Dear customer,
As from the 1st January 2015, all shipping lines operating within the Emission Control Areas in the
Baltic Sea, Northern Sea, English Channel and the coasts of Canada and USA, will be required to
utilize fuel with maximum 0.1% sulphur content.
This binding requirement is set out by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and
regulated by MARPOL under Annex VI.
As environmental protection is one of the core values for COSCON we fully support these new
regulations for a cleaner air in coastal areas.
The ability to meet this reduced sulphur emission requires our vessels to utilize a much higher
grade fuel, which comes at a substantially higher cost. Every effort is and will be made to minimize
this additional cost, however, it will be necessary to share this increased expense with our
customers.
Accordingly, COSCON will implement a Low Sulphur Surcharge as from the 1st of January 2015 in
accordance with the cargo receiving date, for shipments moving from/to this Emission Control
Areas on all COSCON Atlantic services.
Far East(include Japan) to/from North Europe: Usd 20,-/TEU
South East Asia to/from North Europe: Usd 25,-/TEU
Indian Subcontinent to/from North Europe: Usd 25,-/TEU
Mediterranean and North Europe to/from North America: Usd 75,-/TEU
East Coast of South America to/from North Europe: Usd 30,-/TEU
Intra-Europe: Usd 25,-/TEU
