Workshop met John Burnham op 11 september 2014 te Utrecht
Spontaneity Takes a lot of Practice!

Benadering – Methode - Techniek
In this workshop John will invite you to consider and refresh how you use and extend
play and playfulness in your practice with children and families.
Play will be considered within the reflexive
reflexiv framework of 'Approach-Method
MethodTechnique' (Burnham 1992). ‘Approach’ considers the place of play in our lives and
practice. ‘Method’ includes how we can organise a context for playfulness and
‘Technique’ specifies useful patterns for playful practice,
For some practitioners play and playfulness is a spontaneous and imaginative act
that is created in the moment and is often difficult to explain. Other practitioners
prefer to take more time to organise contexts in which play can be used. Both ways
of doing
oing playfulness will be explored.
John Burnham (on the right) is a systemic psychotherapist working in the
independent and public sectors. His practice includes therapy, supervision, training,
consultation and writing. His main clinical work is with children, young p
people and
families in CAMHS at Parkview Clinic, Birmingham Children’s Hospital where he is
employed as a Consultant Systemic and Family Psychotherapist and Director of the
Systemic Training Programme. John has 35 years of experience working with
families, couples and individuals. He is formerly Director of Training at Kensington
Consultation Centre (KCC) in London. As well as training in the UK, he teaches in a
variety of contexts including
uding Scandinavia, USA, and South America.
