Call for Papers
He who knows himself and others well
no longer may ignore:
Orient, Occident can dwell
separately no more.
(J. W. von Goethe, author of the West-Eastern Divan,
in his literary estate)
It is our great pleasure to invite you to the upcoming
Congress on Transcultural Psychosomatics, Psychiatry
and Psychotherapy. This is the first time that this
congress will be held in a university environment, and we
do not only expect internationally renowned and
German experts of transcultural aspects in the field of
psychosomatics, but we are proud to welcome a large
group of representatives of Oriental countries, especially
from Iran. This congress has a history of several
initiatives, mainly steered by Prof. Dr. Said Moshref
Dehkordy and others actively supporting the RAZI
International Society which aims to bring experts from
Orient and Occident together for scientific and clinical
exchange.
The congress is dedicated to Muhammad ibn Zakariya alRazi, a famous medical doctor in the 9th century (born
864, died 925). He was one of the first to consider
psychological aspects of medicine in his books, and he
expressed the opinion that every physician needs
substantial expertise in psychology. His knowledge was
based on experiments that he designed himself. Who but
he himself could be a better representative of the
message that we want to transport with our congress.
Most parts of the congress will take place at the
University of Marburg, one of the oldest German
universities. Marburg has a marvelous old city, and its
history goes back to the days when Dr. Razi worked in
the Orient.
Please feel welcome to attend this conference and to
visit the wonderful city of Marburg. We encourage you to
submit abstracts of your scientific work to be presented
during the congress.
