This is the first LED fixture to be developed on the basis of scientific research and specifically for the animal house environment. The LED fixture produces 32,500 lumen and consumes just 250 Watt. Making it easy to achieve a light level of 150-200 lux which is evenly distributed at floor level. It also brings energy savings of around 60% compared with conventional fixtures. Scientific research demonstrates that 150-200 lux above dairy cattle guarantees up to 15% higher milk yield and improves animal welfare. These benefits mean a short cost recovery time for this new product. Scientific research Scientific research carried out in collaboration with WUR shows that dairy cattle hardly perceive red light. The AGRILED® pro 32 fixture incorporates a red LED light as standard, which allows livestock farmers to check animals at night without disturbing them. It has also been scientifically proven that a high light level is good for dairy cattle as it improves fertility, reduces the calving interval and extends the lactation period. By extending the day, it also ensures that less dominant animals consume sufficient feed. Sustainable product Thanks to the substantial energy savings, the fixture is eligible for subsidies which are targeted at this area. The LEDs used in the fixture have a service life of 60,000 operating hours. For dairy cattle housing, this means that the LED lighting will theoretically last for 30 years. And thanks to outstanding heat management, the other components used in the AGRILED® pro 32 fixture also enjoy this long service life. Light management system The AGRILED pro 32 lighting system is easy to control using the dedicated light management system which will be available from early 2015. This management system allows the light in dairy cattle housing to be regulated and operated to meet individual requirements. Fixtures can be switched on and off or dimmed independently, providing convenience for the livestock farmer which also results in additional energy savings.
