エボラ出血熱
(Ebola hemorrhagic fever)
1994年コートジボアール、1996 年ガボン：この2カ所
での発生にはいずれもチンパンジーが関与しているが、
チンパンジーはヒトと同様終末宿主であり、自然界の宿
主ではないとされている。前者は、死亡したチンパンジー
の解剖に携わっていたスイス人女性が感染したもので、
後者では、森で死亡していたチンパンジーに子供たちが
接触し、感染発症したことが発端である。

患者の発生があるたびに周辺
で生態調査が行われているにもか
かわらず、自然宿主の特定には
至ってはいない。
最も重要な特徴は、血液や体
液との接触によりヒトからヒトへ感
染が拡大し、多数の死者を出す流
行を起こすことであり、しばしば注
目を浴びている。

20 February 2008: End of Ebola outbreak in Uganda
7 December 2007: Ebola haemorrhagic fever in Uganda – update
The number of suspected cases has now risen to 93,
including 22 fatalities. Laboratory analysis has confirmed
the presence of a new species of the virus in 9 of these
cases.
30 November 2007: Ebola haemorrhagic fever in Uganda
51 suspected cases, including 16 deaths have been
reported. Among the reported cases, 3 health care workers
were also infected, including one fatality.
