shnit International Shortfilmfestival is a
premium venue for the exhibition and
promotion of short films. The festival is an
exceptional twelve day event with a unique
concept – a transnational film festival
simultaneously taking place in 8 cities on five
continents worldwide. The festival includes
three main events – shnit PLAYGROUNDS,

In its twelve years of existence, shnit has
become a major international short film
festival that reinvents itself in ever new
forms. What started as a local initiative is

to actively increase the perception of short

ФЕСТИВАЛЬ
shnit International Shortfilmfestival является

TERMS AND CONDITIONS [EN]
[1] THE ORGANISATION
• The shnit International Shortfilmfestival is a non-profit organisation.
The annual festival and its sections are created and centrally
coordinated by the shnit FOUNDATION in cooperation with the
PLAYGROUND executives. The organisation is built on principles of
excellence and professionalism, enabling the global expansion of
the festival. This requires active cooperation between PLAYGROUND
executives which, in return, strengthens the transnational network
o f « s h o r t fi l m m a k e r s » a n d t h e g ro w i n g c o m m u n i t y o f
«shortfilmlovers». The festival delivers a high quality programme of
new and established international short films.
• The shnit FOUNDATION (CH-036.7.053.240-1) is an international not
for profit registered foundation based in Switzerland.
• The final selection of all films presented at the festival and their
placement in the programme is the responsibility of the festival
board.
[2] ELIGIBILITY
• The participation is open to everyone.
• The festival is open to short films of all production techniques,
including animation, documentary, drama, experimental or artist
film and hybrid work from low to high budgets.
• Films must have a running time of 40 minutes or less, including
credits (see also [3] AWARDS & PRIZES).
• The festival does not require any premiere status but notes that this
may come into consideration during the selection process. Films
must have been completed after 1 June 2013.
• Films that have previously been submitted to the festival will not be
accepted. While the festival does accept works-in-progress, films
will only be considered for programming for the year in which they
are first submitted.
• All non-English language films (or non-standard English language
dialects) must provide English subtitles.
• Submissions may NOT be withdrawn from the festival once they
have been entered, except at the sole discretion of the festival.
• All films are eligible for the corresponding category within the
international or national competitions. In consultation with the
filmmaker the selection committee reserves the right to offer a
place in non competitive programmes.
[3] AWARDS & PRIZES
• In total a prize money of US-$ 100.000* is awarded.

2015 at the latest.* Bank charges (if applicable) are to be borne by
the recipient of the prize money.
• The following PLAYGROUNDS are arranging to hold national
competitions in 2015: Bern - SWISS MADE | Bangkok - MADE IN
THAILAND | Buenos Aires - MADE IN ARGENTINA | Cape Town MADE IN SOUTH AFRICA | Kyoto - MADE IN JAPAN | Moscow - MADE
IN RUSSIA | San José - MADE IN COSTA RICA. All national
competitions will be awarded according to each PLAYGROUND’s
policy. All further details are announced in the respective section of
the website www.shnit.org.
[4] ENTRY PROCEDURE & FEEDBACK SYSTEM
There are two different submission categories for entering a short
film: shnit OPEN – PRO ENTRY (with entry fee, see [4.1]) or shnit OPEN
– BASIC ENTRY (without entry fee, see [4.2]). The submitter can
choose freely to which category he wants to submit his film. Both
submission categories qualify a film to apply for the International
competition shnit OPEN 2015 and all rights associated therewith.
• You can submit your film through our website www.shnit.org.
Aditionally shnit has partnered with web portals to accept digital
submissions. For submission on our partner platforms please refer
to the respective guidelines on their websites (reelport.com,
shortfilmdepot.com and withoutabox.com). Please choose ONE way
to submit your film.
[4.1] shnit OPEN – PRO ENTRY (with entry fee):
• With shnit OPEN – PRO ENTRY the festival provides a feedback
system which is unique within the scope of film festivals. The aim is
to give filmmakers a valuable feedback to their work to enhance
their artistic potential for future projects and for other festival
submissions. Usually festivals do not give any substantial nor
personal feedback .
• The submitter receives the following extra add-on package:
• Personal individual feedback for every film you enter
• Free online access to shnit EXPANDED
• There is a submission fee to enter your films to shnit OPEN – PRO
ENTRY. These costs are equal to the administrational expenses of
the entries in order to guarantee individual treatment for the
feedback system. As soon as the submitter pays the entry fee, he
will be automatically considered for the feedback system.

• Audiences and Jury Awards will not be awarded to the same film.
• The director has to attend the award ceremony on 17/18 October
2015 in New York City in order to receive the award, the cash prize
and the statuette THE FLAMING FAUN. All awards will be handed
personally to the director. In exceptional cases only, a representative
can be put in charge (upon agreement with the festival board).
• Winners shall mention their awards in future copies of the winning
short film as well as in their professional resumes, web pages and
similar media.
• The first half of the prize money will be paid out by bank transfer
within 20 days upon receipt of all necessary bank details. The

back services no later than 31/12/2015
[4.2] shnit OPEN – BASIC ENTRY (without entry fee):
• shnit OPEN – BASIC ENTRY does not require any entry fee. Please
note that in this case the festival does not comment on individual
films or offer feedback for unsuccessful entries.
[4.3] Guidelines for submission on www.shnit.org:
• Official deadline for entries: 1 June 2015.
• The entry form with all the required information, accompanied by a
preview copy needs to be sent until 1 June 2015 (postmarked –make
sure that the package arrives by 6 June the latest).
• Preview copies are accepted on the following formats (PAL or NTSC):
DVD, BluRay, hard drive or USB pen drive.
• Preview copies must be labeled with title, running time and contact
information. DO NOT send film prints, master tapes or other
originals.
• Submission parcels must be labelled „NO COMMERCIAL VALUE –
FOR CULTURAL PURPOSES ONLY“. The value of goods is to be
declared with 1 US-$ .
• Shipping costs for preview copies will neither be refunded nor
returned. Preview copies will be digitised and stored in the festival
archive.
• Preview copies must be sent to the following address:

• Film stills: preferably 2 different high-definition film stills, TIFF or
JPEG, 300dpi or higher. Email to: [email protected]. Please write the
title of the film in the subject line of the email.
• Several films may be submitted. A separate entry form is required
for each film submission.
• Illegible or incomplete entry forms will not be accepted.
• Additional material such as press packs and production information
are not required at this stage and should not be included.

[5] NOTIFICATION & SELECTION
• Arrival of submissions and preview copies cannot be confirmed.
• An independent selection committee is appointed by the festival to
view all submissions for programming consideration. All entries are
first considered for competition programmes, but will also be
considered for other programmes where appropriate. Decisions
made by the selection committee are final.
• After selection, notification letters will be sent electronically:
please provide an email address, and ensure that the domain
shnit.org is permitted to email you. Submitted entrants will be
informed about acceptance in July or about rejection of each film in
August 2015.
• Participants are not entitled to claim rental or other fees for the
screenings of their films at the festival.
[6] SUBMISSION OF SCREENING COPIES
• The festival informs the participants personally about the
submission of the screening copies. Please do not submit screening
copies before you get the instructions. We request a digital file for
screening: Video tape formats or film prints are not applicable.
• Screening copies must be submitted before 20 July 2015.
• The participant is responsible for the costs of sending the screening
copy to the festival. The festival covers the costs of returning or
forwarding screening copies.
• If the original language of the film is not English (or a non-standard
English language dialect) the screening copy has to be subtitled in
English.
[7] shnit FESTIVAL
• The 2015 festival takes place in eight cities (PLAYGROUNDS) on five
continents: All cities are announced in August 2015 the latest.
• The festival date is 7 – 18 October 2015. The dates of the festival

The festival hosts industry professionals and guests, and offers
guest and meeting services. (See also [10] VISITING THE FESTIVAL).
Extracts of the film (under 3 minutes or up to 10% of the total length
of the film) and film stills may be used at the festival, for media
coverage (including but not limited to TV broadcasting, cinema
trailers, online media) and promotional, archival and other noncommercial purposes.
Contact information for all films selected for screening at the 2015
festival will be published in the festival catalogue and on the
website.
The festival will make previews, of films selected to screen in the
2015 festival, available to the media and official jury members.
Before the festival a selection of films from the 2015 festival may be
screened as a PREVIEW SCREENING. Filmmakers whose films are
being screened in those circumstances will be informed about the
places and dates of the screening.
At the festival section shnit PLAYGROUNDS, 7 – 11 October 2015 the
festival programme will be screened publicly for the first time. All
audience votes for the PLAYGROUNDS ARWARD will take place
within the screenings of shnit PLAYGROUNDS.
For each award category three films are nominated. A total of 15
films will be nominated. The festival will host the nominated films
within the festival section shnit CINEMAS from 7 – 18 October 2015.

The festival section shnit EXPANDED hosts an «online screening»
which is located in a password-protected secure online
environment on the festival website. Access is granted against
payment of a fee or by invitation only. For the duration of six days,
all nominated films of the international competition shnit OPEN
2015 will be shown.
The festival section shnit CINEMAS also showcases the nominated
films in selected cinemas and cultural centres around the world.
All audience votes for the CINEMAS ARWARD will take place within
the screenings of shnit CINEMAS.
The festival section shnit FINALE presents all 15 nominated films
from the international competition shnit OPEN in New York.
• Following shnit FINALE the five winning films will be made available,
for a duration of three days until 21 October 2015 in a passwordprotected secure online environment for a fee or by invitation only.
• After the festival a selection of films from the 2015 festival may be
screened as a BEST OF programme, in cinemas and cultural centres
around the world. Filmmakers whose films are being screened as
BEST OF will be informed about the places and dates of the
screenings.
[8] VISITING THE FESTIVAL
• The directors of selected films are invited to be guests of the
festival and the festival may cover the expenses of their stay
(private accommodations, professional accreditation). All
hospitality arrangements are assigned by the respective managers
of each section (shnit PLAYGROUNDS or shnit FINALE) and remain
limited within one’s reach.
• The festival would like to arrange for as many filmmakers of the
2015 selection as possible to visit the festival. Regrettably, no
matter how much we would like to cover transport costs, the
festival is restricted by budget constraints. The festival therefore
cannot cover travel expenses. The festival tries to seek support from
local cultural embassies. With their support, a part of the travel
expenses may be covered exceptionally.
• If the director or producer of the film cannot attend the Festival, the
invitation may be forwarded to another member of the film crew.
• More information about guest services will be provided personally
to successful applicants.
[9] LIABILITY
• The sender of the submitted film is responsible for all copyrights.

He is legally authorised to enter his short film in the festival and, if
selected for the festival, authorised to give screening permission.
The applicant has secured all necessary rights for both picture and
sound, and exhibition will not violate or infringe upon any rights,
including but not limited to music, images, and content.
If selected for the festival the applicant acknowledges and agrees
that an exhibition quality digital screening file must be made
available for screening by 20 July 2015.
The film, including all copyrights, remains the property of the
author.
The films will be handled with the outmost care. However, the
festival management will assume no liability for damages or loss.
If screenings or information are inaccurate or flawed, the
organiser is only liable in case of gross negligence.
The applicant has to read and accept the regulations and
guidelines for participation.
Failure to comply with these terms and conditions may result in
the submission being disqualified.
In the event of disagreement concerning the interpretation of the
terms and conditions, the interpretation of the festival will take
precedence.
The festival is obliged not to use or dispose of any films for
commercial purposes. Any further use of a film will be inquired.
The non-profit nature of the foundation’s activities guarantees
that the works submitted will be used only to advance the cultural
objectives of the shnit FOUNDATION.
These regulations are subject to change without prior notice.
*For reasons of planning security the shnit International
Shortfilmfestival has to link the amount of 100.000 US-$ (5 x 20.000
US-$) to the monetary balance of the Swiss Franc (CHF). Record
date is 15 January 2015. The exact paid-off prize money amount will
be determined at the time of transfer (more precisely on 9
November 2015). NOTE: The amount either corresponds to the
equivalent of 20.000 US-$ or (in case of currency weakness of the
Swiss franc) will be converted to the corresponding amount in US-$
in relation to the exchange rate of Swiss francs (CHF) according to
the record date. No legal claim on the part of applicants can be
asserted in terms of cash prizes.
** Note: for the sake of readability the masculine form was chosen
in the text above. Nevertheless the specifications are meant for
both genders.

• Zugelassen sind Filme aller Genres und Produktionstechniken;

und Kunstfilme.
Zugelassen sind Filme bis max. 40 Minuten inklusive Vor- und Abspann
(siehe auch [3] AUSZEICHNUNGEN & PREISGELD)
Das Festival setzt keinen Premierenstatus voraus. Im Rahmen des
Auswahlverfahrens kann dieser jedoch als Kriterium in Betracht
gezogen werden. Zugelassen sind Filme, die nach dem 1. Juni 2013
fertiggestellt wurden.
Eine wiederholte Einreichung ist nicht möglich. Das Festival erlaubt
Filme im Stadium «Work-in-Progress», eingereichte Filme werden
jedoch nur im Jahr ihrer ersten Einreichung berücksichtigt.
Ist die Originalsprache des Films nicht Englisch oder Deutsch, sollte
die Sichtungskopie Englisch oder Deutsch untertitelt sein. Andernfalls
muss eine englische oder deutsche Textliste beigelegt werden.
Nach der Aufnahme in einen Wettbewerb kann der Film nicht mehr
zurückgezogen werden.
Alle Filme sind zugelassen für die jeweils zutreffende Kategorie im
internationalen Wettbewerb sowie für den jeweiligen nationalen
Wettbewerb. In Absprache mit dem Einsender behält sich die
Auswahlkommission vor, dem Film gegebenenfalls eine Aufnahme in
einem andern Programm anzubieten.

Gewinner werden dazu aufgefordert, ihre Auszeichnung in zukünftigen
Filmkopien so wie in ihrem professionellen Lebenslauf, auf ihrer
Webseite und ähnlichen Medien anzugeben.
Die erste Hälfte des Preisgeldes wird innert 30 Tagen nach Erhalt aller
nötigen Angaben per Bankverbindung überwiesen. Die zweite Hälfte

[4] EINREICHUNGSMODALITÄTEN & FEEDBACK
SYSTEM
shnit bietet zwei Möglichkeiten zur Einreichung eines Films: shnit OPEN
– PRO ENTRY (mit Anmeldegebühr siehe [4.1]) oder shnit OPEN – BASIC
ENTRY (ohne Anmeldegebühr siehe [4.2]). Der Einsender kann frei
entscheiden, über welches Anmeldungsverfahren er seinen Film
einsenden möchte. Beide Anmeldungsverfahren berechtigen zur
Bewerbung um eine Teilnahme am Internationalen Wettbewerb shnit
OPEN 2015 einschliesslich aller damit verbundenen Rechte.
• shnit hat neben www.shnit.org zusätzliche Partnerplattformen um
die digitale Einreichung von Sichtungskopien zu ermöglichen. Zur
Einreichung über eine unserer Partnerplattformen sind die
jeweiligen Reglemente und Preise von PRO ENTRY auf der
entsprechenden Website zu konsultieren (Die drei wichtigsten
Plattformen sind: reelport.com, shortfilmdepot.com und
withoutabox.com). Bitte nur über EINE Plattform Filme einreichen.
[4.1] shnit OPEN – PRO ENTRY (mit Anmeldegebühr):
• shnit OPEN – PRO ENTRY bietet dem Einsender ein System für
Rückmeldungen und Feedbacks. Im Normalfall ist es Filmfestivals
nicht möglich, persönliche Rückmeldungen zu geben. Ziel dieses
Systems ist es deshalb, Filmschaffenden eine hochwertige Rückmeldung und Einschätzung ihrer Arbeit zu geben, um sowohl
inhaltlich, wie filmästhetisch Erkenntnisse zu gewinnen als auch
wertvolle Ratschläge für zukünftige Festivalbewerbungen zu
unterbreiten.

[4.3] Richtlinien zur Anmeldung über www.shnit.org:
• Offizieller Anmeldeschluss: 1. Juni 2015.
• Alle erforderlichen Materialien und die Sichtungskopie müssen bis
spätestens 1. Juni 2015 eingereicht werden. (Es gilt der Poststempel
– die Pakete sollten allerdings spätestens am 6. Juni eintreffen).
• Als Sichtungskopie werden folgende Formate akzeptiert: DVD oder
BluRay, Hard Disk, USB-Stick oder im Formular eingetragenen Link
für Streaming oder Download (mit Passwort / Ablaufdatum nicht vor
Oktober 2015).
• Die Sichtungskopie ist gut sichtbar mit dem Filmtitel, der Laufzeit
und den Kontaktinformationen zu beschriften. Bitte KEINE
Filmabzüge, Master Tapes oder andere Originale einsenden.
• Alle Sendungen müssen mit der Aufschrift «NO COMMERCIAL VALUE

[5] BENACHRICHTIGUNG & AUSWAHL

• Eine unabhängige Auswahlkommission visioniert sämtliche

Festivaldirektion und professionellen Kuratoren. Die Mitglieder der
Auswahlkommission sind unabhängig in ihren Entscheidungen.
Einsendungen werden in erster Linie für die
Wettbewerbsprogramme berücksichtigt und können im Anschluss
zudem für entsprechende Spezialprogramme in Erwägung gezogen
werden. Der Selektions-entscheid der Auswahlkommission ist
endgültig.
Alle Einreichenden werden per E-Mail über die Resultate der
Auswahl informiert. Die Festivalleitung informiert spätestens
Anfang Juli über die Zusage und bis Mitte August 2015 über die
Absage.

• shnit International Shortfilmfestival ist ein transnationales

Filmfestival, das zeitgleich in acht Städten (PLAYGROUNDS) auf fünf
Kontinenten stattfindet. Alle Austragungsorte werden im August
2015 bekannt gegeben.
Die Festivaldaten: 7. bis 18. Oktober 2015 mit folgenden
Festivalsegmenten: shnit PLAYGROUNDS 7. – 11. Oktober | shnit
CINEMAS 7. – 18. Oktober | shnit FINALE 17. – 18. Oktober | shnit
EXPANDED 7. – 21. Oktober 2015.
Das Festival bietet Gästebetreuung und Kontaktdienste für
Branchen-vertreter und Filmschaffende an. (Siehe auch [10]
FESTIVALBESUCH).
Auszüge aus einzelnen Filmen (max. 3 Minuten oder höchstens 10%
der Gesamtlänge des Films) sowie Filmstills können am Festival, für
Medienarbeit (u.a. für Fernsehwerbung, Kinowerbung und OnlineMedien) oder zu Werbe- oder anderen nichtkommerziellen Zwecken
verwendet werden.
Kontaktinformationen zu allen ausgewählten Filmen werden auf der
Festivalwebseite und im Festivalkatalog publiziert.
Für Medienverantwortliche, Journalisten und offizielle
Jurymitglieder werden Visionierungskopien der ausgewählten Filme
hergestellt.
Eine Auswahl des Festivalprogramms 2015 kann ab August bis 7.
Oktober 2015 im Rahmen eines PREVIEW SCREENINGS gezeigt
werden. Die Filmemacher, deren Filme in einem PREVIEW
SCREENING zur Aufführung kommen, werden über Spielorte und daten informiert.
Im Festivalsegment shnit PLAYGROUNDS vom 7. bis 11. Oktober
2015 wird das gesamte Festivalprogramm dem Publikum erstmals
präsentiert.
Die Publikumsabstimmung der für den PLAYGROUNDS AWARD findet
während den Vorführungen des shnit PLAYGROUNDS statt.
Pro Preiskategorie werden je drei Filme nominiert, total 15 Filme
werden vom 12. bis 17. Oktober 2015 im Festivalsegment shnit
EXPANDED zu sehen sein. (Siehe auch [3] AUSZEICHNUNGEN &
PREISE).
Im Festivalsegments shnit EXPANDED wird ein «Onlinekino»
Vom 7. bis 18. Oktober 2015 präsentiert shnit als weiteren Teil des
Festivalsegments shnit CINEMAS eine Auswahl der nominierten
Filme in Vorführungen in Kinos und Kulturzentren rund um die Welt.
Die Publikumsabstimmung der für den CINEMAS AWARD findet
während den Vorführungen des shnit CINEMAS statt.
Im Rahmen der internationalen Preisverleihung im Festivalsegment
shnit FINALE in New York werden die 15 nominierten Filme des
internationalen Wettbewerbs shnit OPEN präsentiert.
Im Anschluss an shnit FINALE werden die fünf Gewinnerfilme
während drei Tagen (bis 21. Oktober 2015) passwortgeschützt online
zugänglich gemacht. Dieser Zugang ist nur gegen Entrichtung einer
Gebühr oder auf Einladung möglich.
Eine Filmauswahl des internationalen Wettbewerbs shnit OPEN 2015
kann im Anschluss ans Festival im Rahmen eines BEST OF shnit in
Vorführungen in Kinos und Kulturzentren in verschiedenen Städten
gezeigt werden. Die Filmemacher, deren Filme in einem BEST OF
shnit-Programm zur Aufführung kommen, werden über Spielorte und
-daten informiert.
Festival zu besuchen. Das Festival übernimmt Kosten für ihren
Aufenthalt (private Unterkunft, Filmemacher-Akkreditierung,
Gästeservice). Die Gästebetreuung und –organisation liegt in der
Verantwortung der Leiter der Festivalsegmente vor Ort (shnit
PLAYGROUNDS oder shnit FINALE), entsprechend den jeweiligen
Möglichkeiten.
Das Festival ist bemüht, möglichst vielen Filmschaffenden, die mit
ihrem Film am Festival 2015 teilnehmen, einen Festivalbesuch zu
ermöglichen. Gerne würde das Festival auch die Reiskosten
übernehmen. Das Festivalbudget ist knapp bemessen und daher
kann nur in Ausnahmefällen ein Teil der Reisekosten übernommen
werden. Das Festival ist bemüht, Unterstützung für Filmschaffende
von Botschaften und Konsulaten zu erhalten.
Sollte der Regisseur eines Films verhindert sein, das Festival zu
besuchen, kann die Einladung auf Personen des Produktionsteams
übertragen werden.
Die Regisseure werden persönlich über alle Einzelheiten zum
Festivalbesuch informiert.
[9] HAFTUNG
• Der Einsender des Films haftet für sämtliche Urheberrechte,

einschliesslich der Bild- und Tonrechte sowie weitere Rechte
Dritter. Mit der Einreichung bestätigt der Teilnehmer, im Besitz aller
Rechte zu sein, die es für die Vorführung seines Films im Rahmen
eines Filmfestivals braucht.
Der Einsender bestätigt bis 20. Juli 2015, eine hochauflösende
digitale Vorführkopie bereitstellen zu können.
Filme, einschliesslich des damit verbundenen Copyrights, bleiben
Eigentum des Einsenders.
Alle Einsendungen werden mit äusserster Sorgfalt behandelt. Für
Verlust oder Beschädigung der eingereichten Materialien kann
jedoch keine Haftung übernommen werden.
Für den Fall, dass Beiträge, Projektionen oder Informationen
unzutreffend oder fehlerhaft sind, haftet der Veranstalter nur bei
Nachweis grober Fahrlässigkeit.
Das Festival verpflichtet sich, keine Filme zu kommerziellen
Zwecken zu verwenden oder zu veräussern. Jede weitere
Verwendung wird mit dem Einsender abgesprochen. Als Non-ProfitOrganisation garantiert das Festival, die eingesandten Filme einzig
und allein für die kulturellen Ziele der shnit FOUNDATION zu nutzen.
Bei Verletzung der vorliegenden Teilnahmebedingungen kann der
Einsender disqualifiziert werden.
Der Einsender bestätigt, die vorliegenden Richtlinien gelesen zu
haben. Mit seiner Einreichung akzeptiert er die Teilnahmebedingungen.
Die vorliegenden Teilnahmebedingungen können ohne vorherige
Ankündigung jederzeit geändert werden.
* Für die Planungssicherheit des Festivals shnit International
Shortfilmfestival wird der Preisgeldbetrag des internationalen
Wettbewerbs shnit OPEN von 100‘000 US-Dollar (5 x 20‘000 US-Dollar)
an das Verhältnis der Währungsstärke des Schweizer Franken (CHF)
zu US-Dollar (US$) gekoppelt. Stichdatum ist der 15.01.2015. Der
exakte auszubezahlende Preisgeldbetrag wird zum Zeitpunkt der
Überweisung (d.h. am 9. November 2015 festgelegt). Die
Betragshöhe entspricht entweder 20‘000 US-Dollar oder (bei
Währungsschwäche des CHF) dem in US-Dollar umgerechneten
Betrag in Schweizer Franken gemäss dem Kurs vom 01.01.2015. Es
besteht seitens des Teilnehmers kein Rechtsanspruch auf das
Preisgeld.

El festival internacional de cortometrajes shnit es una organización
sin fines de lucro. El festival anual y sus secciones son creadas,
centralizadas y coordinadas por la shnit FUNDATION en cooperación
con los ejecutivos de los PLAYGROUND. La organización está
construida en principios de excelencia y profesionalismo,
permitiendo la expansión global del festival, esto requiere una activa
cooperación entre los ejecutivos de los PLAYGROUND quienes a
cambio fortalecen la red transnacional de <<realizadores de
cortometrajes>> y el crecimiento de la comunidad de <<amantes de
los cortometrajes>>. El festival ofrece un programa de alta calidad de
cortometrajes internacionales nuevos y establecidos.
shnit FOUNDATION (CH-036.7.053.240-1) es una fundación
internacional sin fines de lucro registrada con base en Suiza.
La selección final de todos los cortos presentados en el festival y su
colocación en el programa es responsabilidad del festival.
[2] ELEGIBILIDAD

La participación es abierta para todos.
El festival está abierto a cortometrajes de cualquier técnica de
producción, incluyendo animación, documentales, drama,
experimental o artístico y trabajos híbridos con el más alto o bajo
presupuesto.
Los cortometrajes deben de tener un tiempo de 40 minutos o menos,
incluyendo créditos (ver también [3] PREMIOS Y RECOMPENSAS).
El festival no requiere que el cortometraje se haya estrenado pero
esto podría tomarse en consideración en el proceso de selección. Los
cortometrajes deben de haber sido completados después del 1 de
junio 2015.
No se aceptarán los cortometrajes que hayan sido previamente
presentados al festival. Mientras el festival acepta trabajos en
proceso, los cortos serán sólo considerados para la programación
del año en que se inscribieron por primera vez.
Todos los cortometrajes en lengua no inglesa (o que no sean
dialectos del idioma inglés estándar) deben proporcionar subtítulos
en inglés.
Los trabajos presentados NO se podrán retirar del festival una vez
que se han incluido, excepto a discreción del festival.
Todos los cortometrajes son elegibles para la correspondiente
categoría dentro de la competencia internacional o nacional. En
consulta con el realizador del trabajo, el comité de selección se
reserva el derecho de ofrecer un lugar en los programas no
competitivos.

Los premios de la audiencia y del jurado no serán otorgados a un
mismo cortometraje.
El director tiene que asistir a la ceremonia de premiación el 17/18 de
octubre del 2015 en la Ciudad de Nueva York, con el fin de recibir el
premio en efectivo y la estatuilla
THE FLAMING FAUN. Todos los premios se entregarán
personalmente al director.
Sólo en casos excepcionales, se podrá poner un representante a
cargo ( con previo acuerdo con el festival).
Los ganadores deberán mencionar sus premios en futuras copias del
cortometraje ganador, así como en sus hojas de vida profesional,
páginas web y medios similares.

La primera mitad del dinero del premio se pagará por transferencia
bancaria en los 20 días siguientes a la recepción de todos los datos
bancarios necesarios. La segunda mitad del premio en efectivo se
abonará, a más tardar, el 31 de diciembre de 2015. Los gastos
bancarios (si procede) serán costeados por el destinatario del
premio.

competencias nacionales en el 2015: Berna - SWISS MADE, Bangkok
- MADE IN THAILAND, Buenos Aires - MADE IN ARGENTINA, Cape

[4] PROCEDIMIENTO DE ENTRADA Y SISTEMA
DE FEEDBACK

Existen dos categorías diferentes para inscribir su cortometraje:
shnit OPEN - PRO ENTRY (se paga cuota de inscripción, ver [4.1]) o
shnit OPEN - BASIC ENTRY (no se debe pagar cuota de inscripción.
ver [4.2]). El suscriptor puede escoger libremente la categoría en la
que quiere presentar su cortometraje. Ambas categorías de
suscripción califican para aplicar en la competencia internacional
shnit OPEN 2015 y todos los derechos asociados a los mismos.

www.shnit.org. Adicionalmente, shnit se ha asociado con portales
web para aceptar inscripciones digitales. Para las suscripciones en

Con shnit OPEN - PRO ENTRY el festival ofrece un sistema de
realimentación que es único en el ámbito de los festivales de cine. El
objetivo es dar a los realizadores una valiosa realimentación de su
trabajo para mejorar su potencial artístico para proyectos futuros y
para otras inscripciones del festival. Por lo general los festivales no
dan ninguna realimentación sustancial ni personal.

Hay una cuota de suscripción que se debe pagar para introducir los

Tan pronto como el suscriptor pague la cuota de inscripción, será

Después de la selección, un carta de notificación será enviada

Aquellos cortometrajes aceptados serán notificados en Julio y los
que no sean aceptados en Agosto 2015.
Los participantes no tienen derecho a reclamar una comisión por la

[6] ENVÍO DE COPIAS PARA PROYECCION

El festival informa a los participantes personalmente sobre la
manera de enviar las copias de los cortometrajes. Por favor no
presentar copias antes de recibir las instrucciones. Pedimos una
copia en archivo digital: formatos de cine o cinta de video no serán
recibidas.
Las copias deben ser presentadas antes del 20 de Julio de 2015.
El participante es responsable de los costos de envió de la screening
copy. El festival se encargará de los gastos para su devolución o
reenvío.
La sección del festival shnit EXPANDED albergará una “muestra
online” localizada en la web del festival que tendrá una contraseña
de protección online. El acceso será concedido únicamente
mediante el pago de una tarifa o por invitación. Durante seis días
todos los cortometrajes nominados de la competencia internacional
shnit OPEN 2015 serán presentados.

La sección del festival shnit CINEMAS también exhibirá los
cortometrajes nominados en cines selectos y centros culturales
alrededor del mundo.

Todos los votos del público por el CINEMA AWARD se llevarán acabo

La sección del festival shnit FINALE presenta los 15 cortometrajes

[7] shnit Festival

La versión 2015 del festival se lleva acabo en 8 ciudades
(Playgrounds) en cinco continentes: Todas las ciudades serán
anunciadas a mas tardar en Agosto 2015.
•
La fecha del festival es del 7 al 18 de octubre del 2015. Las fechas de
las diferentes secciones del festival son:

shnit CINEMAS 7 – 18 de Octubre.
•
shnit FINALE 17 – 18 Octubre.
La Información sobre los responsables de todos los trabajos
seleccionados para ser proyectados en la versión 2015 del festival
será publicada en el catalogo del festival y en la página web.
Los trabajos seleccionados para ser exhibidos en la versión 2015 del
festival, serán presentados con antelación a los medios de
comunicación y a los miembros del jurado oficial.
Previo al festival una selección de films del festival 2015 podrán ser
presentadas como un PREVIEW SCREENING. Los directores de los
films que serán presentados bajo esas circunstancias serán
informados acerca del lugar y fecha de la proyección.
En la sección del festival shnit PLAYGROUNDS del 7 al 11 de Octubre
de 2015 será proyectada por primera vez de manera pública la
programación del festival. El voto del público para el PLAYGROUNDS
AWARDS se realizará durante las proyecciones del shnit
PLAYGROUNDS.
Por cada categoría a premiar serán nominados tres cortometrajes.
Un total de 15 cortometrajes serán nominados.
El festival
presentará los cortometrajes nominados en la sección shnit
CINEMAS del 7 al 18 de Octubre 2015. (Ver también 15 3] PREMIOS Y
GALARDONES)

[5] NOTIFICACIÓN Y SELECCIÓN
•
shnit EXPANDED 7 – 21 Octubre 2015.
El festival recibe profesionales de la industria cinematográfica e
invitados, y ofrece invitaciones y servicios de encuentros. (Ver
también [10] VISITANDO EL FESTIVAL).
Partes de los cortometrajes (aproximadamente 3 minutos o el 10%
de la totalidad del metraje de la película) y los fotogramas podrán
ser usados por el festival, para la cobertura de los medios de
comunicación, ( incluidos pero no limitado a la transmisión
televisiva, trailers para cine, medios de comunicación online) y la
promoción del mismo, así como para un archivo propio y otros
propósitos no comerciales.
[8] VISITANDO EL FESTIVAL
•

Los directores de las películas seleccionadas están invitados a
visitar el festival y este puede hacerse cargo de los gastos de
estadía (acomodación, acreditación profesional). Todos los arreglos
de hospitalidad serán asignados por los directores de cada sección
del festival (shnit PLAYGROUNDS o shnit FINALE) y están limitados
dentro de los alcances de cada uno.
Al festival le agradaría poder arreglar para que el mayor número de
los directores de las películas seleccionadas para la versión 2015
del festival estén presentes. Lamentablemente, no podemos cubrir
•

los costos de viaje, ya que el festival tiene un
presupuesto
restringido para hacer esto posible. Por lo tanto, el festival no puede
cubrir los costos de viaje. El festival puede tratar de buscar apoyo de
las embajadas culturales locales. Con este apoyo, una parte de los
costos del viaje podría cubrirse de manera excepcional.
Si el director o el productor de la película no pueden ir al festival, la
invitación puede ser reenviada a otro miembro del equipo de
producción.

personalmente a aquellos que sean seleccionados para hacer parte
del evento.
[9] RESPONSABILIDAD

Aquel que inscriba la película es responsable por todos los derechos
de autor. Está autorizado legalmente para presentar su película al
festival y, si es seleccionada, autoriza para exhibir la película.
El solicitante ha garantizado todos los derechos de autor necesarios
de tanto imagen como sonido, y la exhibición no violará o infringirá
ningún derecho, incluido pero no limitado, a la música, las imágenes
y el contenido.
Si es seleccionado para participar en el festival el aspirante
reconoce y consiente a que un archivo digital con calidad para se
exhibido debe estar disponible para su proyección para el 20 de julio
de 2015.
La película, incluyendo todos los derechos de autor, son de
propiedad del autor.
La película será manipulada con sumo cuidado. Sin embargo, la
dirección del festival no asumirá responsabilidad alguna por daños o
pérdidas ocasionadas.

Si proyecciones o información son erróneos o defectuosos, los
organizadores solamente se harán responsables en caso de suma
negligencia.
•
El aspirante debe leer y aceptar las regulaciones y las instrucciones
para poder participar.
La falta de cumplimiento con estos términos y condiciones puede
resultar en la descalificación de la inscripción.
En el caso de algún desacuerdo concerniente a la interpretación de
los términos y condiciones, la interpretación del festival será la que
prime.

garantiza que las películas inscritas serán usadas solamente para
fomentar los objetivos culturales de la shnit FOUNDATION.

координируется фондом shnit FOUNDATION в содействии с
организаторами площадки . Организация строится на
принципах превосходства и профессионализма, что дает
фестивалю возможность глобального расширения и роста.
Для этого требуется активное сотрудничество между
организаторами площадок, что в свою очередь укрепляет
транснациональную сеть создателей короткометражны х
фильмов и любителей этого жанра. Фестиваль представляет
вы сококлассную программу из новы х и получивших
вы сокие оценки фильмов.
Фонд shnit FOUNDATION (CH-036.7.053.240-1) это
некоммерческая
зарегистрированная
организация ,
основанная в Швейцарии.
Режиссер должен присутствовать на церемонии 17/18
октября 2015 года в Нью Йорке, чтобы получить награду,
денежны й приз и статуэтку THE FLAMING FAUN. Все
награды будут вручены персонально режиссеру .
Исключительно (по согласованию с советом фестиваля)
призы
могут
бы ть
переданы
оф ициальному
представителю.
Победителям полагается указы вать свои награды на
копиях короткометражны х ф ильмов , вы игравших в
фестивале, также как и в своем резюме, на страницах в
интернете и в отраслевы х СМИ.
Первая часть денежного вознаграждения будет
перечислена банковским переводом в течение 20 дней с
момента получения реквизитов банка . Вторая часть
суммы будет вы плачена до 31 декабря 2015 года*.

[2] ПРАВА

Участие откры то для всех.

Для участия в фестивале принимаются фильмы всех жанров,
включая анимационны е, документальны е, драматические,
экспериментальны е или авторские и смешанны е жанры с
низким и вы соким бюджетами.
Метраж фильма должен составлять 40 минут и меньше,
включая титры (см. также [3] ПРИЗЫ И НАГРАДЫ)

отмечает, что это может бы ть учтено при отборе. Фильмы
должны бы ть завершены после 1 июня 2013.

• 8. ПОСЕЩЕНИЕ ФЕСТИВАЛЯ
•
Режиссеры отобранны х фильмов приглашаются в качестве
гостей на фестиваль, которы й может покры ть им расходы
на размещение. Все вопросы по приему и размещению
гостей разрешаются соответствующими менеджерами
частей фестиваля (shnit PLAYGROUNDS или shnit FINALE ) и
ограничены их зоной ответственности.
•
Фестиваль сделает все возможное, чтобы принять как можно
больше создателей фильмов, отобранны х для 2015 года.
Тем не менее , к сожалению , ввиду ограниченности
бюджетны х средств , ф естиваль не сможет покры ть
транспортны е расходы всем желающим .
В случае
поддержки местны х департаментов культуры посольств,
часть транспортны х расходов сможет бы ть покры та, в виде
исключения.
•
Если режиссер или продюсер не смогут посетить фестиваль,
приглашение будет перенаправлено другому участнику
съемочной группы .
•
Более детальная информация по услугам для гостей будет
направлена лично успешны м кандидатам
9. ОТВЕТСТВЕННОСТЬ
•
Отправитель заявки на участие несет ответственность за все
авторские права.
Он законно наделен правами послать
фильм на фестиваль и, в случае если он будет вы бран, дать
разрешение на его показ.
•
Участник подтверждает, что защитил все необходимы е
права как на изображение, так и на звук, и их демонстрация
не ущемит чьи-либо права, включая, но не ограничиваясь
только этим, на музы ку, визуальны е образы и содержание.
•
Будучи вы бранны м для участия в ф естивале кандидат
подтверждает и соглашается с тем , что демонстрация
фильма в качественном цифровом формате для показа на
большом экране должна бы ть возможна к 20 июля 2015.

фонда 100,000 USD (5x20,000USD) к денежному балансу
Швейцарского франка (CHF). Дата записи 1 января 2016
года. Точная сумма вы плачиваемого количества призовы х
денег будет определена в момент перевода (более точно 10
ноября 2015 года).
ПРИМЕЧАНИЕ: Это количество либо
