2.1
Cursus doel
The Master class will provide the following high level learning outcomes. The student:
Has consummate knowledge of and profound insight into key aspects and viewpoints of managing
(complex, large scale and strategy-critical) Change-driven projects and is capable of deciding on
and executing appropriate actions to ensure that these project results are effective and sustainable.
Is capable of successfully managing (complex, large scale and strategy-critical) Change-driven
projects within their context of programs, portfolios, organizations, stakeholders and society,
taking into consideration the project’s economic, environmental and social impact.
Able to (also in communication with stakeholder parties and the general public) assess, evaluate
and reflect upon the relevance, risks, effectiveness and efficiency of a Change-driven project to an
organization, before the start of, during the execution of and after completion of the project. And
can formulate conclusions with respect to short and long term adaptations and improvements, also
with regard to (the further development of) their own competencies.
2.2
Cursus inhoud
Projects are the agents of change and innovation. If they fail organizations lose ground on their
competition or the ever changing needs of the customers. They risk missing out on the market,
missing opportunities or reducing the cost of operations.
It is for this reason the Change-driven projects are not only managed appropriately but that real
and sustainable change is achieved. Changing behavior, attitudes and culture is a complex and
challenging task to say the least.
This Master Class provides the necessary knowledge, insight and skills in the field of behavior and
cultural change. The objective is to provide hands-on skills and techniques to aid Change-driven
projects to not only deliver within time / money and quality but also ensure adequate and
sustainable benefits are achieved through behavioral change.
It is a well-known fact that behavior and culture are very hard to influence. Stakeholders
engagement and project governance principles are addressed including the relevant tools and
techniques to unsure active engagement of key stakeholders is achievable and clear and effective
decision making, monitoring and execution procedures are put in place to aid corporate
governance of change. Concepts and practices in organizational change help the delegates to
initiate Change-driven projects and create an environment that is conducive to change.
Ultimately the Master Class enables the student to perform an analysis of the change approach
required for an organization. Develop a plan for change, incorporating the latest insights on
Stakeholder Engagement in the development.

Cursus doel
The aim of Personal Profiling is to give the student the opportunity to meet personal interests or
specific learning goals. 5 EC is devoted to the profiling space.
2.2
Cursus inhoud
De master of Project Management offers students the possiblity to personalise their program.
During the master the student can follow a 5 EC masterclass of another HU-master program.
Depending on the work experiece of the student an IPMA-certification on at least C-level could
also be an option.
The subject matter must be discussed with the program manager of MPM.

2.1
Cursus doel
This Masterclass provides the require knowledge and understanding of the broad field of corporate
strategy and general management. It aims to give insight in and become sensitive of the business
and environmental context in which the project manager operates. It gives an open eye for the
business surroundings and pressures which every project is embedded in. It deals with the
language of business and business objectives, which must be acceptable to organizational
stakeholders and coalitions before any strategy can be implemented.
2.2
Cursus inhoud
Topics that are dealt with in this Masterclass include:
· Gaining strategic insight and knowledge of the business context by exploring the success factors
of highly successful companies and to take advantage from the lessons to be learned from the
experiences of these companies. Among the themes that will be discussed are: leadership, people
management, analyses of the (business) environment, vision, mission, strategy, corporate culture,
the role of (information) technology, etc.;
· Gaining knowledge and insight on defining characteristics of program and portfolio management
within the context of an organization aiming to achieve it’s strategic business objectives. A variety
of frameworks is introduced that can be used to understand and to effectively manage projects
within the wider organizational and program/portfolio management context, such as ‘Managing
Successful Programs’ (MSP) and ‘Management of Portfolios’ (MoP), both developed in the United
Kingdom.

Cursus doel
The main purpose of this Master Class is to develop a thorough understanding of the principles,
processes and products of Value Based Project management, to apply these principles, processes
and products and to reflect on the students personal development in applying these principles,
processes and products.
2.2
Cursus inhoud
A founding principle for all project management methodologies is that every project must have a
continued business justification (or words to that extent). This is then often translated to the
Business Case of a project. Value driven projects move beyond the pure financial driven business
cases to broader Value drivers leading the project decision making.
Value driven Project Management concerns itself with the continuous measurement of the
contributions of programs or projects to the strategic goals of an organization. Through thorough
analysis of required business changes alternative solutions are identified. Cost-benefit analysis of
the alternatives in which financial and non-financial goals have a weighted contribution to the end
result, thus showing the best choice in terms of contributions to the organizational goals. This
(conventional) change process may lead to management’s decision to start up a project or program.
It is the process to justify the decision to start the project and – during the lifecycle of the project –
to track and decide on deviations from the project/program plan and in the project/program
environment. The deviations are fed into the applicable cost-benefit-analysis model and may lead
to an update in the project/program charter. This process iterates until either the organizational
goals are achieved or management prematurely (for good reasons) closes the process. It is
therefore about optimizing the benefits of business change.
Value driven Project Management also concerns itself with the uncertain aspects of a the Business
Case. What can go wrong, or can be optimized beyond expectation? Which threats are around and
which opportunities? Not only to the project itself, but also to the resulting deliverables and the
environment in which those results are going to be used. The master class offers structural ways to
deal with uncertainty of outcome (whether positive of negative), thereby minimized the impact of
risks and optimizing the use of opportunities.
Project managers that ignore risks and opportunities will most likely fail to deliver agreed results
within agreed constraints (time, cost, quality). The mere characteristic of a project that it is a
unique undertaking, elaborates the importance of managing all those things that can go
unexpected, for better or worse.
