Latana Phoung - Matthias

Latana Phoung (mezzosopraan)
is geboren in Parijs en heeft Algerijnse en Chinese ouders. Als mezzosopraan
studeerde zij af op de Guildhall School of Music en maakte haar studie af bij de
National Opera Studio.
Latana zong erg snel grote mezzosopraanpartijen zoals Gluck's Orpheus, Maddalena,
Brigitte van Franz Curti (Opera Studio of Geneva, Tour 2010-2012), Carmen
(Questor's Theatre, Londen), Marcellina (Actor's Church, Londen), Cherubino
(Frankrijk), Sorceress (Kent).
Ook zong zij bij het Longborough Festival (Don Giovanni) en bij de Pavilion Opera
(Gianetta en Notario / Carlotta) en recent bij Opera Machine (Suzuki voor Soho Theatre
en Bird Theatre in Japan).
Zij is net teruggekeerd van een tournee in Bermuda met het Musicanima Theatre
(Opera/Puppets). Als ervaren uitvoerster van oude muziek werd Latana uitgenodigd
om te zingen in het Händel House Museum, Foundling Museum en bij het ‘Festival of
the voice’ in Kingston.
Enthousiast kondigt zij haar debuut aan bij het Waterford Royal Theatre en het
Wexford Opera House in ‘The Invaders’ van Eric Sweeney in mei 2014.
Latana Phoung (mezzosopraan)
Born in Paris to Algerian and Chinese parents the mezzo-soprano Latana Phoung
graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and completed the intensive course with
the National Opera Studio.
Latana performed very quickly major mezzo-soprano roles like Gluck's Orpheus,
Maddalena, Brigitte by Franz Curti (Opera Studio of Geneva, Tour 2010-2012),
Carmen (Questor's Theatre, London), Marcellina (Actor's Church, London), Cherubino
(France), the Sorceress (Kent).
She also sung for Longborough Festival (Don Giovanni), Pavilion Opera (Gianetta and
Notario / Carlotta) and recently Opera Machine (Suzuki for Soho Theatre and Bird
Theatre in Japan).
She has just returned from a tour in Bermuda with Musicanima Theatre
(Opera/Puppets). An experienced early music performer, Latana was invited to sing at
Handel House Museum, Foundling Museum and for the Festival of the voice in
Kingston.
She is pleased to announce her debut at Waterford Royal Theatre and Wexford Opera
House in The Invaders by Eric Sweeney in May 2014.
