►To obtain the minimum
emittance, the laser
wavelength should be
optimized to the band gap,
which depends on the
cathode material/structure.

ERL
Basic Requirement (3)
►Full demonstration is not
possible with this 500nm
laser, but its could be
achieved partly with trade
Eg=1.5 eV
offs among
●Emittance,
●Beam current,
●Bunch length,
●Beam size, etc.

Start up with Ti:S oscillator
►Ti:S oscillator is applicable and upgradeable to
– Initial cathode/gun test.
– Seed for Yb fiber amplifier -> 500nm
(SHG)
– Seed for OPA ~ 800nm.
►Start with a narrow band 1.3 Ghz Ti:S oscillator
►Upgrade to an ultra-wide band 1.3Ghz Ti:S
oscillator

►Infrastructure for Laser R&D.
– Work Space : AR north
– Temperature and humidity controlled clean booth
(6x3.5m) : purchase
– Optical table (4x1.5m) : recycle
– Optical parts : purchase
►Refine the R&D strategy.
►Investigation for laser companies.
►Purchase Ti:S oscillator if any resource was available.
►Is anything possible with a smaller budget?
