Contact: Ms Berger ph. +49 3496 67-6425 Ms Schillinger ph. +49 3496 67-6424 [email protected] Online application : http://tl1host.de/SWHAL/ (deadline winter semester: 31 August) • Due to refurbishment there are hardly any places available at student residence halls until April 2015 • You may apply online and hope for people dropping out – It is advisable though, to look for private accommodation 14 1 Accommodation: private accommodation BEWOS DORM (former Bauhaus Gästehaus) • a dorm in the south of Dessau. • All the rooms come with furniture. • It is rented by an organization called BEWOS - http://www.bewos.de DWG • DWG is the biggest renting company in Dessau. • price for the apartments does not include utilities for heating, electricity and water. • Before signing something please check the contract carefully (because all the contracts are in German) and have some look at it and check things with you: Contact Yili Lu (campus coordinator international students) • usually apartments come without furniture, but this you can sometimes get from leaving students or just ask for it on facebook. http://www.dwg-wohnen.de 8 15 1 Accommodation: private accommodation WWW.WG-GESUCHT.DE • On this website, you have the opportunity to look for flat shares. • In Germany it is really common for students to share apartments. • Some come with furniture but for details you should ask future room mates. • It is a good opportunity to meet new people and really nice to have company. http://www.wg-gesucht.de 16 Important Registrations 2 Health Insurance (Krankenversicherung) Every student enrolling at Anhalt University is required acc. to German law (Sozialgesetzbuch) to take out a statutory health insurance (Gesetzliche Krankenversicherung). The insurance will cost about EUR 85.00 / month.
