• Due to refurbishment there are hardly any places available at student
residence halls until April 2015
• You may apply online and hope for people dropping out – It is advisable
though, to look for private accommodation

BEWOS DORM (former Bauhaus Gästehaus)
• a dorm in the south of Dessau.
• All the rooms come with furniture.
• It is rented by an organization called BEWOS - http://www.bewos.de
DWG
• DWG is the biggest renting company in Dessau.
• price for the apartments does not include utilities for heating, electricity and
water.
• Before signing something please check the contract carefully (because all
the contracts are in German) and have some look at it and check things
with you: Contact Yili Lu (campus coordinator international students)
• usually apartments come without furniture, but this you can sometimes get
from leaving students or just ask for it on facebook.

Health Insurance
(Krankenversicherung)
Every student enrolling at Anhalt University is required acc. to German law
(Sozialgesetzbuch) to take out a statutory health insurance (Gesetzliche
Krankenversicherung).
The insurance will cost about EUR 85.00 / month.
This does not apply if
• you are 30 years of age or older ( → take out private health insurance / higher insurance rate with statutory insurer)
• you are an EU students → you can prove your home insurance
(EHIC card) + plus proof of your current insurance status
• you have a private insurance and can provide an exemption
certificate (Befreiungsbescheinigung von der gesetzlichen
Krankenversicherungspflicht) issued by a German statutory health
insurer

Step 1: Paying semester contribution (Semesterbeitrag)
After Admission (Zulassung) + you need your applicant number (Bewerbernummer)
Payment of the Semesterbeitrag is compulsory for all students upon enrolment at Anhalt
University. This fee is EUR 66.00 / semester

Public TV and radio licensing fee (Rundfunkbeitrag)
International students living in their own flats, in shared flats (Wohngemeinschaft /
WG) or student residence halls may need pay a contribution towards using the
provisions of German public TV and radio broadcasters
This fee is deducted per household. If you share bathroom and kitchen in your
student residence or you share a flat with others, every individual in this unit needs
to pay a part of this contribution. One of you will receive the invoice and is
responsible for paying the fee.

Your student ID card holds your personal data and also shows its validity for the
current term. The additional ‘S’ stamped above the current term indicates that
you have paid the Student Union fee of € 6.00.

semester (by having paid in the semester contribution) you may re-validate your
student ID card for the current/next term.
