READY FOR A MAGICAL LIGHT SHOW / PRÊTS POUR UN NOUVEAU SPECTACLE DE LUMIÈRE ÉBLOUISSANT !
Ghent will blaze with light for the third time at the Light Festival from January 29th until February 1st 2015. The long-awaited third
edition of this festival will run for four days with a festival route even longer than last time, along which you can see all kinds of light sculptures, spectacular
projects and installations by contemporary national and international artists. Students will demonstrate experiments with light and Ghent University has
created an interactive route with scientific light installations in the UFO building. Enjoy the walk and experience the surprising variety of light creations.
Pour la troisième fois, Gand s’illuminera à l’occasion du Festival de la Lumière qui se tiendra du 29 janvier au 1er février 2015. Cette nouvelle édition tant
attendue du festival, qui durera quatre jours, proposera un parcours plus long qui permettra aux visiteurs de découvrir différentes sculptures lumineuses,
des projections spectaculaires et des installations d’artistes contemporains nationaux et internationaux. Des étudiants dévoileront leurs expérimentations
lumineuses et l’Université de Gand proposera un parcours interactif jalonné d’installations scientifiques dans le bâtiment UFO. Profitez de ce circuit à
découvrir à pied et laissez-vous surprendre par ses nombreuses créations lumineuses !

The Light Festival will be held in the Historical Centre and Arts Quarter of Ghent.
The five kilometer route passes many historic sites and monuments.

Re-Construct gives you the opportunity to make a monument rise back
out of the ground with a single well-aimed blow of the hammer.

Words are projected onto the crumbling grey wall. They appear to stand upright
when viewed from the Walpoortbrug, not in perspective as you would expect.
Des mots sont projetés sur le mur gris délabré. Des mots qui, quand on les regarde
du Walpoortbrug, sont bien droits et non en perspective comme on pourrait s’y
attendre.
In a small gallery space, in a basement with large windows, someone has
just left the room. The standby lights of electrical equipment flash on and off.
Dans une petite galerie située dans un sous-sol équipé de grandes fenêtres, quelqu’un vient de quitter la pièce. Les petites lumières de veille des
appareils électriques s’éclairent.
Witty statements light up various places along the festival route. Some LED boards
jump right out at you, but others are concealed in the shadows.

white light, but their gigantic size also hints at the ecological devastation

The ‘pond skaters’ float on the water and light up in the dark. The playful
