Costruire un edificio religioso è momento di alto
significato e valore che va oltre la dimensione
della comunità: diviene espressione ad un tempo
di fede e d'identità radicata nella continuità dei
valori, una concreta risposta alla generale crisi
della società in cui viviamo.
La nuova aula liturgica dedicata a San Lorenzo
con la sala per la catechesi e l'ufficio parrocchiale si misurano e si confrontano con una realtà
già fortemente caratterizzata costituita dalla piccola ma pregevole Chiesa dedicata a Santo
Stefano protomartire, la Casa Canonica e un
aggregato di abitazioni che assieme disegnano il
nucleo originario della frazione. Ad essi si è
affiancato in anni recenti un nutrito numero di
edifici di edilizia pubblica residenziale.
Nell'insieme il nuovo intervento si è posto in
modo dialettico e calibrato, senza imporre la propria presenza ma rendendo possibili proficue
relazioni visive e funzionali.
Building a Church is a very significant and precious moment that goes well beyond the local
community; it becomes an expression of faith
and deep-rooted identity in continued values, a
tangible response to the general crisis that our
society is going through.
The new liturgical wing dedicated to San Lorenzo,
the catechism room and parish office are introduced to a situation that is strongly characterised
by the small lovely Church dedicated to San
Stefano Protomartyr, the Parsonage and a group
of houses that form the original centre of the
hamlet. Over recent years a large number of
public houses has also been built.
Overall the new work is theoretically balanced,
without being imposing but creating visual and
functional relationships.

La nuova aula liturgica integra quella esistente,
non ne sovverte il ruolo e l'importanza. Tra le due
si apre un deambulatorio, un atrio che le connette
attraverso lo spazio comune della vecchia sacrestia. Verso sud-ovest la nuova aula è priva di facciata per non porsi in competizione con quella
neoclassica di Santo Stefano. Al contrario, verso
l'area verde a nord-est, si è realizzato un accesso
che recupera la tradizione delle belle chiese di
campagna con un essenziale portale incorniciato
da semplici muri che ne valorizzano la presenza.
The new liturgical wing incorporates the previous
one without upsetting its role and importance. An
ambulatory opens between them, a foyer that
joins them through the common space of the old
vestry. To the southwest, the new wing has no
façade so as not to compete with the neoclassic
façade of San Stefano. On the other hand, the garden area to the northeast has an entrance that is
built in the typical style of the lovely country churches, with a simple portal surrounded by simple
walls that exalt its essence.

Il grande serramento del presbiterio, organizzato secondo una parte
orizzontale ed una verticale, si
appoggia su pochi punti alla struttura sottostante costituita dalla
grande croce in cemento armato.
La parte orizzontale dell'infisso deve inoltre
essere praticabile per consentire la manu-
tenzione e la pulizia delle vetrate.
Di conseguenza i profili tubolari in
acciaio del telaio del serramento
sono chiamati ad assicurare alti
valori di resistenza flessionale,
rispondendo alla necessità di mettere in opera profili in acciaio contenuti nella sezione ma con alti
valori di robustezza al fine di rendere l'intero sistema di chiusura il
più luminoso e leggero possibile.
I serramenti del portico di ingresso sono
stati realizzati montando telai in acciaio con
l'inserimento di cerniere - sempre in acciaio
- completamente a scomparsa, alloggiate
internamente alla sezione del profilo dell'anta apribile e del telaio fisso. Questo contribuisce a rendere rigoroso ed essenziale il
disegno del prospetto del serramento, impreziosito esclusivamente dai maniglioni verticali in legno di rovere a tutta altezza.
Lo spazio vive della luce: la sua presenza
sottolinea ed esalta i principali fuochi liturgici
del presbiterio, inonda con generose lame
luminose la piccola cappella del fonte battesimale, qui recuperato come testimonianza
di continuità tra la nuova e la vecchia chiesa.
The shutter on the presbytery closes the large horizontal and vertical openings towards the sky, and

This makes the overall effect of the door

underlines and exalts the main liturgical flames of the presbytery, floods the small baptismal font chapel with generous strips of light,
which guarantee the continuity between the
old and the new church.
