Since our foundation in 2005, we at Smart Tech have been operating businesses with
a focus on solar power generation and all-electric home.
In Japan,we are approaching a great turning point for energy, with the full liberalization
of the electricity retail market scheduled to begin in 2016. At Smart Tech, we have
started working on acquiring renewable energy from the rich natural environment of
Japan, including wind power, hydraulic power, and biomass power as well as solar
power.
We aim to build smart cities with the green energy we create. We will contribute to
sustainable development by realizing regional economic circulation and creating new

The size of the electricity market of Japan, which has thus far been monopolized
by general electricity utilities (major electric power companies), is about 15 trillion
yen. The share of power producers and suppliers in this market is only 4%. At
Smart Tech, we will take the electricity liberalization planned for 2016 as an

Smart Wind ‒ a wind power generation system
that is suited to the natural environment of Japan.
Hydraulic and biomass power generation that expands
the possibilities of our rich natural world.
Smart Wind applies the upwind system featuring high directivity. The wind turbine rudder responds
quickly to changes in wind direction. It starts to generate power at low wind speed and generates
power most eﬃciently at the rated wind speed of 9 m/s. When the wind speed reaches the cutout
speed, Smart Wind automatically stops the blades from rotating by activating electronic controls
and mechanical brakes. The wind turbines operate very quietly and do not cause radio disturbance.
Small-scale hydropower generation makes use of the power of water falling or ﬂowing in existing
water channels, such as water supply and sewerage facilities and agricultural waterways. In
biomass power generation, wood chips and combustible garbage are combusted, and the heat
generated in the process is used to rotate turbines, which generates power. At Smart Tech, we
work on these types of power generation as well, aiming to spread renewable energy further.

In April 2015, we will open Mizu Tech, a
specialty store for house renovation with a
focus on kitchen and bathroom products, at
AEON MALL Hanyu in Hanyu-shi, Saitama.
Smart Tech is an oﬃcial sponsor of Mito
HollyHock, a professional soccer team playing
in the J. League and based in Mito, the city
where we are headquartered in.
Smart Tech has concluded a joint business agreement
with the city government of Mito. Under this
agreement, we use roofs of the government’s facilities
and balancing reservoirs for solar power generation.
