through design. As a result, the German Design Council
is one of the world’s leading competence centres for
communication and brand management in the field of

Wettbewerbsverfahren
Competition
procedure
Am Wettbewerb können ausschließlich Beiträge teilnehmen, die
durch den Rat für Formgebung, eines seiner Stiftungsmitglieder oder
eines der Wirtschaftsministerien der deutschen Bundesländer für
den German Design Award nominiert wurden. Es werden nur Einreichungen zugelassen, deren Veröffentlichung bzw. Markteinführung
nicht länger als fünf Jahre zurückliegt. Konzepte sind ebenfalls zum
Wettbewerb zugelassen. Es besteht die Möglichkeit, eine Arbeit in
mehreren Kategorien zum Wettbewerb einzureichen. Die Jury kürt pro
Kategorie jeweils einen Gold-Preisträger und vergibt bis zu fünfzehn
Winner-Auszeichnungen. Darüber hinaus werden Special MentionAuszeichnungen für besondere Designqualität vergeben.
The competition is only open to entries that have been nominated
for the German Design Award by the German Design Council, one of its
foundation members, or a German state’s economics ministry. Only
those entries that were either launched on the market or released no
longer than five years ago will be admitted to the competition. Concepts are also eligible as entries. Please note it is possible to register
one individual product for several competition categories. The jury
will select a Gold winner and awards up to fifteen Winner distinctions
in each category. In addition, Special Mention distinctions will be
bestowed for exceptional design quality.

die Jury frei. Der Jury werden alle form- und fristgemäß
eingereichten Beiträge zur Begutachtung vorgelegt.
Die beteiligten Unternehmen erhalten über die Ergebnisse der Jurierung eine schriftliche Benachrichtigung.
Der Rechtsweg ist ausgeschlossen.

in writing about their nomination and the opportunity to partake in the competition. Upon nomination
participants will receive their own personal login and

A great award deserves a worthy occasion. Therefore,
the German Design Council will bestow the German Design Award within the context of Ambiente 2016. With
more than 1,200 participants from the fields of politics,
industry, design and press, the award ceremony is one
of the most significant design events of the year and is

Der Rat für Formgebung bietet allen deutschen Kleinunternehmen und Start-ups die Möglichkeit, sich
durch einen Förderantrag von den Servicegebühren für
Gewinner für die Auszeichnungen Gold, Winner und
Special Mention zum Katalog, der Galerie und App sowie der Ausstellung befreien zu lassen.
Die Freistellung erfolgt nach eingehender Prüfung der
wirtschaftlichen Verhältnisse. Voraussetzung ist, dass
der Jahresumsatz in den letzten beiden Jahren jeweils
nicht mehr als € 50.000,00 betrug. Der Antrag muss bis
zum 19. Juni 2015 gestellt werden (Eingang beim Rat
für Formgebung). Das Antragsformular ist beim Rat für
Formgebung erhältlich.
The German Design Council offers all German small
businesses and start-ups the opportunity to submit a
grant proposal for exemption from the service fees for
winners that may arise from the Gold, Winner and
Special Mention awards in connection with the catalogue, the gallery and app as well as the exhibition.
Exemption shall only take effect following close examination of the financial circumstances. The prerequisite
is that the company’s annual turnover did not exceed
more than € 50,000.00 during the past two years. The
proposal must be submitted by 19 June 2015 (received
by the German Design Council). The proposal form is
obtainable from the German Design Council.

Erstmalig verleiht der Rat für Formgebung einen Ehrenpreis für sozial engagierte und gemeinnützige Einrichtungen. Das Augenmerk liegt gleichwohl auf einem
außerordentlichen Engagement sowie der herausragenden Arbeit an Sonderprojekten. Angesprochen
werden hierbei verschiedenste Non-Profit-Organisationen aus den Bereichen soziale Arbeit (Behindertenwerkstätten u. a.), Umwelt- und Naturschutz (Greenpeace u. a.) sowie kulturelle Arbeit (Denkmalschutz
u. a.).
For the first time, the German Design Council will
award an honorary prize in recognition of socially committed and non-profit organisations. The focus is on
an extraordinary commitment as well as outstanding
work on special projects. This will address a wide
variety of non-profit organisations from the fields of
social work (e. g. workshops for the disabled), environmental protection and nature conservation (e. g.
Greenpeace) as well as cultural work (e. g. monument
protection).

Die Einreichungen können in digitaler Form, im Original oder als Präsentations-Charts im Format DIN A2 /
quer auf Leichtschaumpappe (max. 4 Stück) der Jury
präsentiert werden. Alles muss in englischer Sprache
verfasst sein. Alle Einreichungen sind in einer transportsicheren und wiederverwendbaren Verpackung
anzuliefern und müssen deutlich mit der erhaltenen
Produkt-ID gekennzeichnet sein. Die Kosten für den
An- und Abtransport sowie die Versicherung der angemeldeten Erzeugnisse obliegen den Teilnehmern.
Produkte der Größe S können innerhalb der EU auf
Wunsch nach der Jurysitzung kostenpflichtig an den
Anmelder versendet werden.

Entries may be presented to the jury in the digital form,
original form or as presentation charts in the A2
horizontal format on foam board (max. 4 pieces). A description should be enclosed with the original product.
Everything must be written in English. All entries shall
be delivered in secure and reusable packaging that
ensures safe arrival. Furthermore, packaging must be
clearly labelled with the received product ID. The
participants are responsible for the transport costs to
and from as well as the insurance costs for registered
products. Size S products originating from within the
EU can, upon request, be sent back to the applicant
following the judging session. Please note this service
is subject to additional fees.
