stadi, anche in serie A, non sono
più pieni come in passato, tant’è che
le società sono costrette ad operare tra
mille difficoltà pur di fare quadrare i
bilanci”.

Last January 11 Reggina celebrated its one hundred years of existence.
A significant birthday for the amaranto club that is going through a difficult season in Serie B. From 1914 onwards the fans have experienced
many joys, but also several disappointments. The first promotion to Serie
A obtained on June 13 1999 blew up an entire city with joy. The “Delle
Alpi” Turin was packed with fans that came from every part of Italy. Lillo
Foti will never forget the most historic afternoon: “I shudder when I think
of that day. We needed to gain promotion to Serie A on the day and we
managed to get it thanks to goals from Martino and Cozza. At the end
there was a peaceful invasion of the field by our supporters who followed
us en mass through Turin.”
- At the start of that season you weren’t even aspiring to win the
championship, but in the end you gained promotion to Serie A.
“In fact we did not think we were going to, but then along the way we
realized we could do it by winning a series of games that took us to the top
of the standings. That was an extraordinary group of players both inside
and out.”
- Would you agree that the talisman of that Reggina team may be
considered to have been Ciccio Cozza?
“I think so. Ciccio was a product of “Sant’Agata” and we achieved the
most important goals thanks to him. I am very attached to him and it can
never be any different. Cozza still loves the amaranto shirt and in the
significant moments of our history has always been the protagonist. I can
still see his deadly free-kicks which allowed us to win many games.”
- When did you start going to the “Granillo” stadium?
“It was the 60s and I went to the stadium accompanied by my father. I
remember the Reggina of Granillo and Maestrelli that attained promotion
to Serie B.”
- Can you describe the greatest emotion that you lived as president

of Reggina?
“Kallon’s goal in the first game against Juventus in Serie A. We were a
goal down. Inzaghi had scored, but our Mohamed headed in to make it a
memorable draw.”
- What was your biggest dissappointment so far?
“Two in particular: The defeat on penalties in the play-off against Cremonese that killed off our promotion prospects to Serie A and Cossato’s goal
just a few minutes from the end that condemned us to Serie B relegation”.
- Will we ever get to see thirty thousand fans at the “Granillo” again?
“I hope soon, although at this time the fans are a bit ‘disappointed with
our results.”
- In the year when Reggina were penalised were you expecting to attain salvation?
“I had many doubts because there were so many penalty points. Ours was
a championship that was concluded with resounding success against Milan at home. Mazzarri did an amazing job by adequately preparing the
players from the first day of the retreat. “
- Does March 19, 2000 remind you of anything?
“We won for the first time at the “Olimpico” against Fabio Capello’s
Roma. There were nine thousand travelling fans in the stands with Reggio’s Cozza scoring in the first half and Cyril in the second.”
- Will we ever see Reggina in serie A once more?
“Sport, like life, is made of cycles and I hope that in a few years time
Reggina can get back in the top flight.”
- Do you still dream of la stelletta?
“It is nice to dream and I do it often”.
- Is Italian football passing through a healthy period?
“There are difficulties, at present the situation is rather delicate for
everyone and the economic crisis has also affected the world of football
here. Stadia, even in Serie A, are no longer as full as they used to be in the
past, so much so that companies have been forced to operate with great
difficulty just to make ends meet.”

La Regione, e in prima persona il Presidente Scopelliti, ha fatto la sua parte per dotare la Calabria e
l’Italia di un contenitore culturale di primaria grandezza. Si tratta della nuova apertura del Museo di
Reggio, con all’interno i due Bronzi di Riace finalmente restaurati. Non solo sono stati destinati cinque milioni di euro di fondi comunitari della Regione per completare il Museo e quindi consentirne
la riapertura, ma sempre su impulso di Scopelliti, il
trasferimento dei Bronzi è stato a carico della Regione. Costante è stato l’impegno della Giunta per
accelerare il completamento museale con il conseguente trasferimento dei bronzi e la riapertura
dell’importante struttura culturale. 17 mila i visitatori subito dopo la riapertura in coincidenza con
il ritorno dei Bronzi di Riace: “Si tratta di numeri
importanti – ha detto il Presidente Scopelliti - a
testimonianza di un prezioso lavoro sinergico col
governo che ha prodotto effetti. La Calabria deve
continuare a puntare sui propri tesori. La presenza
in questi giorni nella nostra regione di testate nazionali ed internazionali per visitare il Museo ed i
Bronzi è un segnale molto positivo”.
L’esecutivo, inoltre, nel corso di questo mese, ha
approvato su proposta del Presidente Scopelliti
l’accordo tra le Nazioni Unite e la Regione finalizzato a “rafforzare la cooperazione internazionale nell’area della gestione, uso e destinazione dei
beni sequestrati e confiscati”, Regione Calabria ed
Unodc (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime) hanno infatti espresso la volontà di accordarsi
per cooperare in questo settore.
► THE PRESIDENCY
The region’s people, first and foremost
President Scopelliti, have done their part
to provide Calabria and indeed Italy with
a culture of primary magnitude. A case
in point is the inauguration of the two
Bronzi di Riace inside the Museum of
Reggio, after undergoing extensive restoration. Five million Euro in EU funds
were allocated to complete these which
led to the reopening of the museum.
Always at the instigation of Scopelliti ,
the transfer of the Bronzi was to bring
them back to the region . It was also
thanks to the constant commitment of
the authorities in seeing the completion
of the museum with the consequent transfer of the Bronzi, that the reopening of
this important cultural structure cam to
fruition. The historical artefacts attracted
17 thousand visitors immediately after
the re-opening: “These are important
numbers,” said President Scopelliti, “a
testimony to the valuable work in synergy with the government that bore results.
Calabria must continue to focus on such
treasures. The very presence of national
and international newspapers in our region during this period in our region here
to visit the Museum and the Bronzi is a
very positive sign.”
During the course of this month, the
executive board has also approved the
proposal of President Scopelliti that an
agreement be signed between the United
Nations and the Region with the aim to
“strengthen international cooperation in
the area of management, use and destination of seized and confiscated assets” in
the Calabria Region. The UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime )
have in fact expressed its willingness to
agree to cooperate in this area .
► VICEPRESIDENZA
La Vicepresidenza della Regione, come
l’intera giunta, è impegnata nell’operazione di rilancio del Porto di Gioia Tauro, anche alla luce della rivalutazione
positiva da parte del Governo di questa
strategica infrastruttura italiana. “La
Giunta – ha detto la Vicepresidente - e
poi il Consiglio regionale, all’unanimità,
hanno approvato la nascita della Zes, la
Zona Economica Speciale nel porto di
Gioia Tauro, promuovendo nei confronti del governo nazionale una proposta di
legge. Questo importante provvedimento
è fermo nelle varie commissioni parlamentari. Se lo scalo gioiese viene definito da tutti unico e strategico per le sue
caratteristiche, l’approvazione della Zes
sarebbe un modo per dimostrare al territorio che il governo nazionale e l’Europa ritengono il porto calabrese non solo
come area di stoccaggio di merci pericolose ma, soprattutto, come infrastruttura
strategica europea e volano di sviluppo
dell’economia nazionale. Sono queste

le risposte concrete che ci attendiamo
dall’esecutivo nazionale”, ha evidenziato
la Vicepresidente Antonella Stasi.
► VICE PRESIDENCY
The Vice President of the Region, like
the rest of the Council, is engaged in the
operation of the relaunch of the Port of
Gioia Tauro, in light of the positive revaluation by the central Government of this
strategic infrastructure. “The Council,”
said the Vice President, “and also the Regional Council, unanimously approved
the creation of a Special Economic Zone
in the port of Gioia Tauro, pushing with
the national government to enact a law
in this regard. This important measure is
currently stagnant in the various parliamentary committees. If the Scalo Gioiese is defined as unique and strategic due
to its characteristics, the approval of the
SEZ would be a way to demonstrate to
the territory that the national government
and Europe believe the Calabrian port to
be not only a storage area for dangerous
goods but above all, a strategic European infrastructure and a strategic development of the national economy . These
are the real answers that we expect from
the national executive,”noted Vice President Antonella Stasi .

Su proposta dell’Assessore ai Lavori
Pubblici Giuseppe Gentile è stata deliberata la rimodulazione della concessione
di un contributo, costante poliennale, al
Comune di Vibo Valentia di un milione
e mezzo di euro per la realizzazione di
un programma di interventi infrastrutturali da destinare al risanamento, riqualificazione e recupero del territorio colpito
dall’alluvione del luglio 2006. La Giunta
ha inoltre approvato la regolazione unitaria del servizio idrico integrato in attuazione della legge regionale 34/2010
ed ha, altresì, deciso l’identificazione dei
rapporti giuridici già in capo a cessanti
enti di ambito territoriale ottimali cui subentra la Regione Calabria.

On the suggestion of Public Works Assessor Giuseppe Gentile, a multiannual
assistance grant of 1.5million Euro has
been approved for the City of Vibo Valentia to be used for the implementation
of a programme of infrastructure for rehabilitation, recovery and redevelopment
of the area affected by the flood of July
2006. The Board also approved the setting up of a unit for integrated water services in line with Law 34/2010 and has
also decided to identify the legal relationships with territorial entities already
in place territorial entities overseeing the
administration of the region of Calabria.
► URBANISTICA
E’ stato approvato il documento per la
“Politica del paesaggio in Calabria”. Su
proposta degli Assessori al Bilancio Giacomo Mancini e quello all’Urbanistica
Alfonso Dattolo è stata approvata inoltre la rimodulazione del Grande Progetto
“Banda Ultra Larga e Sviluppo digitale
in Calabria” per un importo di sessantacinquemilioni, al fine di assicurare la
completa realizzazione entro il trentuno
dicembre del 2015.
► URBAN
The document “Landscape policy in
Calabria” has been approved. On the instigation of the Councillor in charge of
Budgets Giacomo Mancini and the one
in charge of Planning Alfonso Dattolo,
the remodelling of the Great Project “Ultra Wide Band and Digital Development
in Calabria” was also approved for an
amount of 65 million Euro, in order to
ensure the full realization by 30 December 2015.
► PROGRAMMAZIONE NAZIONALE E COMUNITARIA
Sono state firmate dall’Assessore regionale al bilancio e alla programmazione
nazionale e comunitaria Giacomo Mancini due convenzioni dall’importo complessivo di 23 milioni di euro nell’ambito dei Pisl “Sistemi turistici”. Le
sottoscrizioni riguardano i progetti integrati di sviluppo locale “Lorica Hamata
in Sila amena”, di cui è capofila il Comune di San Giovanni in Fiore (Cosenza), e
“Natura: un ponte tra mare e montagna”,
guidato dalla Provincia di Catanzaro.
Agli accordi seguiranno l’erogazione
dell’anticipazione sulle somme finanziate e l’indizione, da parte degli Enti beneficiari delle gare d’appalto. “Con queste

PLANNING
Two agreements have been signed by
the councillor responsible for the regional budget and national and community
planning, Giacomo Mancini for a total
amount of €23 million as part of the
Pisl “tourism systems”. Subscriptions
involve integrated projects of local development such as “Lorica Hamata in
Sila Amena” which is led by the City of
San Giovanni in Fiore (Cosenza), and
“Nature: a bridge between the sea and
the mountain”, led by the Province of
Catanzaro. Agreements will follow the
delivery of the advance on the amounts
financed and the proclamation by the local recipients of the tenders. “With these
agreements”, said Councillor Mancini,
“we start off with concrete facts which
identify tourism as a major engine for
development in Calabria. The Pisl Lorica has the objective of strengthening the
tourism system and the Sila Cosentina
committed resources of more than sixteen million Euro.”

tecnica e scientifica in materia di progetti innovativi e di istruttoria in materia di
VIA (Valutazione impatto ambientale),
per l’elaborazione di studi e ricerche, per
il coordinamento e il patrocinio di offerte formative di livello specialistico; il
secondo con il Dipartimento di Biologia
per l’assistenza tecnica e scientifica in
materia di progetti innovativi e di istruttoria in materia di VIA, per l’elaborazione di studi e ricerche, per il coordinamento e il patrocinio di offerte formative
di livello specialistico.
►BUDGET
We were given the go ahead with regards
to the technical document, divided by
basic planning units and chapters that
pertain to the 2014 budget. With this act,
following the promulgation of the laws
relating to finances that have been concluded on time, we have completed the
process of approving the budget for the
next year in its entirety. They also approved the departmental budget for the year
2014 and two Framework Agreements
between the Regional Department. These agreements relate to Environmental
Policy and the University of Calabria.
The first was signed with the Department
of Environmental Engineering and Chemical Engineering for the technical and
scientific assistance in the field of innovative projects and preliminary investigation for the EIA (Environmental
Impact Assessment) for the preparation
of studies and research, and the coordination and sponsorship of educational
opportunities at specialisation level. The
second was agreed with the Department
of Biology for technical and scientific assistance in the field of innovative
projects and preliminary investigation
for the EIA for the development of studies and research on the coordination
and the sponsorship of educational opportunities at specialisation level.
► AMBIENTE
La Giunta ha approvato lo schema di
Accordo di Programma tra il Conai
(Consorzio nazionale imballaggi) e la
Regione per la gestione dei rifiuti d’imballaggio e delle fruizioni merceologiche
similari. Tale accordo rientra tra le politiche regionali tese a ridurre la produzione
di rifiuti attraverso il riuso ed il riciclo ed
a limitare il flusso di rifiuti inviati allo
smaltimento con il ricorso alle discariche. E’ stata anche deliberata la determinazione dei criteri per l’individuazione
dei luoghi idonei alla realizzazione ed
all’esercizio di impianti di smaltimento
di rifiuti contenenti amianto.
► ENVIRONMENT
The council has approved the draft
agreement programme between the CO-

NAI (National Packaging Consortium)
and the Region for the management of
packaging waste and similar merchandise. This agreement is part of the regional
policy aimed at reducing the production
of waste through reuse and recycling and
to limit the flow of waste sent for disposal with the use of landfills. The establishment of criteria for the identification
of sites suitable for construction and
operation of facilities for the disposal of
asbestos-containing waste has also been
approved.

regionali di attuazione delle misure applicative dei regolamenti europei sull’organizzazione comune del mercato vitivinicolo “programma regionale di sostegno
del vino “2014/2018”. La Regione inoltre ha partecipato a Gennaio alla fiera internazionale “Food Ospitality World” di
Mumbai. “Abbiamo aderito per la prima
volta a questa importante manifestazione
– ha dichiarato l’Assessore Trematerra
– perché siamo convinti che l’India rappresenti un mercato ed un’economia in
continuo sviluppo. La nostra ambizione
è quella di giungere, nella prossima edizione della ‘Food Hospitality World’, ad
una partecipazione più organica della nostra regione, con la presenza di aziende
interessate e proiettate al commercio internazionale. Rappresentiamo le aziende
calabresi che sono fortemente interessate
al mercato internazionale e che sono già
presenti in Usa, Canada, Australia, Cina,

► AGRICULTURE
The provisions of the regional implementation of the measures to enact the
European regulations on the common
organization of the wine market “regional support program for the wine”
2014/2018” have been approved. The
Region also participated in the international exhibition “World Food Hospitality” in Mumbai held last January. “We
took part for the first time at this important event,” said Councillor Trematerra,
“because we are convinced that India represents a good chunk of the market economy and is in constant development.
Our ambition is to participate in the next
edition of the ‘World Food Hospitality’,
with more emphasis on organic produce
of our region, with the presence of companies involved in international trade
and projects. We represent companies
from Calabria who are strongly interested in the international market and that
are already present in the U.S., Canada,
Australia, China and Russia.”
► ATTIVITA’ PRODUTTIVE
Pubblicato il bando per la concessione
delle agevolazioni, di natura fiscale e
contributiva, in favore delle micro e piccole imprese localizzate nelle Zone franche urbane (ZFU) della Regione Calabria
e precisamente, nelle città di Corigliano
Calabro, Cosenza, Crotone, Lamezia
Terme, Reggio Calabria, Rossano,Vibo
Valentia. Le risorse disponibili per la
concessione delle agevolazioni, relativamente alla Regione Calabria, sono
pari a 54,88 milioni di euro. “Attraverso
quest’azione - afferma l’Assessore Arena - sarà consentito alle piccole e micro imprese, selezionate dal Bando, che
svolgono la propria attività all’interno
delle ZFU, di poter beneficiare di tutta
una serie di agevolazioni, nei termini
e nei limiti stabiliti dal citato Decreto,
quali esenzione dalle imposte sui redditi,
esenzione dall’imposta regionale sulle
attività produttive, esenzione dall’imposta municipale propria per i soli immobili siti nella ZFU, esonero dal versamento
dei contributi sulle retribuzioni da lavoro
dipendente”.
► PRODUCTIVE ACTIVITIES
The call for the granting of concessions
, tax and social security contributions in
favor of micro and small enterprises located in urban zones (ZFU) of the Calabria region has been approved. This will
specifically be found in the towns of Corigliano Calabro, Cosenza, Crotone, Lamezia Terme, Reggio Calabria, Rossano
and Vibo Valentia. The resources available for the granting of concessions relating to the region of Calabria amounted

► PROTEZIONE CIVILE
Su proposta del presidente Scopelliti,
dell’Assessore ai Lavori pubblici Giuseppe Gentile e del sottosegretario alla
presidenza con delega alla Protezione
civile Giovanni Dima, sono stati deliberati una serie di interventi urgenti di
protezione civile per fronteggiare i danni
conseguenti agli eccezionali eventi atmosferici che hanno colpito il territorio
calabrese.
Come si ricorderà la Calabria è stata interessata nel mese di novembre 2013 da
tre eventi meteorici di particolare intensità. Il primo evento, nei giorni 15 e 16
novembre, ha colpito in particolare tre
comuni dell’alto tirreno cosentino: Corigliano Calabro, Cassano allo Ionio e
Rossano. Il secondo, molto più intenso,
ha interessato la parte ionica catanzarese, il crotonese e l’area delle pre-serre
vibonesi. La città di Catanzaro è stata
quella dove si sono registrati i maggiori danni, con l’interruzione del servizio
idrico e con interi quartieri letteralmente sommersi dai mm di pioggia caduti
nell’arco delle prime ore della mattinata
del 19 novembre scorso. La Protezione
civile regionale, dai dati raccolti in seguito agli avvenimenti meteorici di forte
intensità che si sono verificati nei mesi di
novembre e dicembre 2013, ha calcolato
che per la messa in sicurezza definitiva
del territorio saranno necessari circa 150
milioni di euro.
► CIVIL PROTECTION
On the proposal of President Scopelliti,
the Councillor for Public Works Giuseppe Gentile and the Undersecretary
to the Presidency with responsibility for
Civil Defence Giovanni Dima, a series
of emergency measures to deal with the
civil protection for damages resulting
from the exceptional weather events
that have affected the Calabrian territory
have been approved. As you recall Calabria has been hard hit by three rainfall
events of high intensity in November
2013. The first event, took place between
15 and 16 November and affected three
municipalities in particular the high Tirreno Cosentino - Corigliano Calabro ,
the Cassano and Rossano . The second,
much more intense, affected Catanzaro,
Crotone and the Pre-serre Vibonesi. The
city of Catanzaro has been one where
there has been major damage, with the

interruption of water services and with
entire neighborhoods flooded with the
large quantity of rain that fell during the
early morning hours of November 19
last year. The Regional Civil Protection,
from the data collected in the aftermath
of these natural phenomena that occurred in the months of November and December 2013, has calculated that it will
take approximately 150 million Euro to
make the area safe once more.

Il Dirigente generale del Dipartimento
Personale Umberto Nucara ha reso noto
che in poco più di dodici mesi sono stati
espletati tutti gli adempimenti propedeutici e predisposti gli atti di gara riguardo
alla Legge Regionale n. 11 del 6 Aprile
2011 che ha istituito il Bollettino Ufficiale Telematico della Regione Calabria.
Dunque, dal prossimo mese di febbraio,
il Bollettino sarà pubblicato solo “on
line” e, soprattutto, a costo zero per l’Ente che, in quanto proprietario dell’applicativo, non dovrà più ricorrere al mercato. “Il tempo investito per internalizzare
il servizio – ha detto Nucara - si è tradotto in un risultato vantaggioso che, dopo
40 anni di storia regionale, azzera completamente e definitivamente la spesa”.
Su proposta dell’Assessore al Personale
Domenico Tallini è stato approvato inoltre il “Piano annuale delle assunzioni relative all’anno 2013”, disponendo la riallocazione, nel ruolo del personale della
Giunta regionale, delle unità lavorative
dipendenti del liquidando Ente Autonomo “Fiera di Reggio”.

The Director General of the Personnel Department, Umberto Nucara announced that in just over twelve months,
all the requirements relating to the preparation of bidding documents for the
Regional Law no.11 of April 6, 2011,
which established the Electronic Official

been prepared. So, as of next February,

market. “The time invested to internalize

“E’ la prima legge regionale in Italia che
costituisce un albo dando continuità per
tre anni e non la solita proroga annuale
che vedeva tutti impegnati a chiedere ed
a richiedere una chance. Si tratta di tre
anni con la certezza anche dell’opportunità di una stabilizzazione”. A dirlo è
stato il Presidente della Regione Scopelliti, parlando a circa duemila precari, tra
i quali Lsu e Lpu, della legge che, per
“la prima volta in Italia, consente l’istituzione dell’albo dei precari. Ci saranno
50 milioni di euro che serviranno per far
fuoriuscire dal bacino queste persone.
Questo significa azione concreta, risposte, prospettive, futuro serio per questi
lavoratori”. La Giunta ha anche approvato la proposta di legge regionale sugli
“Indirizzi volti a favorire il superamento
del precariato” di cui di cui al decreto
legge del 21 agosto 2013, n. 101, convertito, con modificazioni, dalla legge
del 30 ottobre 2013, n. 125, recante “disposizioni urgenti per il proseguimento
di obiettivi di razionalizzazione nelle
pubbliche amministrazioni”.
► WORK
“It ‘s the first regional law in Italy which

has also approved the proposal of a regional law that addresses the eradication
of precarious work, which refers to the

of October 30, 2013, no.125, entitled
“Urgent provisions for the continuation
of the objectives of rationalization in the
public sector.”
► TRASPORTI
E’ stata erogata la trimestralità, circa
30 milioni di euro, a favore dei servizi
di trasporto pubblico locale su gomma.
“Questi pagamenti - ha dichiarato l’assessore Fedele - rappresentano per le
aziende e i lavoratori del Tpl una vera e
propria boccata d’ossigeno che darà sollievo all’intero comparto. Grazie anche
all’impegno del presidente Scopelliti, e
alla sensibilità dell’assessore Mancini,
si è potuto dare seguito ad un provvedimento di rilevante importanza che arriva,
tra l’altro, in un momento di grave crisi
finanziaria per i trasporti calabresi che
stanno subendo pesantemente gli effetti
della difficoltà a reperire i fondi necessari per il mantenimento del settore. A tal
proposito stiamo avviando tutte le azioni
necessarie per far sì che venga approvata
a Roma la normativa, disattesa nei giorni scorsi dal Governo, che permette lo
sblocco dei fondi Fas da destinare al Tpl
calabrese”.
► TRANSPORT
A quarterly grant of about 30 million
Euro in favor of local public transport
services on wheels has been given the go
ahead. Commissioner Fedele stated that,
“these payments provide businesses and
workers in the Tpl with a real breath of
fresh air that will give relief to the entire sector. Thanks to the efforts of President Scopelliti, and the sensitivity of
councilor Mancini, the council has been
able to follow up with a decision of great importance that comes, among other
things, at a time of severe financial crisis
for transport in Calabria. This is suffering heavily from the effects of difficulties in raising the necessary funds for the
maintenance of the sector. In this regard,
we are initiating all actions necessary
to ensure that this legislation is approved in Rome, after being blocked by the

della partecipazione all’Expo Milano
2015. “La Giunta – ha dichiarato Fedele - ha deliberato la partecipazione della Regione all’esposizione universale di
scena a Milano, attraverso la partecipazione alle iniziative che verranno realizzate nel Padiglione Italia. Pertanto, con
questa prima riunione, seguendo gli input del presidente Scopelliti, intendiamo
avviare un processo di condivisione che
porti all’individuazione di un programma unitario per la partecipazione della
Regione alla manifestazione milanese. Ciò, allo scopo di poter sfruttare al
meglio le potenzialità di sviluppo per la
Calabria derivanti dall’evento anche in
termini di promozione turistica”.
► INTERNATIONALISATION
On the proposal of the Councillor in
charge of Internationalisation, Luigi
Fedele, the council has approved the
participation of the Region in territorial
cooperation projects and development.
Meanwhile, in Catanzaro, in the office of
the executive palace Alemanni, we held

Approvato il Piano di riorganizzazione
di razionalizzazione della rete scolastica e della programmazione dell’offerta
formativa della regione per l’anno 20142015. Si prevede l’istituzione di cinque
licei musicali, uno per provincia, e la
riduzione delle reggenze scolastiche a
38 dalle 88 previste nel precedente anno
scolastico. E’ stato anche adottato il piano regionale del diritto allo studio, che
prevede una serie d’interventi per migliorare la qualità dell’istruzione e una
serie di misure, tra le quali, l’aumento
delle abilità di base, del multiculturalismo, dell’uso delle nuove tecnologie, del
rapporto col mondo del lavoro, della storia dell’arte, dell’educazione musicale,
della promozione della lettura e delle biblioteche scolastiche, dell’aumento delle
cultura scientifica, dell’ educazione alla
legalità, dell’aercheologia e della storia
della Calabria.
E’ stato deliberato inoltre l’aggiornamento del Piano Operativo triennale, relativo alla linee d’intervento del Por Calabria del “Piano regionale degli edifici
storici e di pregio architettonico”.
► CULTURE
The reorganization plan for the rationalization of the school network and the
planning of the training of the region
for the year 2014-2015 has been approved. It provides for the establishment of
five high school of music, one for each
province, and the reduction of school regencies from 88 to 38 as in the previous
school year.
A regional plan of the right to education
has also been put in place.
This includes a series of interventions to
improve the quality of education and a
range of measures, including the increase of basic skills, multiculturalism, use
of new technologies, the relationship
with the world of work, art history, music
education, the promotion of reading and
school libraries, the increase in scientific
culture of educational law and the archeological history of Calabria.
It has also been decided to update the
Operational Plan for three years, on the
lines of action of the POR Calabria relating to the “Regional Plan of historic
buildings of architectural value.”

Il Presidente della Regione Scopelliti
ha inaugurato, nella Casa della Salute
di Scilla, il primo Centro regionale di
fecondazione medicalmente assistita di
primo e secondo livello. Si tratta di un
nuovo servizio sanitario che intende perseguire l’obiettivo di salvaguardare la
funzione riproduttiva, con l’impiego di
tutte le metodiche mediche, chirurgiche
e tecnologiche oggi esistenti, per perve-

nire alla diagnosi, e alla terapia, dell’infertilità o sterilità del singolo e della
coppia attraverso realizzazione delle tecniche e delle procedure, di Procreazione
Medicalmente Assistita.
E’ il primo centro pubblico di primo e
secondo livello che nasce in Calabria.
“Si tratta - ha dichiarato il Presidente
Scopelliti – di una risposta importante
per Scilla. Questo centro, sono convinto,
diventerà una struttura all’avanguardia.
Qui abbiamo potenziato alcuni servizi tra
cui l’allergologia, l’oncologia medica, la
riabilitazione cardiorespiratoria. Sono
presenti anche ambulatori di pediatria,
dermatologia e chirurgia ambulatoriale e
da qualche mese facciamo attività di prevenzione delle malformazioni cardiache
fetali, oltre già all’esistente ambulatorio
di endocrinologia, oculistica e ortopedia
e di analisi cliniche, endoscopia e un
punto di primo intervento h 24”.
► HEALTH
The President of the Region Scopelliti
inaugurated an important health service
in the health centre of Scylla: the first regional center for assisted fertilization of
the first and second levels.
It is a new health service that aims to
achieve the objective of safeguarding
the reproductive function, with the use
of all medical, surgical and technology
methods in existence today to reach the
right diagnosis, and indicates the best
therapy for infertility or sterility of the
individual or better, the couple through
the implementation of techniques and
procedures falling under the term of Medically Assisted Procreation.
It ‘s the first public center of the first and
second levels that was opened in Calabria. President Scopelliti asserted that it
is an important response to Scylla. “This
center, I am convinced, will become a
cutting-edge facility. Here we have some
enhanced services including allergy treatment, medical oncology and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.
There are also pediatric clinics, dermatology and outpatient surgery. A few
months ago we even started treatment for
the prevention of fetal cardiac malformations, in addition to the already existing
outpatient endocrinology, ophthalmology, orthopedic and clinical analysis,
endoscopy and a 24hr first aid point “ .
