Hello from Palestine,
I would like to appreciate your care and solidarity with my people. This honest stand
taken by your colleagues and comrades in FOS and in other trade unions,
associations, with free men and women in Belgium, brings hope and strength to our
struggle against the Israeli barbaric oppressors who proved, through their dirty war
against Palestinian people in Gaza, that they do not hesitate to perpetrate any
crime to defend their 47 years of occupation to Palestinian Lands. Your solidarity, side
by side with international solidarity around the world is very important to assure
loyalty to freedom, justice and to isolate the Israeli aggressors and let them pay, at
least ethical price, for their crimes against Gaza and Palestinian People.
For the past 50 days, daily life in West Bank changed radically. Civil society
organizations and trade unions were involved in actions, providing urgent assistance
to our people in Gaza. All cities, towns, villages and refugee camps become one
family. Men, women and children were inspired to collect every useful staff and send
to Gaza. The scene was amazing. It looked like a mosaic painting. Any outsider can
see , people who went to hospitals and medical clinics to donate blood. Young
volunteers, boys and girls, working in their neighborhoods to collect clothes, toilet
paper, blankets and, mattresses covers, even toys for children. Associations collect
clean waters, bread, food supplies. The Israeli aggressive war against Gaza unified
Palestinians in a very emotional but practical way. Beside the Israeli attacks, there
are brave fighters who arise to defend and steadfast the aggression. The smart
courage shown by fighters during clashes, becomes a new value and an icon
spread rabidly among young West Bankers. Militants and political activists, even
unpartisan volunteers, ( their numbers are big) confronted with Israeli Army and
settlers. I was witnessed (July 24 Qalandia barrier next to East Jerusalem) thousands
of people who gathered next to Ramallah Hospital, after ,midnight, to carry corpses
of two young guys (martyrs) who killed by Israeli soldiers during protest. Angry colored
their faces , their jeans and T shirts were colored with black from the burning tires ,
their bodies smell mixed with smoke. I felt , at that moment that , these people,
looked like worriers who just come from the front.
On the other side, hundreds of Palestinians who live inside Israel came to donation
centers with food supplies, cloths, water, and cash money which collected from
family and shops. In Fridays prays in mosques, prayers donate cash money some
with little, others with big amounts. In one mosque, half a million NIS collected in one
day.
Unified Palestinians in the West Bank managed, relatively, to overcome the shock of
seeing victims, and huge destruction left in Gaza. More than 2200 were killed, 80% of
them are civilians, around 11000 injured and wounded, more than 35000 building
were damaged partially or totally. Children have a big portion among victims. Two
million tons of building wreckage left in Gaza after Israeli raids and bombardment.
Nowadays, It looks like hell in Gaza.
Before the aggression start on July 8, 2014 , the situation was badly enough for
people who suffer from seven years imposed (by Israel) tighten blockade:
How can we accept this suffering? Of course we will not accept it. We are looking to
improve our capacities to put Israeli occupation to an end. Gaza taught us that we
should continue to struggle with all legal and available means, to win our freedom
back’
