Persbericht Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Amsterdam presenteert Francesca Grilli Artist Talk Een gesprek tussen film en video art met Lorenzo Benedetti en Massimo Benvegnú Donderdag 10 april, 20.30 uur Istituto Italiano di Cultura Keizersgracht 564, Amsterdam Het Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Amsterdam opent een reeks ontmoetingen met Italiaanse kunstenaars van internationale portee, aan wie gevraagd zal worden te spreken over hun eigen werk en over de invloeden hierop van hun favoriete films. In een tijdperk waarin de markeringslijn tussen cinema en videoart, tussen vertelling en documentaire steeds subtieler wordt, zal deze kunstenaars, in het gesprek gestimuleerd door een curator en door een filmcriticus, worden gevraagd om hun ervaringen te vertellen met de creatie, het bedenken en het en het ontwikkelen van beelden. Hoofdrolspeelster in de eerste ontmoeting is Francesca Grilli, die enkele van haar videowerken zal presenteren, zoals “Gordon” (2007) en “Oro” (2010), waarvan zij de totstandkoming zal toelichten, alsook enkele voor haar belangrijke films, waaronder “Picnic at Hanging Rock” van Peter Weir en “Anna” van Alberto Grifi en Massimo Sarchielli. Deze laatste film is van groot belang voor de band tussen de Italiaanse cinema en experimentele kunst. Curator en kunstcriticus Lorenzo Benedetti en programmateur en filmcriticus Massimo Benvegnú zullen Francesca Grilli vergezellen tijdens deze reis langs beelden. Deze reeks ontmoetingen onder leiding van Marco Nember, zal in de komende maanden vervolgd worden. Francesca Grilli (Bologna, 1978) woont en werkt tussen Amsterdam en Italië. Ze was winnares van de Premio Internazionale della Performance in 2006. Sinds 2008 maakt ze deel uit van de Fies Factory, Centrale Fies. In 2013 nam ze deel aan ‘Viceversa’, een expositie verzorgd door Bartolomeo Pietromarchi voor het Italiaanse Paviljoen van de 55e editie van de Biënnale van Venetië. Lorenzo Benedetti (Rome, 1972) woont en werkt tussen Nederland en Frankrijk. Per 1 juni aanstaande wordt hij de nieuwe directeur van De Appel Arts Centre in Amsterdam. Hij was vanaf 2008 directeur van de Vleeshal in Middelburg en verzorgde in 2013 het Nederlandse Paviljoen van de 55e editie van de Biënnale van Venetië. Massimo Benvegnú (Padova, 1972) woont en werkt in Amsterdam. In un periodo storico in cui la linea di demarcazione tra cinema e videoarte, tra narrazione e documentario, è sempre piú sottile, gli artisti, stimolati nella conversazioneda un curatore d’arte e da un critico cinematografico, saranno chiamati a raccontare la loro esperienza nella creazione, ideazione e sviluppo di immagini. La protagonista del primo incontro è Francesca Grilli, che presenterá alcuni suoi lavori in video, come “Gordon” (2007) e “Oro” (2010), accostandoli alla sua pratica performativa, e diversi film per lei importanti, tra cui “Picnic ad Hanging Rock” di Peter Weir e “Anna” di Alberto Grifi e Massimo Sarchielli, titolo di seminale importanza nel rapporto tra cinema italiano e sperimentazione artistica. Ad accompagnare Francesca Grilli in questo viaggio per immagini, il curatore e critico d’arte Lorenzo Benedetti e il programmatore e critico cinematografico Massimo Benvegnú.
