Der gewaltige Bedarf an zusätzlichem Wohnraum ist eine Chance für
eine neue Ära des Wohnungsbaus. Die Ausstellung URBAN LIVING
präsentiert Ideen und Best-Practice-Beispiele für neue bezahlbare
Wohntypologien, lebendige Nachbarschaften und eine nachhaltige
Stadtentwicklung. Sie zeigt Strategien, die das urbane Leben und
die Eigenheiten des Ortes stärken. Vorgestellt werden Projekte
aus dem internationalen URBAN LIVING-Workshopverfahren und
aus der Publikation SELF-MADE CITY. Die Ausstellung ist eine
interaktive Landschaft, in der die Besucher ihre eigenen Ideen und
Wohnwünsche bei den Veranstaltungen und in einem Blog mitteilen
können. Zur Eröffnung sprechen: Kai Koch, Vizepräsident BDA,
Regula Lüscher, Senatsbaudirektorin Berlin, KRistien Ring, Kuratorin und
Matthias Böttger, Künstlerischer Leiter DAZ.
Kuratiert von Kristien Ring, AA PROJECTS, in Kooperation mit der
Senatsverwaltung für Stadtentwicklung und Umwelt, Berlin.

preiswerter? Welche Standards werden gebraucht, was ist verzichtbar?
Lieber bezugsfertig oder Selbstausbau? Wie helfen Grundrisse und
Erschließung?
Es diskutieren: Vertreter der Berliner Wohnungsbaugesellschaften mit
Architekten aus dem URBAN LIVING-Workshop sowie gebauter SELFMADE CITY-Projekte.
Vom 11. bis 28. Juni 2015 findet in Berlin MAKE CITY – Das Festival für
Architektur und Andersmachen statt. Neue Strategien in der Architektur
werden mit partizipatorischen und zivilgesellschaftlichen Ansätzen
kombiniert.
With the URBAN LIVING exhibition, the DAZ is an official “festival hub”
of the MAKE CITY Festival with its key theme “Re-Sourcing the Urban“.
In an expert workshop SELF-MADE CITY: Mechanisms of alternative urban
development, Kristien Ring, AA PROJECTS, will be in dialogue with local
and international guests, discussing how new processes in architectural production can contribute to a sustainable urban development
and which policy adjustments enable new typologies and hybrid
programs. The workshop is an international look at the synergies
between self-initiated development and urban planning policy.

#2: Wie wollen wir wohnen? – Haben gemeinschaftlich genutzte Räume
wieder eine Zukunft? Wie sehen Wohnungsunternehmen neue Wohnformen? Was haben Wohnungskonzepte mit neuer Mobilität zu tun?
Es diskutieren: Vertreter der Berliner Wohnungsbaugesellschaften mit
Architekten aus dem URBAN LIVING-Workshop sowie gebauter SELFMADE CITY-Projekte.
Mit der Ausstellung URBAN LIVING ist das DAZ ein „Festival Hub” des
Festivals MAKE CITY zum Thema „Ressourcen neu aufgelegt”. In einem
Expertengespräch SELF-MADE CITY: Mechanismen alternativer Stadtentwicklung
tritt Kristien Ring, AA PROJECTS, in einen Dialog mit lokalen und
internationalen Gästen. Wie können neue Prozesse zu einer nachhaltigen
Stadtentwicklung beitragen? Welche Modelle ermöglichen neue
Typologien und fördern eine Mischung? Welche Veränderungen sind
notwendig? SELF-MADE CITY wirft einen internationalen Blick auf die
Synergien von selbstinitiiertem Bauen und neuer Stadtplanungspolitik.

have a new future? What new solutions are feasible for housing
associations? What role can new mobility concepts play?
A discussion with Berlin housing associations and architects of the
URBAN LIVING workshop as well as SELF-MADE CITY projects.
#1: Affordable Living? – Which strategies enable affordable living? What
are acceptable minimal standards and what can we do without? Rather
self-build or a fully finished flat? How can new floor plan and circulation
configurations help?
A discussion with Berlin housing associations and architects from the
URBAN LIVING workshop as well as SELF-MADE CITY projects.
MAKE CITY - A Festival for Architecture and Urban Alternatives will take place
from June 11 – 28, 2015. MAKE CITY is about discovering and optimizing
our urban resources.

The massive need for living space in many big cities today is a chance
to forge a new era of housing by creating new qualities. The URBAN
LIVING exhibition presents ideas and best practice examples for new,
affordable living typologies, vibrant neighborhoods and a resilient
urban development. The exhibition shows strategies that improve urban
life while strengthening specific characteristics of individual neighborhoods. Projects from the international URBAN LIVING workshop and
from the SELF-MADE CITY publication are presented. The exhibition is
an interactive urban landscape. Along with accompanying events and a
blog it offers visitors various possibilities to develop and share ideas and
desires concerning living. Opening Speakers: Kai Koch, Vice President BDA,
Regula Lüscher, Senate Building Director Berlin, Kristien Ring, Curator and
Matthias Böttger, Artistic Director DAZ.
