Cet immeuble à l’architecture expressive construit au début des années 90, constituait à l’origine une
extension du siège de la compagnie d’assurance DVV (Dexia) situé avenue Livingstone.
Suite au départ de l’occupant, la décision fût prise de scinder le complexe en deux entités distinctes,
l’extension devant acquérir de ce fait son autonomie au niveau de ses accès piétons et de ses installations techniques.
Une nouvelle passerelle d’accès piétonne a été implantée afin de rejoindre le vaste atrium central
existant organisant les circulations dans l’immeuble, et la coursive intérieure a été élargie pour pouvoir
accueillir la zone de réception.
Le bâtiment a par ailleurs été adapté et rénové afin de lui permettre d’accueillir le nouveau centre de
formation de la Commission Européenne, soit 60 salles d’une capacité totale de 1420 personnes ainsi
qu’un restaurant, un centre de documentation et des espaces de bureaux.

hoofdkwartier. Een verzekeringsmaatschappij aan de Livingstonelaan.
De beslissing om het complex in twee apparte entiteiten te splitsen werd genomen wanneer de bezitter
vertrokken was. De uitbreiding moest autonoom gemaakt worden op vlakken van toegankelijkheid en
technische installaties.
Een nieuwe wandelbrug verbindt het straatniveau met de nieuwe ingang. De receptie bevind zich nu op
een verbreedde passerelle binnen het grootte bestaande atrium dat tevens als circulatie ruimte dient
voor het hele gebouw.
Verder is het gebouw aangepast en gerenoveerd om als opleidingscentrum te dienen voor de Europeese
Commissie. Met andere woorden, 60 zalen met een totale capaciteit van 1420 personen, een restaurant,
een documentatiecentrum en burelen.
This architecturally expressive building was built beginning nineties as an extension of the DVV (Dexia)
headquarters. An insurance company located on the Livingstone Avenue.
Due to the departure of the tenant, the decision was taken to split the complex into two distinctive
entities. In order for the extension to become autonomous a new pedestrian access had to be created
and the technical installations had to be adjusted.
The new entrance is accessible via a new footbridge connecting the building to the street. The new
reception area is on a widened walkway, located inside the large existing atrium organizing the circulation throughout the building.
The building has furthermore been adapted and renovated to house the new training center of the European Commission, containing 60 rooms with a capacity of 1420 people, a restaurant, a documentation
center and office space.
