• You do not use the old technology anymore.
The history of the Internet is meaningless
unless you can learn lessons from them.

There has been a strict rule.

1. ARPAnet can be used only if the condition
was met. The name of the strict rule is called
AUP, Acceptable Use Policy.
Commercial use is not allowed.

Exercise (based on the textbook)
Q: Many people start new business firms in
the US, especially in Silicon Valley area.
You can see many new enterprises there.
However, nobody started a new business
which utilized the Internet in 1980’s. Why?

Questions raised by students
• Is there any appropriate textbook in English which
replaces the Japanese textbook shown in the class?
※ 授業で使うテキストの英語版がありますか？
• No, the textbook does not cover the standard
introductory material. It deals with serious issues
of the current Internet. There is no English
textbook which covers the same topics.
※ 残念。ありません。このテキストは普通の入門
書ではなくて、現在のインターネットの問題点、課
題を解説しています。類書がないのです。
