Le Sale di Rappresentanza della Villa di Monza

di Savoia. Sono passati da qui, in visite più o meno
istituzionali, le più importanti figure di regnanti tra la
fine dell’Ottocento e gli inizi del Novecento, fra cui:
la zarina Maria, nata Principessa d’Assia e del Reno,
Imperatrice di Russia e consorte di Alessandro II; i
Sovrani di Grecia; Guglielmo I di Germania in visita di
stato ufficiale; la regina Vittoria d’Inghilterra.
The Villa Reale’s state rooms offer an eclectic example
of a mix of Neoclassic, late Baroque, bourgeois style
of the end of the nineteenth century, combined
with a reflection of the personal tastes of its most
illustrious resident: Queen Margherita of Savoy.
Many of the leading rulers of the late nineteenth and
early twentieth century passed through the Villa on
institutional or less-formal visits including: Czarina
Maria, born Princess of Hesse and Reno, Empress of
Russia and consort of Alexander II; heads of state of
Greece; Wilhelm I of Germany on a state visit; Queen
Victoria of England.
Il Grande Salone o Salone d’Onore è stato per secoli
il luogo della Villa riservato a grandi balli e a fastosi
ricevimenti. Qui Guglielmo I di Germania conobbe nel
1875 Vittorio Emanuele appena sedicenne. Preceduto
dall’imponente Atrio degli Staffieri, oggi è uno spazio
arioso e sofisticato, l’unico ambiente che copre due
piani d’altezza.
The Great Hall was for centuries where lavish
receptions and balls took place. Here Wilhelm I of
Germany met the then 16-year-old Vittorio Emanuele
in 1875. Leading off from the Entrance Hall, Atrio degli
Staffieri, today this is a spacious and sophisticated
area, the only part of the Villa to extend up to two
floors in height.
Un ambiente direttamente affacciato sul Grande
Salone, destinato a stanza di conversazione o a
“Sala del telefono”. Con la sistemazione ad opera
di Achille Majnoni d’Intimiano diventa spazio “di
rappresentanza” per gli ospiti. Gli arazzi che le danno
il nome sono conservati al Quirinale.
An area directly facing the Great Hall used as a
room for enjoying conversation or as a “Telephone
Room”. Having been renovated by Achille Majnoni of
Intimiano, it has become a reception room for guests.
The tapestries from where it derives its name are now
stored at the Quirinale, the official residence of the
President of the Republic.
Chiamata nel passato Sala Grande di Conversazione,
anche questa con un carattere di accoglienza
e rappresentanza, custodiva il Trono detto “di
Napoleone”.
Once known as the Great Conversation Room, this
room which acts as a reception room and for receiving
guests housed the “Napoleon” throne.
Un ambiente particolare che era caratterizzato
da volte decorate e da tappezzerie con soggetti
naturalistici realizzati dall’ornatista Carlo Antonio
Ranieri a inizio Ottocento. Ancora oggi rimane un
perfetto esempio di quella moda tutta europea
dell’esotismo, penetrata attraverso la diffusione di
motivi orientali dalle varie Esposizioni Universali ed
esaltata da una certa pittura del periodo.
A very distinctive room which was characterized by
decorations and wallpaper depicting natural subjects
created by the artist Carlo Antonio Ranieri in the early
nineteenth century. It remains to this day a perfect
example of that trend of exoticism unique to Europe,
which grew through the spreading of oriental designs
displayed in various Universal Exhibitions and which
exalts a certain pictorial style of the period.
Una grande sala, elegante e raffinata, che ha
ospitato nei secoli passati banchetti di Stato e grandi
ricevimenti. Fra questi il pranzo in occasione della visita
di Guglielmo II, Imperatore di Germania, ai regnanti di
Casa Savoia, svoltosi il 13 novembre del 1889.
A large elegant and refined room, called Sala à
Manger, which has played host throughout the
centuries to State banquets and gala dinners. Among
these is the visit of Emperor Wilhelm II of Germany to
the rulers of the Savoy family on November 13th 1889.
L’ultima sala era il luogo dove i membri della casa
Reale consumavano le loro déjeuners più private:
Umberto I, il Principe di Napoli Vittorio Emanuele e
Margherita, con pochi funzionari reali. L’ambiente più
intimo e più borghese, con riferimenti agli antenati di
Casa Savoia del XVII e XVIII secolo. Un luogo dove si
potrà essere realmente immersi nella storia.
The last room was where the members of the Royal
household had their more intimate déjeuners:
Umberto I, Prince of Naples Vittorio Emanuele and
Margherita, with few royal aides. It is the most private
and bourgeois room, with references to the forefathers
of the House of Savoy of XVII and XVIII century. A
place where one can really immerse oneself in history.
