The beaches of the Bay of Alcúdia have official
certificates that bear witness to their commitment
to quality and respect for the environment.
Las playas de la Bahía de Alcúdia cuentan con
certificados oficiales que dan fe de su apuesta
por la calidad y respeto al medio ambiente.

O
ne of the characteristics of
the northern part of the
island is the variety of its
beaches. They range from
seemingly endless stretches of sand like
Playa de Muro, to the beach of Puerto
de Alcúdia, Son Serra de Marina, Can
Picafort or Son Bauló, rugged, pebbly
beaches like those of Alcanada and
S’Illot, peace and quiet at Es Comú de
Muro and the beach of Sant Pere in Es
Mal Pas. In short, kilometres of coastline on which to enjoy one’s holidays.
As well as nature in all its splendour,
these beaches have lifesaving and security services, seaside resort facilities
where you can have something to eat
or drink, sunbeds and sunshades, public toilets, massage areas, pedaloes,
windsurf boards, water sports schools,
floating children’s playgrounds, ...
Nearly all of these beaches have a Blue
Flag, an emblem that acknowledges
the quality of their water and sand, the
excellence of their rescue, lifesaving
and first aid services, the signposting
and information panels, attention for
the disabled and the removal of architectural barriers, amongst other aspects.
In the case of Es Comú de Muro, as well
as the Blue Flag, the beach has been
awarded the Blue Trail distinction.
Playa de Muro has had ISO 14001 certification since 2010. This environmental standard guarantees its commitment to the
environment and, in the case of this beach,
it also includes the water police (UPAM).
All of Alcúdia’s beaches have the ISO
14001 certification, too, as well as another certificate, ISO 9001, which adds
quality to environmental management
in the rental of sunbeds and sunshades,
the range of nautical activities on offer,
the beach resort facilities and cleaning.
Playa de Muro, moreover, has the
EMAS certificate, an acknowledgement that reinforces the value awarded in environmental management
issues even further. Both Alcúdia and
Playa de Muro have been awarded the
Eco beaches emblem for the conservation of their dune ecosystems and
other environmental aspects. Playa de
Muro, Playa de Alcúdia and Playa de
la Alcanada also have this certificate
for having installed ecological beacon
buoys using the “manta ray” system, in
order to guarantee the survival of the
protected posidonia meadows and use
an effective beaconing system.

la zona norte de la isla es
la variedad de sus playas.
Desde kilométricos are-
nales como Playa de Muro, la playa
del Puerto de Alcúdia, Son Serra de
Marina, Can Picafort o Son Bauló,
agrestes playas de canto rodado
como las de Alcanada o S’Illot, tranquilidad en Es Comú de Muro o la
playa de Sant Pere en Es Mal Pas. En
definitiva, kilómetros de costa para
el disfrute de las vacaciones. Además
de naturaleza en todo su esplendor,
estas playas disponen de servicios de
salvamento y seguridad, balnearios
para comer o tomar algo, hamacas y
sombrillas, baños públicos, zonas de
masaje, velomares, tablas de windsurf, escuelas de deportes acuáticos,
parques infantiles flotantes, ...
Casi todas estas playas cuentan con la
Bandera Azul, distintivo que reconoce
la calidad del agua y de la arena, la
excelencia de servicios de salvamento, socorrismo y primeros auxilios, la
señalización y paneles informativos,
la atención a personas con discapacidad y la ruptura de barreras arquitectónicas, entre otros aspectos. En el
caso de Es Comú de Muro, además de
la Bandera Azul, se le ha otorgado el
reconocimiento de Sendero Azul.
Playa de Muro cuenta con el reconocimiento ISO 14001 desde 2010. Esta
norma medioambiental garantiza su
compromiso con el medio ambiente
y, en el caso de esta playa, engloba
también a la policía acuática (UPAM).
Todas las playas de Alcúdia también
disponen del certificado ISO 14001
y le suma otro reconocimiento, ISO
9001, que añade la calidad a la gestión
medioambiental en el alquiler de hamacas y sombrillas, la oferta de actividad
náutica, los balnearios o la limpieza.
Playa de Muro cuenta además con el
certificado EMAS, un reconocimiento que refuerza aun más el valor
otorgado en cuestión de gestión
medioambiental. Tanto Alcúdia como
Playa de Muro han sido galardona-

das con el distintivo Ecoplayas por
la conservación de los ecosistemas
dunares y otros aspectos medioambientales. Playa de Muro, Playa de
Alcúdia y la Playa de la Alcanada
también cuentan con esta certificación por haber instalado boyas de
balizamiento ecológicas con sistema “manta ray”, para garantizar
la supervivencia de las praderas de
posidonia protegidas y contar con un
sistema de balizamiento eficaz.

über Verleih von Tretbooten und
Surfbrettern. Darüber hinaus gibt
es schwimmende Kinderspielplätze, Wassersport-Schulen und eine
Vielzahl an Strandbars.
Fast alle Strände wurden mit der
Blauen Fahne ausgezeichnet, mit
der Wasser- und Sandqualität sowie
Rettungsschwimmerservice und Erste
Hilfe, Ausschilderung mit Info-Tafeln,
Service für behinderte Menschen
und barrierefreie Zugänge zertifiziert werden. Der Strand Es Comú de
Muro wurde außer der Blauen Fahne
mit dem Gütesiegel Sendero Azul geehrt, das der Verein für Umwelt- und
Verbraucherbildung vergibt.
Der Playa de Muro erfüllt seit 2010
den Qualitätsstandard ISO 14001
für die Einhaltung der Umweltvorschriften und vorbildliches
Umweltmanagement. An diesem
Strand operiert eine Einheit der
Wasserschutzpolizei UPAM.
Sämtliche Strände in Alcúdia haben
die Gütesiegel ISO 14001 und ISO
9001. Letzteres bürgt nicht nur für
Qualität, sondern auch für Umweltmanagement beim Verleih von
Sonnenliegen und Schirmen, das
Angebot an Wassersport-Aktivitäten,
die Ausstattung der Strandbars und
die Sauberhaltung der Strände.
Der Playa de Muro wurde für beispielhaftes Umweltengagement von
der Europäischen Union mit dem
renommierten Gütesiegel EMAS geehrt. Alcúdia und Playa de Muro erhielten, unter anderem, für Umweltschutz und die Erhaltung der Dünen
als Ökosystem die Ehrung Ecoplayas.
Die Strände Playa de Muro, Playa
de Alcúdia und Playa de la Alcanada
bekamen die begehrte Auszeichnung auch wegen der umweltfreundlichen “Manta Ray” Bojen zur
Begrenzung des Fahrwassers, die
das Überleben der Posidonia-Wiesen
sichern, sowie wegen der effektiven
Markierung der Bojen.

ecosystems for more than
100,000 years.

s Comú de Muro is a dune
system corresponding to
an environmental protection area comprised of
pine groves that go from Can Picafort to Camí de Ses Puntes, on what
is an ecosystem trail shaped around
dry land, torrent beds, the sea and
the beach. As a result the level of
biodiversity here is extremely high,
and there are many interesting species to be found in each individual
zone. In the area bordering with the
sea, there is a predominance of remains of seaweed as well as sea holly, European searocket or Audouin’s
gulls. After the second or third dune,
we find forests of juniper bushes,
the endemic plant endémica peu de
milà, beetles and orchids, amongst
other species. In the more mature
pine grove, endemic species such as
cuckoo bees, wild mushrooms, bats,
European fan palms or forest birds
like the owl or the common wood
pigeon can be seen.
Within the same dune system, several routes have been marked out
which enable one to walk through
the whole area parallel to the sea,
keeping to the cordoned paths, and
gain access to the beach via wooden walkways that offer a spectacular panoramic view.
This dune space suffered a continuous impact for years, until
it was classified as a part of the
S’Albufera Natural Park in 1988.
Since then different regulations
have been passed to protect and
regenerate Es Comú de Muro.
The Park’s educational programme
develops different activities in this
dune ecosystem. The educational
centres raise awareness on and explain the ecological and socio-cultural importance of dune ecosystems
through different projects. Environmental volunteers are also present in
Es Comú de Muro, performing forest
repopulation activities.
Free guided tours are organised regularly for the general public. These
actions make the area known to people and generate awareness of the
need to protect what is an extremely
rich natural area of the island.

de protección medioambiental formada por pinares que van
desde Can Picafort hasta el Camí
de Ses Puntes, en un recorrido de
ecosistemas entorno a tierra firme,
torrentes, el mar y la playa. La biodiversidad es, por tanto, muy elevada
y existen muchas especies interesantes en cada una de las zonas. En la
frontera con el mar predominan los
restos de alga, el cardo marino, el
rábano de mar o la gaviota corsa. Tras la segunda o tercera duna
hay bosques de enebro, la planta
endémica peu de milà, escarabajos y
orquídeas, entre otras especies. En el
pinar más adulto, se encuentran las
endémicas abejas rojas, setas, murciélagos, palmito, o pájaros forestales como el búho o el tudó.
Dentro del sistema dunar hay identificadas varias rutas que, mediante
caminos acordonados, permiten
recorrerlo en toda su extensión de
forma paralela al mar, así como
acceder hasta la playa por pasarelas

de madera que ofrecen una vista
panorámica espectacular.
El espacio dunar sufrió un impacto continuo durante años, hasta
que fue considerado como parte
integrante del Parque Natural de
s’Albufera en 1988. Desde entonces se han ido regulando diferentes normativas para proteger y
regenerar Es Comú de Muro.
El programa educativo del Parque
desarrolla diferentes actividades en
este ecosistema dunar. Los centros
educativos sensibilizan y explican
mediante proyectos la importancia
ecológica y sociocultural de los ecosistemas dunares. El voluntariado
ambiental también está presente
en Es Comú de Muro con actividades de repoblación forestal.
Para el público en general se organizan periódicamente visitas
guiadas gratuitas. Estas acciones
dan a conocer la zona y generan
conciencia sobre la necesidad de
proteger este espacio natural
tan rico de la isla.
Es Comú de Muro cuenta con el
distintivo de “sendero azul”.

Muro gehören zum Naturschutzgebiet der Pinienhaine, das von Can Picafort bis
zum Camí de Ses Puntes über festen
Boden, Sturzbäche und am Meer
entlang führt. Dank der verschiedenen Ökosysteme ist die Artenvielfalt
hier sehr hoch, in jedem der Bereiche
kann man interessante Flora und Fauna entdecken. Am Meeresufer finden
sich Algenreste, Mariendisteln, Meersenf und Korallenmöwen. Hinter der
zweiten oder dritten Düne wachsen
Wacholdersträuche, die autochtone
Pflanze peu de milà und Orchideen
– die Heimat vieler Käfer. Im ältesten
Pinienhain leben, neben Pilzen und
Zwergpalmen, die endemischen Harzbienen, Fledermäuse und Waldvögel,
wie Uhu und Ringeltaube.
Parallel zum Meer kann man in den
Dünen wandern; die verschiedenen
Routen sind mit Seilen markiert.

Vom Strand führen Holzstege zu den
Dünen. Von hier aus bietet sich ein
phantastischer Panoramablick.
Die Dünen waren vielen Umweltbelastungen ausgesetzt, bis sie 1988 als
Teil des Naturparks s’Albufera deklariert wurden. Seitdem steht Es Comú
de Muro unter Schutz, damit sich die
Landschaft regeneriert.
In den Dünen des Naturparks finden
verschiedene Aktivitäten statt. Mit
Bildungsprojekten sensibilisieren
Schulen das Bewusstsein für die
ökologische und soziokulturelle
Bedeutung der Dünen. Freiwillige
Umwelthelfer forsten die Flora im Es
Comú de Muro wieder auf.
Für die Allgemeinheit werden von
Zeit zu Zeit kostenlose Führungen
veranstaltet. Ziel ist es, Einheimischen wie Touristen die Natur näher
zu bringen und das Bewusstsein führ
ihren Schutz zu schärfen.
Es Comú de Muro wurde mit dem
“Sendero Azul” geehrt, den der
Verein für Umwelt- und Verbraucherbildung vergibt.

The Bay of Alcúdia guarantees the safety of
bathers, and makes days of sunshine on the beach
easier for those who have some kind of disability.
La Bahía de Alcúdia garantiza la seguridad de
sus bañistas, y facilita los días de sol y playa a las
personas con algún tipo de discapacidad.
In der Bucht von Alcúdia ist die Sicherheit der
Badegäste garantiert. Auch behinderte Menschen
können unbeschwerte Strandtage genießen.

are there to be enjoyed
by all, and naturally
this includes people with reduced
mobility, the disabled, the elderly or
the sightless, who will find Accessibility Points on the beaches in Alcúdia, Playa de Muro and Can Picafort
so that they can experience unforgettable days. Qualified personnel
are on hand so that every user who
requires assistance is attended to
at all times, with the sensitivity and
professionalism they deserve. These
workers have, for example, knowledge of sign language or expertise
in the use of amphibious chairs for
persons with special needs.
Walkers, floating aids, crutches or
life jackets are provided for bathing. To be able to enjoy these services, all you have to do is request
them in advance. The Accessibility
Points also have special infrastructures like shaded areas, foot baths
and special showers, beach access
gangways, public and adapted
bathrooms, and guidelines for
the blind. In addition there is an
identification service for people using bracelets for children or people
with reduced mental capacity.
In these areas, the Rescue Service
is more extensive too, in order to
guarantee the safety of all bathers.

por supuesto también para
personas con movilidad reducida,
discapacitados, mayores o invidentes, que en Alcúdia, Playa de Muro y
Can Picafort encuentran Puntos de
Accesibilidad en sus playas para vivir
jornadas inolvidables. Existe personal
cualificado para que cada usuario
que lo necesite esté atendido en
todo momento con la sensibilidad y
profesionalidad que merece. Estos
trabajadores tienen, por ejemplo,
conocimientos en lenguaje de signos
o uso de sillas anfibias para personas
con necesidades especiales.
A la hora del baño se facilitan caminadores, elementos para flotar, muletas o chalecos salvavidas. Para poder
disfrutar de estos servicios solamente
hay que hacer una solicitud previa.
Los Puntos de Accesibilidad también
cuentan con infraestructuras como
áreas de sombreado, lava pies y duchas especiales, pasarelas de acceso
a la playa, baños públicos y adaptados, y líneas de guía para invidentes.
También existe un servicio de identificación de personas mediante pulseras
para niños o personas con facultades
mentales reducidas.
En estas zonas, el dispositivo del
Servicio de Salvamento es también
más amplio, para poder garantizar la
seguridad de cualquier bañista.

gibt es in Alcúdia, Playa de Muro
und Can Picafort verschiedene Anlaufpunkte, an denen sich geschultes Fachpersonal professionell und
mit der notwendigen Sachkenntnis um jeden Badegast kümmert.
Übersetzer für Gebärdensprache
stehen ebenso zur Verfügung wie
Experten, die mit dem Umgang mit
Wasserrollstühlen vertraut sind. Für
ein erfrischendes Bad in den Wellen
stehen Rollatoren, Schwimmflossen, Krücken und Rettungswesten
bereit. Wer den Behindertenservice in Anspruch nehmen möchte,
muss dies vorher beantragen. Die
Anlaufpunkte sind außerdem mit
Schattenbereichen, Fuß- und behindertengerechten Duschen, Stegen
mit Strandzugang, öffentlichen
Behinderten-Toiletten und Leitstreifen für Blinde und Sehbehinderte
ausgestattet. Darüber hinaus gibt es
eine Art Erkennungsservice mit Armbändern, den Kinder oder geistig
Behinderte nutzen können.
In den Strandabschnitten rund um die
Anlaufpunkte ist auch der Rettungsschwimmer-Service präsenter. Damit
alle Urlauber ein unbeschwertes
Badevergnügen genießen können.

he Serra de Tramuntana
mountain range is a UNESCO World Heritage site
in the Cultural Landscape
category, in recognition of this
monumental human work where
culture, traditions, aesthetics, spirituality and identity are combined.
ANDRATX is the largest municipality
in the south-west of Mallorca. Near
it are some beaches that are busy in
summer, like Sant Telm, as well as
other, smaller coves where you can
find some peace and quiet. The port
boasts prestigious fish and seafood
restaurants. And it also has one of the
best contemporary art centres on the
island, the Centre Cultural Andratx.
The small town of ESTELLENCS, with
its characteristic stone houses, brings
us closer to Puig Galatzó and its
natural park. On the other side of
this mountain lie GALILEA, where you
simply must stop off for a good pa
amb oli, and PUIGPUNYENT.
In BANYALBUFAR, the terraced vineyards make up the picture-postcard
image of this village which slopes
down to the sea. A path links Banyalbufar to Port des Canonge, an
easy walk which you can finish up by
enjoying a delicious paella in one of
the restaurants in the port.
In ESPORLES, a delightful village, you
can visit an authentic Mallorcan rural
estate or possessió, La Granja, which
dates back to the 17th century and has a
museum, gardens and natural springs.
VALLDEMOSSA is probably one of
the most beautiful municipalities
in the Serra. No wonder the pianist Frédéric Chopin and the writer
George Sand chose to reside in
Valldemossa’s Carthusian Monastery
in the early 19th century. Tasting
the typical coca de patata is a must
here, accompanied by a cup of hot
chocolate or an almond slush.
The Puig des Teix towers over a
valley which has DEIÀ at its centre,
one of the most visited villages after
Valldemossa. English writer Robert
Graves lived and was buried here, like
other artists and intellectuals who
found inspiration in this village.
SÓLLER is cloaked in orange and lemon trees, from the mountains right
down to its emblematic port. The
Sóller train, which runs from Palma
to this municipality, is over 100 years
old, and is one of the most beautiful
excursions you can make when visiting the island. Very nearby are two
tiny villages that are worth stopping
and taking a look at - FORNALUTX
and BUNYOLA. This is the municipality with Mallorca’s most international
possessió, Raixa, an estate covering
520,000m², famous for its flights of

steps and extensive gardens, now restored and converted into a museum
and interpretation centre.
Twin mountains signal the location
of ALARÓ. Its castle, towering at
an altitude of 822 metres, offers a
sweeping, panoramic view of Mallorca on clear days. Not far away, in
the fairytale village of ORIENT, you
can try an authentic arrós brut.
The Lluc Sanctuary lies in ESCORCA,
the most sacred place of pilgrimage
on the island, and also the starting point of the Torrent de Pareis, a
rugged route leading down to the
heavenly beach of Sa Calobra.
Finally we come to POLLENÇA, with
the Roman bridge and the Calvario
as two of its greatest attractions. The
municipality ends at the Formentor
headland, where the island’s most
impressive cliffs plunge into the sea
and end the Serra de Tramuntana.

VALLDEMOSSA es seguramente uno
de los municipios más bellos de la
Serra. No es de extrañar que el pianista Frédéric Chopin y la escritora
George Sand eligieran fijar su residencia en la Cartuja de Valldemossa
a principios del siglo XIX. Imprescindible probar la característica coca de
patata junto a un chocolate caliente
o un granizado de almendra.
En el centro de un valle en el que
sobresale el Puig des Teix, DEIÀ es,
después de Valldemossa, uno de
los pueblos más visitados. Allí vivió
y fue enterrado el escritor inglés
Robert Graves, como otros artistas
e intelectuales que encontraron en
Deià la inspiración.
Los limoneros y naranjos envuelven
a SÓLLER desde la montaña hasta su
emblemático puerto. El tren de Sóller,
que hace el recorrido desde Palma
hasta este municipio, tiene ya más de
100 años, y es una de las excursiones
más hermosas que se pueden reaizar

BUNYOLA. Éste municipio alberga la
possessió más internacional de Mallorca, Raixa, una finca de 520.000m²
famosa por sus escalinatas y extensos
jardines, que ha sido restaurada para
convertirse en museo y centro de
interpretación.
Dos montañas gemelas señalan la
ubicación de ALARÓ. Su castillo, a 822
metros de altura, ofrece en días claros
una panorámica completa de toda
Mallorca. Muy cerca, en el pueblo
de cuento que es ORIENT, se puede
degustar un auténtico arrós brut.
En ESCORCA está el Santuario de
Lluc, el lugar de peregrinaje más sagrado de la isla donde también nace
el Torrent de Pareis, que configura un
recorrido escarpado hasta la paradisiaca playa de Sa Calobra.
Finalmente llegamos a POLLENÇA,
donde el puente romano y el Calvario son algunos de sus mayores encantos. El municipio termina en cabo

kosten!) und PUIGPUNYENT liegen.
BANYALBUFAR ist bekannt für die
Weinterrassen, die bis zum Meer
reichen und das Gesicht des Dörfchens
prägen. Ein Wanderweg führt von Banyalbufar zum Hafen Port des Canonge,
wo man nach einem Ausflug (Schwierigkeitsgrad: leicht) in den Restaurants
ausgezeichnete Paellas genießen kann.
Im wunderhübschen Dörfchen
ESPORLES kann man La Granja, ein
echtes mallorquinisches Landgut aus
dem XVII Jahrhundert besichtigen,
inklusive Museum, Garten und natürlichen Wasserquellen.
VALLDEMOSSA gehört zweifelsohne
zu den schönsten Dörfern der Insel.
Das wussten schon der Pianist Frédéric
Chopin und die Schriftstellerin George Sand zu schätzen, die Anfang des
XIX Jahrhunderts in der Kartause zu
Valldemossa residierten. Ein absolutes
Muss sind die Kartoffelküchlein mit
heißer Schokolade oder erfrischendem Mandel-Eis-Getränk.
Mitten im Tal, über dem der Puig des
Teix thront, liegt DEIÀ, nach Valldemossa eines der am meisten besuchten Dörfchen. Hier lebte und starb
der englische Dichter Robert Graves,
der wie viele andere Künstler in Deià
seine Quelle der Inspiration fand.
Zitronen- und Orangenhaine umsäumen das Dörfchen Sóller in den
Bergen und den dazugehörigen Hafen. Einer der schönsten Ausflüge ist
eine Reise mit dem mehr als hundert
Jahre alten Holzzug tren de Sóller, der
zwischen Palma und Sóller verkehrt.
In unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft liegen
die malerischen Dörfchen FORNALUTX
und BUNYOLA, in dem sich das wohl
internationalste Landgut Mallorcas, La
Raixa, befindet. Die 520.000 Quadratmeter große, kürzlich restaurierte
Finca ist bekannt für ihre weitläufigen
Gärten mit den vielen Freitreppen.
Jetzt gibt es hier auch ein Museum.

for birdwatchers?
The whole of the north
of Mallorca is globally important. I
provide information on the internet
and get 70,000 enquiries every year
from all over the world including
New Zealand, Hong Kong, Austria,
Germany and many from England.
What do you think of S’Albufera de
Mallorca, S’Albufereta and Son Real
as birdwatching destinations?
S’Albufera and Albufereta are two of
the most important birdwatching areas in Europe, they are internationally famous as a holiday destination for
visiting birdwatchers. Other areas of
importance are Son Real, the tower at
Albercutx, Mortitx, Cases Velles and
Ses Salines in the south.

For you, what are the most striking
species that can be sighted here?
There are many species of birds in
Mallorca which are internationally
important and a large percentage of
some species spend the summer here.
The most famous is the Black Vulture
and now also the Griffon Vulture. The
Eleanora’s Falcon comes to Mallorca
for the summer in very important
numbers. Flamingos are here at Ses
Salines in the south, over 400 sometimes which is a high number. People
come from all over the world to see
the endemic Balearic warbler. The Islands off Mallorca hold huge numbers
of breeding Shearwaters.
What nationalities are most of the
birdwatchers who come to the
north of the island?
About 30,000 people come to Mallorca each year to birdwatch, most of
them are British but also many from
Germany, Sweden and France.
How did you become interested in birdwatching, and how did you find out
about Mallorca as a destination for it?
I have always loved Mallorca for
the big open spaces, the wonderful
wild flowers in spring and of course,
the marsh at s’Albufera. All British
birdwatchers talk about Mallorca and
because of this I decided to come
here. I now stay here for six months
of the year. Mallorca is a beautiful
Island and I want to see the beauty
preserved and not developed or ruined by lack of management.
What are the defining characteristics
of a birdwatcher?
Birdwatchers are all different types but
most of them are intelligent and caring
people who want to preserve beautiful
places and not see them developed.
They are concerned for the future of
the planet and are not selfish people
looking to make quick profit by building more houses, they want to keep
the marshes and forests for wildlife.

gran número de halcones de Eleonora viene a veranear en Mallorca. Los
flamencos están presentes aquí, en
Ses Salines en el sur, y a veces hay más
de 400, que es un número importante. Personas vienen de todo el mundo
para ver la endémica curruca balear.
Los islotes frente a Mallorca contienen enormes cantidades de pardelas
reproductoras.

Siempre me ha encantado Mallorca

de s’Albufera. Todos los observadores de aves británicos hablan de Mallorca y fue por esto que decidí venir
aquí. Ahora me quedo seis meses al
año. Mallorca es una isla preciosa y
quiero ver esa belleza conservada,
y no urbanizada o estropeada por
falta de gestión adecuada.
¿Qué características definen a un
ornitólogo?
Hay todo tipo de aficionados a la
ornitología, pero la mayoría de ellos
son personas inteligentes y solidarias
que quieren conservar a los lugares
bellos y no verlos urbanizados. Les
preocupa el futuro del planeta, y no
son personas egoístas que esperen
obtener un beneficio rápido construyendo más casas, sino que quieren
conservar a los humedales y a los
bosques para la vida salvaje.

Ich war schon immer von Mallorca
begeistert: weitläufige Landschaften,
wild blühende Blumen im Frühling
und das Feuchtgebiet s’Albufera.
Jeder britische Ornithologe spricht
von Mallorca und so entschied ich,
selbst herzukommen. Heute lebe
ich sechs Monate im Jahr auf dieser
wunderschönen Insel und ich würde
die bezaubernde Natur gern weiter
erhalten sehen und nicht zerstört
durch Missmanagment.
Welche Eigenschaften zeichnen einen
Ornithologen aus?
Auch wir Vogelkundler sind verschiedene Menschen, aber die meisten sind
intelligente Leute, die daran interessiert sind, die schönen Fleckchen
unserer Erde zu bewahren und nicht
zu urbanisieren. Sie sorgen sich um die
Zukunft unseres Planeten; es sind keine selbstsüchtigen Menschen, die auf
das schnelle Geld durch den Bau immer
neuer Häuser aus sind. Sie wollen die
Natur, ob Feuchtgebiete oder Wälder,
die natürliche Wildnis erhalten.

The fifth-largest of the Balearic Islands is one
of the last virtually unspoilt places in the
Mediterranean.

he island of Cabrera was
occupied by the military
for a century, until it was
officially declared a protected Natural Maritime
Park in 1991. In all
likelihood it was the
prolonged military presence that hindered the
development plans of
the private sector, with
the result that today,
this island and the small
islets around it which
comprise the Cabrera
Archipelago are practically untouched, and
conserve their flora and
fauna: around 450 plant
species, 200 species of
fish and 150 different
types of birds.
Cabrera is just 10 kilometres from the Cabo
de Ses Salines headland
in the south of Mallorca, and can
be accessed by boats belonging to
different companies that take up to
a maximum of one hour to make the
crossing. If you have your own boat,
you can anchor off the island, after
applying for authorisation in advance.
A trip to Cabrera means spending
the whole day there because aside
from enjoying its heavenly beaches
vade and use Cabrera as a base from
which to attack Mallorca. The island
also has a botanical garden, a natural
and ethnological museum and a small
bar in the port.
As a novelty introduced
last year, visitors can
now spend the night
on the island. Cabrera
has a refuge with 12
double rooms, which
we recommend you
book well in advance.

diferentes empresas y que tardan
como máximo una hora en llegar a
destino. Si se dispone de embarcación propia, también se puede fondear pidiendo autorización previa.
Una excursión a Cabrera supone
pasar el día entero ya que además de
disfrutar de sus playas paradisíacas
en los días de verano, o bucear por
sus ricos fondos marinos, hay muchas
más cosas que hacer. Por ejemplo, se
puede visitar el punto más alto de la
isla, donde se encuentra el castillo del
siglo XVI construido para la defensa
de los piratas que pretendían invadir
Cabrera y atacar Mallorca desde allí.
En la isla también existe un jardín
botánico, un museo etnológico y natural, y un pequeño bar en el puerto.
Desde el año pasado se puede pasar
noche en la isla. Cabrera cuenta con
un refugio con 12 habitaciones dobles
para las que se recomienda reservar
con mucha antelación.

Stunde dauert. Wer mit dem eigenen
Schiff vor Cabrera ankern möchte,

de estas fuentes tras fuertes días
de lluvia. Su espectacularidad ha
hecho que Ses Fonts Ufanes sean

Monumento Natural.
La zona es además de alto valor
ecológico al contar con algunas de
las encinas mejor conservadas de
Mallorca. El agua de Ses Fonts Ufanes proviene del almacenamiento
en el Puig Tomir y alrededores.
La excursión para llegar hasta el
punto clave en el que brotan las
fuentes dura apenas 20 minutos.
Se parte de la Ermita de Sant
Miquel y se recorre un camino señalizado y de poca dificultad, por
lo que es ideal para realizar con
niños. A pesar de que haya llovido,
puede ser que las fuentes no hayan brotado todavía, por lo que es
recomendable informarse antes.

he hydrological phenomenon of Ses Fonts Ufanes
occurs in a holm-oak wood
on the Gabellí Petit estate,
in the village of Campanet. The
particular conditions of the earth
and the lower layers of the soil allow
these springs to gush forth after days
of heavy rain. The spectacular nature
of this sight has led to Ses Fonts
Ufanes being officially considered a
natural monument.
Moreover the surrounding area is
of high ecological value, as it has
some of the best-preserved holmoaks on Mallorca. The water of
Ses Fonts Ufanes comes from Puig
Tomir and around.
The walk to reach the crucial point
where the water springs up takes
barely 20 minutes. You leave from
the Chapel of Sant Miquel and walk
along a signposted path, which is
fairly easy, and is therefore perfect
for children. Even after rain, the
springs may not have started yet, so it
is best to find out first.

Das Wasser der Ses Fonts Ufanes
kommt aus den unterirdischen
Speichern des Berges Puig Tomir
und seiner Umgebung.
Nach nur knapp 20 Minuten hat
man die Stelle erreicht, wo das
Wasser aus dem Boden quillt. Der
Weg führt von der Kapelle Sant
Miquel über einen ausgeschilderten Pfad, der leicht zu bewältigen
ist, so dass die Tour auch mit Kindern kein Problem ist. Bevor man
jedoch losgeht, sollte man sich
informieren, ob die Quellen bereits
sprudeln oder man besser noch
einen Tag abwartet.

characteristic Nordic Walking poles
has become a great tourist attraction
in Mallorca. The island’s climate and
the diversity of its scenery complete
this enjoyable, healthy way of making the most of one’s holiday.
The municipality of Alcúdia was
the first to propose a series of
routes which led to the creation of
the very first Nordic Walking Park
on the island. A sporting project
that aims to attract the public to
route complete with exercise charts
and apparatus, and is also the location of the head office of the Spanish Nordic Walking School, where
future instructors are trained.
Playa de Muro will soon have a signposted Nordic Walking route stretching for 5.2 kilometres along the beach.
This sport strengthens muscles,
improves the cardiovascular system,
prevents illnesses, slows down aging and relaxes tension in the nape
of the neck and cervical vertebrae,
along with many other advantages.
Nordic Walking originates from
Finland. In the ‘90s some physical

führt. Die Strecke La Victòria (mittlerer Schwierigkeitsgrad) geht durch
mediterranen Wald und bezaubert
mit wunderschönen Panoramaausblicken. Die Strecke über Coll Baix ist die
schwierigste Route.

sondern eine Radrundfahrt, bei dem die
Teilnehmer die wunderschöne Natur der Insel
kennenlernen können.

he name of this tour is actually quite logical: 312 is
the number of kilometres
the cyclists who come from
all over the world cover every year
in this complete, round-island cycling
tour. In 2015 it takes place on 25th
April. Mallorca 312 - Giant - Taiwan
is a race without winners. The fact
that it is non-competitive gives it a
relaxed atmosphere in which camaraderie reigns, along with a desire to
discover the most beautiful places in
Mallorca on two wheels.
The start and finish of the race is the
Hotel Iberostar Playa de Muro. The
time limit for completion is 14 hours.
But for those of us who are not quite
so well prepared for a distance as long
as the Mallorca 312 - Giant - Taiwan,
the same organisers propose an alternative route, Mallorca 167 - Huerzeler
Bicycle Holidays, which is 167 kilometres long and has a time limit of 9
hours for coming in to the finish. This
tour runs through some of the most
interesting places in the Serra de
Tramuntana mountains.

the summer schools
for beginners and
enthusiasts, children
also have their very
own competition, the
Gran Premio de Playa
de Alcúdia, with the
children’s and youngsters’ categories.
In addition to classical sailing, boards are
now more fashionable than ever in the
Bay of Alcúdia. Paddle
surfing has been one
of the most popular
activities on our coastline for some
years now, as it allows one to surf
in an innovative way, propelling
yourself through the sea with the
aid of a paddle.
For the more daring – and those in
good physical shape – there is kitesurfing. The first school for this speciality on Mallorca was established
in Playa de Muro. In this sport, the
wind helps raise a power kite that is
harnessed to the body. Those who
practise it manage to perform incredible acrobatics over the waves.
But there is also a form of surfing
without a board, using just your
body, gliding across the sea – a sport
known as bodysurfing. In wakesurfing, a person on a board is dragged
by a motorboat, whilst in flyboard-

strapped to a water
jet pack which bolts
onto the engine of a
jetski and allows you
to fly as high as 12
metres.
As for swimming,
crossings in open
water from Formentor to Playa de Sant
Pere take place every

Además de la vela clásica, las tablas
están más de moda que nunca en
la bahía de Alcúdia. El padle surf
es una de las actividades con más
popularidad en nuestra costa desde
hace algunos años, ya que permite
una innovadora forma de surfear,
propulsándose por el mar con la
ayuda de un remo.
Para los más atrevidos y en buena
forma física está el kite surf –en
Playa de Muro se fundó la primera escuela de esta especialidad en
Mallorca–. En este deporte, el viento
ayuda a levantar una cometa de
tracción que va unida al cuerpo.
Con ella se pueden hacer increíbles
acrobacias sobre las olas. Pero también está la modalidad de surfear sin
tabla usando solo el cuerpo deslizándose por el mar, un deporte al que
se conoce como body surfing. En el
wakesurf, una persona subida a una
tabla es arrastrada por una barca a
motor, mientras que en el flyboard
va atada a una moto de agua y con
la velocidad se alza permitiendo
volar hasta a 12 metros de altura.
En cuanto a la natación, la travesía
de nado en aguas abiertas que va
desde Formentor hasta la Playa de
Sant Pere tiene lugar cada mes de
septiembre, ganando más adeptos
cada año, si bien solo está recomendada la participación a personas con
excelentes condiciones físicas capaces de soportar el duro trayecto.

Kinder wird die eigene Segelregatta
Gran Premio de Playa de Alcúdia veranstaltet, die in den Klassen Kinder

Neben dem klassischen Segeln sind
auch die Bretter in der Bucht von Alcúdia präsenter denn je. Seit einigen
Jahren steht das Paddelsurfen an
unserer Küste hoch im Kurs. Wie der
Name sagt, surft man im Stehen mit
einem Stechpaddel durch die Wellen.

Mutige, die topfit sind, trauen sich
ans Kitesurfen. So verwundert es
nicht, dass die erste Kitesurfschule
Mallorcas am Playa de Muro gegründet wurde. Beim Kitesurfen wird der
Sportler von einem mit dem Körper
verbundenen Lenkdrachen übers
Wasser gezogen. Einige Kitsurfer
vollbringen wahrhafte Akrobatikwunder. Beim Bodysurfen hingegen
gleitet man die Wellen nur mit dem
Körper, ohne jegliche Hilfsmittel ab.
Wakeboarder schnallen das Surfbrett
an die Füße und lassen sich von einem
Motorboot ziehen, während dies
beim Flyboarden ein Jetski übernimmt, der den Sportler durch den
Rückstoß des Wasserstrahls bis in eine
Höhe von 12 Metern katapultiert.
Auch Schwimmfans kommen nicht
zu kurz. Jedes Jahr im September
findet von Formentor bis Playa
de Sant Pere ein Wettschwimmen
statt, für das sich immer mehr
Menschen begeistern. An dem harten Rennen sollten jedoch nur gut
trainierte Sportler teilnehmen.

The Son Real estate, set in the midst of nature,
shows the passage of the different civilisations that
have populated the area since prehistoric times.

he 395 hectares covered
by Son Real, located in
Santa Margalida, in the
middle of the arc traced
by the Bay of Alcúdia, contain
vestiges of the Pre-Talayotic, Talayotic, Roman, Islamic and Medieval
eras. These remains comprise a
highly significant part of Mallorca’s
archaeological heritage, above all
as a result of the two prehistoric
necropolises, S’Illot des Porros and
Sa Punta des Fenicis, in the PreTalayotic village of Es Figueral.
The possessió, or rural estate of Son
Real, is composed of different types
of buildings from diverse periods.
Can Morell, Ca n’Apol·lònia and Ca
s’Amitger are from the Middle Ages
and comprise the lord’s house, with
its courtyard, defence towers, chapel
and storerooms. Ses Cases Noves are
20th-century buildings, and were renovated to create the Son Real Interpretation Centre in 2008, an exhibition
space where the history of Son Real
and the peasant farmers of the island
is dealt with from an archaeological
and ethnological perspective.
Son Real is also devoted to ecological farming and livestock activity.
The natural surroundings boast a
rich diversity of ecosystems - beach,
dunes, vegetation characteristic
of Mallorca such as Mediterranean
scrub or Aleppo pines, and the flora
and fauna in the mouths of the torrent beds in the area, of particular
significance to birdwatchers, who
find extremely interesting species
of birds at Son Real.
A stretch of the pedra en sec, or ‘dry
stone’ route runs from Son Serra
de Marina to Can Picafort. It forms
part of the GR 222 (Artà - Lluc) and
is classified as being of high scenic
and archaeological value. Along this
route you will find the prehistoric
necropolis of Sa Punta des Fenicis
and other places of interest, such as

Mallorca, sobre todo gracias a las dos
necrópolis prehistóricas, S’Illot des
Porros y Sa Punta des Fenicis, en el
poblado pretalayótico de Es Figueral.
La possessió está formada por diferentes tipos de edificaciones de distintas
épocas. Can Morell, Ca n’Apol·lònia
y Ca s’Amitger son de la Edad Media
y conforman las casas señoriales, con
su patio, torres de defensa, capilla y
almacenes. Ses Cases Noves son del
siglo XX y fueron rehabilitadas para
crear el Centro de Interpretación de
Son Real en 2008, un espacio expositivo donde se trata la historia de Son
Real y la payesía de Mallorca desde
un punto de vista arqueológico y
etnológico.
Son Real se dedica también a la actividad agrícola ecológica y ganadera. Su
entorno natural disfruta de la riqueza
de una gran diversidad de ecosistemas: playa, dunas, vegetación característica de Mallorca como el matorral
mediterráneo o el pino carrasco, y la
flora y fauna en la desembocadura de
los torrentes de la zona, especialmente interesante para los ornitólogos
que en Son Real encuentran especies
de aves muy interesantes.
Existe un tramo de ruta de la pedra
en sec que va desde Son Serra de
Marina a Can Picafort. Forma parte
de la GR 222 (Artà - Lluc) y tiene un
alto valor paisajístico y arqueológico. En este recorrido se encuentran la
necrópolis prehistórica de Sa Punta des
Fenicis y otros puntos de interés como
el Fondo de Son Real, zona húmeda en
la desembocadura del torrente, el Nido
de Ametralladoras, construcción militar
de la II República, las sabinas, madroños, pinos y acebuches del Sabinar o
S’Illot des Porros. Esta interesante ruta,
que permite conocer mejor la Finca de
Son Real y su entorno, se puede hacer
a pie, en bici, practicando Nordic Walking o, bajo petición, a caballo.

on this church began in
1302, by order of King
Jaime II. The passage of time and
the poor condition it was in forced
its reconstruction from scratch in
1870. In Neo-Gothic style, it has a
single nave and side chapels with
a ribbed vault ceiling. One of the
chapels, in Baroque style, is where
the Sant Crist is kept.
CHAPEL OF LA VICTÒRIA (La Victòria
Mountain in Alcúdia). Concealed in
an peaceful area behind Es Mal Pas
lies this chapel which dates back to
1679. It has a single nave topped
with a Baroque-style barrel vault.

CLOISTER OF THE FORMER CONVENT
OF THE MINIMS (Muro). Work on
this convent complex was completed
in 1768. It has four galleries with
porticoes, pillars with conical shafts
and pseudo-Ionic capitals. In 1836
it ceased to be a religious building
and was transformed into a town
hall, archive or school. The main
building is the Church of Santa Ana,
also from the 18th century.
CHURCH OF SANT JOAN (Muro). This
is the parish church of Muro. It dates
back to 1611 and has the charac-
teristics of traditional Mallorcan
Gothic. The exterior has extremely
solid buttresses, large windows and
adorned doors. Its 17th-century belltower is one of the symbols of the
municipality of Muro.
CHURCH OF SANTA MARGALIDA
(Santa Margalida). Reconstructed
on the site of the former medieval
church, it has one nave in Gothic style
with a ribbed vault. It dates back to
1630. The altar is in Baroque style
and is where the icon of the village’s
patron saint, Santa Margalida, is
found. The square affords a fantastic panoramic view of the Sierra de
Tramuntana mountains, a viewing
platform presided over by the bust
of Joan Mascaró i Fornés, a great
spiritual disseminator.
ORATORY OF SAN JUAN BAUTISTA
(Son Serra de Marina). Built in Romanesque style, this small oratory
was blessed in 1912. The fauna and
flora decoration of its capitals is
outstanding. It has a semicirculararched doorway with archivolts,
a central rose window, Lombard
arches and a cross.
Other places of interest: Oratory of
Santa Anna (Alcúdia), Cave of Sant
Martí (Alcúdia), Esglesieta (small
church) of La Sang (Muro), Chapel of
Sant Vicenç (Muro), and the church of
Sant Albert El Magne (Muro).

escondido dejando atrás la tranquila
zona de Es Mal Pas, se encuentra esta
ermita que data de 1679. Tiene una
nave única cubierta con bóveda de
cañón de estilo barroco. En el retablo
mayor está la imagen de la Mare de
Déu de la Victòria, del siglo XV.
CLAUSTRO DEL EX CONVENTO DE
LOS MÍNIMOS (Muro). Las obras de
este conjunto de conventos finalizaron en 1768. Cuenta con cuatro
galerías con pórtico, columnas de
fuste troncónico y capiteles pseudojónicos. En 1836 dejó de ser un
edificio religioso para convertirse en
Ayuntamiento, archivo o colegio. Su
edificio principal es la Iglesia de Santa
Ana, También del siglo XVIII.

IGLESIA DE SANTA MARGALIDA
(Santa Margalida). Reedificada sobre
la antigua iglesia medieval, tiene
una nave, de estilo gótico y bóveda
de crucería. Data de 1630. El altar es
de estilo barroco y allí se encuentra
la patrona de este pueblo, Santa
Margalida. Desde la plaza hay una
fantástica panorámica de la Sierra de
Tramuntana, un mirador que preside
el busto de Joan Mascaró i Fornés,
gran divulgador espiritual.
ORATORIO DE SAN JUAN BAUTISTA (Son Serra de Marina). De estilo
románico, este pequeño oratorio
fue bendecido en 1912. Destaca la
decoración de fauna y flora de sus
capiteles. Tiene un portal de medio
punto y arquivoltas, rosetón central,
arcos lombardos y una cruz.

IRCHE SANT JAUME (Alcúdia). Mit dem Bau wurde

KLOSTER UND EHEMALIGER KONVENT DER MÍNIMOS (Muro). Der
Konvent, dessen Bau 1768 endete,
besteht aus mehreren Gebäuden mit
vier Säulengängen. Die Schäfte der
Säulen laufen kegelförmig zu, die
Kapitelle sind pseudo-ionisch. Ab
1836 dienten die Gebäude als Rathaus, Archiv und Schule. Das Hauptgebäude ist die Kirche Santa Ana aus
dem XVIII Jahrhundert.
KIRCHE SANT JOAN (Muro). Die
Iglesia de Santa Margalida.
Pfarrkirche von Muro in traditioneller mallorquinischer Gotik-Bauweise
stammt aus dem Jahr 1611. Die Kirche
beeindruckt mit robusten Pfeilern,
großen Fenstern und hübsch bermalten Türen. Der Glockenturm aus dem
XVII Jahrhundert ist eines der Wahrzeichen des Dorfes.
KIRCHE SANTA MARGALIDA (Santa
Margalida). Die Kirche im gotischen
Stil wurde 1630 über dem alten Gotteshaus aus dem Mittelalter errichtet.
Auf dem Barock-Altar findet sich
die Schutzpatronin des Dorfes, die
Heilige Margalida. Vom Vorplatz der
Kirche, auf dem eine Büste des Lehrers und Schriftstellers Joan Mascaró
i Fornés steht, öffnet sich ein atemberaubender Panoramablick auf das
Tramuntana-Gebirge.
HAUSKAPELLE SAN JUAN BAUTISTA
(Son Serra de Marina). Die kleine
romanische Kapelle wurde 1912
geweiht. Hervorzuheben sind die mit
Pflanzen- und Tiermotiven bemalten
Kapitelle sowie das Rundportal und
die Archivolten, die Fensterrose, die
Bogenfriese und das Kreuz.

centre of Mallorca begins
with a visit to the Campanet Caves, considered
some of the most beautiful on the
island. They are located in a privileged valley where the character and
charm of the rural Mallorcan countryside lives on. Along the 3,200-metre-long route we encounter exuberant ornamentation, sculpted over
millions of years by the action of the
water, with a remarkable diversity of
forms and colours.
After a rainy spell, few spectacles are
as beautiful as the one offered by the
Fonts Ufanes, a natural phenomenon
caused by an accumulation of rainfall.
Afterwards, a stroll round the centre
of Campanet, with its steep, narrow
streets, is especially magical.
Finally, one stop that can always
be recommended is Menestralia,
a Neo-Gothic style building with a
52-metre-high tower that houses
a traditional glass-blowing factory
and a restaurant where you can try
one of the most varied, best-quality
buffets on the island, which is nevertheless economical. The Menestralia
restaurant stands out for its traditional Mallorcan and international
dishes, as well as the friendly service
and relaxed, family atmosphere.

de Campanet, consideradas de las más bellas de la isla. Están

he island of Alcanada
lies just 150 metres from
the beach, and if the tide
is low you can walk to
it and discover the symbolic lighthouse from close quarters. The small
island affords a panoramic view of
the Bay of Alcúdia, which is why it
was decided to build this lighthouse
here more than a century ago. The
engineer Emili Pou, who was responsible for the construction of over
twenty lighthouses in the Balearics,
was also charged with installing one
on the island of Alcanada. At the
time of its inauguration, in 1861, its
optical system was catadioptric and
it had a fixed light. In the early 20th
century, the lighthouse started using
a lamp that burned acetylene which
was made on the premises. Finally,
in 1960 ignition was automated
with a solar valve and since then,
the lighthouse has had no permanent residents, the keepers who
had aided shipwrecked sailors in
the area for decades. Nowadays the
lighthouse – held in great esteem by
residents of Alcúdia – runs without
gas, although it does still conserve
the old lamp, and its energy source is
the solar panels that set the modern
LED-based optical system in motion.

acceder hasta ella caminando y conocer su simbólico faro de cerca. Desde
la pequeña isla se obtiene una completa visión de la bahía de Alcúdia,
razón por lo que se decidió construir
allí este faro hace más de un siglo. El
ingeniero Emili Pou, responsable de
la construcción de
más de veinte faros
en Baleares, fue
también el encargado de instaurar
uno de ellos en la
isla de Alcanada.
En el momento de
su inauguración,
en 1861, su óptica
era catadrióptrica y de luz fija. A
principios del siglo

XX se empezó a usar un quemador de
gas acetileno que se elaboraba en el
mismo faro. Finalmente, en 1960 se
automatizó el encendido a través de
una válvula solar y, desde entonces, el
faro se quedó sin residentes fijos, los
torreros que durante décadas auxiliaron a los náufragos de la zona. A día
de hoy el faro, un lugar muy apreciado por los alcudienses, funciona
sin gas, aunque se conserva la vieja
linterna, y su fuente son los paneles
solares que ponen en marcha la moderna óptica de LEDs.

Von hier öffnet sich der Blick über
die Bucht von Alcúdia; dies war
auch der Grund für den Bau des
Leuchtfeuers vor mehr als hundert
Jahren. Der Bau des Leuchtturms
wurde vom Ingenieur Emili Pou
geleitet, der auch für den Bau
von mehr als 20 anderen balearischen Leuchttürmen verantwortlich zeichnete. Bei der Eröffnung
1861 war der Leuchtturm mit einer
katroptischen Lichtanlage und
festem Leuchtfeuer ausgestattet.
Anfang des XX Jahrhunderts wurde
er mit Acetylengas betrieben, das
im Leuchtturm hergestellt wurde.
1960 wurde eine vollautomatische
Lichtanlage eingebaut, die Leuchtturmwärter, die jahrzehntelang die
Seemänner geleitet hatten, zogen
aus. Heute wird der Leuchtturm mit
Solarenergie und einem modernen
LED-System betrieben. Die alte
Leuchtturmlaterne ist erhalten und
der Turm ist nach wie vor der ganze
Stolz der Einwohner Alcúdias.

From January to December, the northern part
of Mallorca commemorates the most significant
events in its history.

a diciembre, los hechos más significativos de

Von Januar bis Dezember gedenkt man im
Norden Mallorcas der bedeutendsten historischen
Ereignisse, die die Region geprägt haben.

he month of January is
very important for all
Mallorcans, as it is when
one of the island’s most
popular festivals takes place: on the
16th, San Antonio, the patron saint
of animals, comes out onto the
street and parades amongst demons
and residents who light bonfires, or
foguerons. The following day, the 17th
January, is the day of Ses Beneïdes,
when animals are blessed in village
streets and squares. During Holy
Week, the villages of the north fill up
with processions and pointed hoods.
On Maundy Thursday, tradition
dictates that godparents gift their
godchildren a “rosary”, a necklace
of candied fruit and sweets. After
Easter, Pancaritat is celebrated, when
residents share the last empanadas
(pies) left over from Holy Week.
June and July are months for paying
tribute to different characters who
were prominent in the history of
the northern part of Mallorca. The
port of Alcúdia pays homage to San
Pedro, (Saint Peter), the patron saint
of fishermen, by holding a maritime
procession of decorated boats which
take the saint on a voyage around
the bay. The same kind of procession
is held in Son Serra de Marina, with
the fishermen’s patron, the Virgen del
Carmen. In late June and July Muro
and Alcúdia also commemorate the
patron of their churches, San Juan
Bautista and Sant Jaume, respectively, with numerous sports events,
exhibitions and concerts.
The month of July is when Muro
hosts the “Corregudes al Cos”,
some very peculiar races that take
place amongst the crops, a tradition the commemorates the village’s agricultural origins.
On 15th August, Can Picafort is the
venue for the fiesta of La Mare de
Deu, or Mother of God, and for 80
years now ducks have been released
to celebrate the day, which swimmers

have to catch. The aim is to catch as
many ducks as possible, but for the
last few years rubber ducks have
taken the place of the real birds. The
winners receive a prize.
To herald the autumn, Alcúdia
opens up the door to the Fira
d’Alcúdia, or Autumn Fair, with the
singular parade known as S’Estol
del Rei en Jaume, as a tribute to the
arrival of King Jaime I, the Conqueror, in Mallorca. This parade of
big-headed figures represents this
king and other important personalities from the history of the island,
such as Ramon Llull.
During the first week of September,
the Fiestas de La Beata take place
in the village of Santa Margalida.
The procession is the best-known
part of this celebration, and represents different moments from the
life of Santa Caterina Tomàs i Gallard, with elaborate floats.

fiestas más populares: el día 16, San
Antonio, patrón de los animales,
sale a la calle y desfila entre dimonis
y vecinos que prenden hogueras o
foguerons. Al día siguiente, el 17
de enero, se celebran Ses Beneïdes,
en las que los animales son santificados en las calles y plazas de los
pueblos. Durante la Semana Santa,
las procesiones y capirotes llenan los
pueblos del norte. El Jueves Santo
es tradición que los padrinos regalen a sus ahijados un “rosari”, collar
de fruta escarchada y dulces. Tras la
Pascua se celebra el Pancaritat, cita
en la que los vecinos comparten las
últimas empanadas que les quedan
de los días de Semana Santa.
En junio y julio el Puerto de Alcúdia
homenajea a San Pedro, patrón de los
pescadores, celebrando una procesión marítima, con barcas decoradas
que acompañan al santo en un paseo
por la bahía. El mismo estilo de
procesión se celebra en Son Serra
de Marina con la patrona de los
pescadores, la Virgen del Carmen. A
finales de junio y julio, Muro y Alcúdia también conmemoran al patrón
de sus iglesias, San Juan Bautista y
Sant Jaume, respectivamente, organizando numerosos actos deportivos,
exposiciones y conciertos.
En el mes de julio se celebra en
Muro las “Corregudes al Cos” carreras muy peculiares entre cultivos, tradición que conmemora los
orígenes agrícolas de Muro.
El 15 de agosto en Can Picafort se
celebra la fiesta de la Mare de Deu,
y desde hace 80 años se realiza una
suelta de patos con premios. El objetivo es atrapar a nado el mayor
número posible, pero desde hace
ya algunos años se han sustituido

las aves por patos de goma.
Para iniciar el otoño, Alcúdia abre
la puerta a la Fira d’Alcúdia con el
singular pasacalles de S’Estol del Rei
en Jaume, un homenaje a la llegada
del rey Jaime I el Conquistador a
Mallorca. El desfile de cabezudos
representa a este rey y a otros personajes importantes de la historia
de la isla como Ramon Llull.
Durante la primera semana de
septiembre tienen lugar las Fiestas
de La Beata en el pueblo de Santa
Margalida. La procesión es la parte
más conocida de esta celebración y
representa distintos momentos de

und Süßigkeiten. Nach Ostern begeht man das Brot
der Barmherzigkeit (Pancaridad). An diesem Tag teilen
Nachbarn die von der Osterwoche übrig gebliebenen
Pasteten und Küchlein miteinander.
Im Juni und Juli gedenken die Einheimischen historischen
Persönlichkeiten, die die Geschichte des Inselnordens
geprägt haben. Im Hafen von Alcúdia findet zu Ehren
des Heiligen Petrus, Schutzpatron der Fischer, ein Umzug
auf dem Meer statt. Bunt geschmückte Boote begleiten
den Heiligen auf seiner Prozession durch die Bucht. In
Son Serra de Marina hingegen huldigt man der Jungfrau
Carmen, Schutzherrin der Fischer, mit einem Umzug.
Ende Juni, Anfang Juli werden in Muro und Alcúdia die
Schutzpatrone der dortigen Kirchen, San Juan Bautista
bzw. Sant Jaume mit zahlreichen Sportevents sowie Ausstellungen und Konzerten geehrt.
Im Juli wird in Muro mit den Volksläufen “Corregudes al
Cos”, die über die Felder führen, eine Tradition weitergeführt, die an die bäuerlichen Wurzeln des Ortes erinnert.
Am 15. August feiert man in Can Picafort Mariä Himmelfahrt und lässt aus diesem Anlass seit 80 Jahren
Enten fliegen, wobei das lebende Federvieh seit
einigen Jahren durch Gummienten ersetzt wird. Alle
stürzen sich ins Meer, um die meisten Tiere einzufangen. Dies wird mit Preisen belohnt.
Mit einem großen Stadtfest (Fira) läutet Alcúdia den
Herbst ein. Der originelle Umzug S’Estol del Rei erinnert
an die Ankunft des Königs Jaime I, der einst Mallorca
eroberte. Der Monarch, aber auch andere bedeutende
Persönlichkeiten der Inselgeschichte, wie Ramón Llull, sind
beim Umzug der Riesenköpfe vertreten.
In der ersten Septemberwoche finden in Santa Margalida die Feierlichkeiten La Beata zu Ehren der Seligen
Caterina Tomàs i Gallard statt, deren Leben bei einem
Umzug mit farbenfrohen, liebevoll geschmückten Festkutschen nachempfunden wird.

home called Can Simó,
presents a display of farming tools and different rooms in a
house typical of the rural Mallorca
of the early 20th century, such as
the disappearance or readjustment
of certain trades and activities that
were and indeed still are expressions of our society.
Manufacturing bread, the trades of
spoonmaker or espadrille maker, how
clothes were washed, whitewashing…
Este centro pretende mantener y
divulgar una historia muy importante de Mallorca y los malloquines, para que no caiga en el
olvido. Los objetos exhibidos son
testimonio material de la cultura
popular y tradicional, considerando además que el paso de una
sociedad agraria a una sociedad
industrial, y después a la sociedad de las nuevas tecnologías,
ha conducido a la desaparición o
readaptación de oficios y actividades que han sido y son manifestaciones de nuestra sociedad.
La elaboración del pan, el oficio
de cucharero, el oficio de alpargatero, hacer la colada, encalar…
son algunas de las actividades
que a buen seguro llamarán la
atención del visitante.

exhibited are tangible evidence of
traditional and popular culture,
bearing in mind too that the transition from an agrarian to an industrial society, and afterwards the
new technology society, has led to
these are just some of the activities
that are sure to fascinate visitors.

Stücke sind Teil der einheimischen
Kultur und Traditionen, zumal der
Übergang von der Agrar- zur Industrie- und später zur Technologiegesellschaft mit dem Verschwinden
bzw. der Anpassung von Handwerken und Gebräuchen einherging,
die Teil des gesellschaftlichen
Lebens waren und sind.
Das Brotbacken, die Löffelherstellung, das Anfertigen der
Espadrillen-Schuhe, traditionelles
Wäschewaschen oder das Tünchen von Wänden sind nur einige
der gezeigten Gewerke, die den
Besucher beeindrucken dürften.

When Mallorca was conquered by the
Crown of Aragon in 1229, King Jaime I
decided to demolish Medina Mayurca, the
city’s mosque. In its place he ordered a
catholic church to be built – the cathedral – which he dedicated to Saint Mary,
to whom he had prayed during a violent
storm on his way to the island, from which
he was delivered unharmed.
Mallorca cathedral is built of sandstone, a
characteristic material of the island’s buildings, which was brought in from Llucmajor.
The interventions by the architect Antonio
Gaudí and the artist Miquel Barceló attract
both residents and tourists.

allorca cathedral is the
only one in the Gothic
world to overlook the sea,
and after construction on
it was completed in 1601 up until the
creation of the Parque del Mar, the
reflection of this religious building –
the most important one on the island –
could be seen in the sea on calm days.
The cathedral is in the Gothic style
typical of the eastern seaboard of Spain
and boasts the largest rose window
of the Gothic movement. Twice a
year, coinciding with the solstice, on
2nd February and 11th November, the
rose window creates a visual spectacle
when the sunlight enters the cathedral
at dawn, and is projected onto the

del Mar, este edificio religioso, el más
importante de la isla, se reflejaba en el
agua del mar los días de calma.
La Catedral es de estilo gótico levantino y
tiene el rosetón más grande del movimiento gótico. Dos veces al año, coincidiendo con el solsticio, el 2 de febrero y
el 11 de noviembre, el rosetón produce
un espectáculo visual con la entrada de la
luz del sol al nacer el día, que se proyecta
en el otro lado de la Catedral, bajo otro
rosetón de menor tamaño, y juntos dibujan un “ocho” colorido.
Con la conquista de Mallorca por la Corona de Aragón en 1229, el rey Jaime
I decidió derribar Medina Mayurca, la
mezquita musulmana de la ciudad. En
su lugar mandó construir un templo católico (la Catedral) que dedicó a Santa
María, a quien rezó durante un fuerte
temporal de camino a la isla, del que
finalmente salió ileso.
La Catedral de Mallorca está construida con
piedra de marés, característica de las edificaciones de la isla, proveniente de Llucmajor.

wurde. Von der Fertigstellung des
Bauwerks im Jahre 1601 bis zum
Bau des „Parque del Mar“ spiegelte sich das bedeutendste Gotteshaus der Insel an ruhigen Tagen in
den Meereswellen wider.
Die Kathedrale im levantisch-gotischen
Stil beherbergt die größte gotische
Fensterrose. Zwei Mal im Jahr, zur
Sonnenwende am 2. Februar und am
11. November, kann man am frühen
Morgen ein optisches Schauspiel
bewundern, wenn die Sonnenstrahlen
durch die große Fensterrose fallen und
auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite,
unter einer kleineren Fensterrose,
reflektiert werden. Beide Fensterrosen
bilden dann eine farbenfrohe „Acht“.
Nachdem König Jaime I 1229 Mallorca
für die Krone Aragons erobert hatte,
verfügte der Monarch den Abriss der
Moschee der Stadt (Medina Mayurca)
und ließ an ihrer Stelle die Kathedrale
errichten, die er der Heiligen Maria widmete. König Jaime I hatte während eines
schweren Sturms bei der Überfahrt nach
Mallorca zur Jungfrau um Hilfe gebetet.
Der Monarch kam umverletzt auf der
Insel an und dankte es der Heiligen mit
dem Bau des Gotteshauses.
Die Kathedrale wurde aus dem auf Mallorca typischen Marés-Sandstein gebaut,
der seinerzeit in den Steinbrüchen von
Llucmajor gehauen wurde.

¼ loaf of “sopas” bread (in very
thinly cut slices).
1 bunch of spring onions.
1 small cauliflower.
1 small cabbage.
4 artichokes.
2 cloves of garlic.
1 bunch of parsley.
1 ripe tomato.
1 handful of peas.
100 g green beans.
¼ kg assorted wild mushrooms.
Oil, salt, pepper and paprika.
INGREDIENTES PARA 4 PERSONAS:
¼ de sopas de pan (rebanadas de pan
cortadas muy finas).
1 manojo de cebolletas tiernas.
1 coliflor pequeña.
1 col pequeña.
4 alcachofas.
2 ajos.
1 manojo de perejil.
1 tomate maduro.
1 puñado de guisantes.
100 gr de judías tiernas.
¼ de setas variadas.
Aceite, sal, pimienta y pimentón
dulce.
PREPARATION:
Wash and chop all the vegetables.
Put some olive oil into a pan and
lightly fry the garlic, spring onions and
tomato. When it is golden brown add
the remaining vegetables, season with
salt and pepper and add a teaspoonful of paprika. Cover with water and
leave to cook for around 15 minutes.
Meanwhile take a terracotta pot and
cover the bottom with the “sopas” bread.
When the vegetables are cooked remove with a slotted spoon and place
on top of the slices of bread. When
they are completely covered with
vegetables, pour some of the stock
over them (the bread must be moistened but not go too sloppy), leave
to stand, preferably until the following day, heat up in the oven and the
dish is ready to eat. It is usually served
with chillies, olives or other pickles.
ZUTATEN FÜR 4 PERSONEN:
¼ dünne Scheiben mallorquinisches
Landbrot (für sopes).
1 Bund Frühlingszwiebeln.
1 kleiner Blumenkohl.
1 kleiner Weißkohl.
4 Artischocken.
2 Knoblauchzehen.
1 Bund Petersilie.
1 reife Tomate.
1 Handvoll Erbsen.
100 gr junge grüne Bohnen.
¼ verschiedene Pilze.
Öl, Salz, Pfeffer, süßer Paprika.
ZUBEREITUNG::
PREPARACIÓN:
Lavar y cortar toda la verdura. Poner
aceite de oliva en una cacerola, sofreír los ajos, la cebolleta y el tomate.
Cuando esté dorado añadir el resto
de verduras, remover, salpimentar y
poner una cucharadita de pimentón.
Seguidamente añadir agua hasta que
cubra, dejar cocer unos 15 minutos.
Por otro lado coger una cazuela de
barro y cubrir el fondo con las sopas.
Cuando la verdura esté cocida retirar
con una espumadera e ir colocando
sobre las sopas. Una vez bien cubiertas de verdura, regar con un poco de
caldo (tiene que mojar las sopas pero
no tienen que quedar caldosas), dejar
reposar mejor de un día para otro, calentar en el horno y listas para comer.
Suelen acompañarse con guindillas,
aceitunas u otro tipo de encurtidos.

Tomate und Knoblauchzehen darin anbraten, bis alles schön goldbraun ist. Dann
den Rest des Gemüses zufügen, umrühren,
salzen und pfeffern und einen Teelöffel süßen Paprika zugeben. Mit Wasser
ablöschen und so viel zugeben, bis alles
bedeckt ist. 15 Minuten kochen lassen.
Inzwischen den Boden einer anderen TonKasserolle mit den dünnen Brotscheiben
belegen. Wenn das Gemüse gar ist, das
Gemüse mit dem Schaumlöffel aus der ersten Kasserolle nehmen und in die zweite
Kasserolle auf die Brotscheiben schichten.
Etwas von der gekochten Gemüsebrühe darüber gießen, aber so, dass kein
Eintopf entsteht. Am besten einen Tag
durchziehen lassen. Vor dem Servieren im
Ofen erwärmen. Dazu reicht man in Essig
eingelegte Oliven oder Peperoni.
INGREDIENTS FOR 4:
2 kg lobster.
2 dl oil.
5 crushed garlic cloves.
4 green peppers.
2 medium onions.
500 g tomatoes.
1 bay leaf.
½ spoonful of toasted flour.
½ glass of brandy.
For the “picada” (mixture to add flavour and texture):
2 Inca biscuits.
80 g toasted almonds.
Chilli.
Parsley.
Marjoram and mint.
PREPARATION:
Cut the lobster up into large pieces. Put
some oil into a terracotta pot and add
the garlic, onion and chopped peppers.
Fry lightly with the tomato. Add the
lobsters and sauté, and flambé with a
little brandy. Add two litres of water,
and then the “picada” ingredients
ground together along with the toasted
flour. Cook for 20 minutes. When it is
cooked, serve with brown or dry bread.

PREPARACIÓN:
Trocear la langosta en trozos grandes.
Poner aceite en la cazuela de barro e
introducir los ajos, la cebolla, y el pimiento picado. Hacer el sofrito con el
tomate. Rehogar las langostas y flambear con un poco de coñac. Añadir
dos litros de agua. Añadir la picada y
la harina tostada. Cocer durante 20
minutos. Una vez cocinado se sirve
junto a pan moreno o seco.

Knoblauch, Zwiebeln und die kleingeschnittenen Paprikaschoten geben und

die Soße und das geröstete Mehl zugeben und alles 20 Minuten kochen lassen.

eggs, grated rind of 1 lemon, ground
cinnamon, icing sugar, butter and
almond ice cream.
PREPARATION:
Beat the egg whites until stiff. In another bowl, mix the egg yolks with the
sugar, grated lemon rind, almonds and
cinnamon. After mixing, add the beaten
egg whites. Grease a mould with butter,
pour in the batter and bake at 160º for
1 hour. When the sponge is ready, serve
with the almond ice cream.

PREPARATION:
Peel and slice the potatoes. Slice the
courgette and the aubergines too
(without peeling). Boil the tomatoes and then peel and chop. Dice
the peppers. Add oil to a frying
pan and fry the potatoes. Remove.
Then fry each vegetable separately.
Drain off the excess oil with kitchen
roll. Meanwhile prepare the tomato sauce in the frying pan with
the garlic, pepper and salt. Fill up a
terracotta pot with the vegetables,
placing first a layer of potatoes,
then the aubergines, followed by
the courgette and finally the pepper.
Cover with tomato sauce.

PREPARACIÓN:
Pelar las patatas y cortarlas en rodajas. Cortar también en rodajas el calabacín y las berenjenas (sin quitarles
la piel). Hervir los tomates, pelarlos
y picarlos. Cortar los pimientos. En
la sartén con aceite freír las patatas.
Retirarlas. Freír después cada verdura
por separado. Escurrir los restos de
aceite en papel absorbente. En la
sartén se prepara, mientras tanto, la
salsa de tomate con ajos, pimienta
y sal. Llenar un recipiente de barro
con las verduras. Primero las patatas,
segundo las berenjenas, tercero los
calabacines y cuarto los pimientos.
Cubrir con salsa de tomate.
ZUBEREITUNG:
Kartoffeln schälen und in Scheiben schneiden. Zucchini und Auberginen ebenfalls
in Scheiben schneiden, ohne die Haut zu
entfernen. Tomaten aufkochen, schälen
und kleinschneiden. Die Paprikaschoten
schneiden. Kartoffeln in einer Pfanne mit
Öl dünsten und beiseite stellen. Danach
das restliche Gemüse jeweils getrennt in
der Pfanne dünsten. Herausnehmen und
das Öl auf Küchenpapier abtropfen lassen.
In der Pfanne die Tomatensoße mit Knoblauchzehen, Pfeffer und Salz zubereiten.
Gemüse in eine tönerne Kasserolle schichten, von unten nach oben: Kartoffeln,
Auberginen, Zucchini und Paprikaschoten.
Mit der Tomatensoße übergießen.
INGREDIENTES PARA 4 PERSONAS:
200g de almendra molida, 200g de
azúcar, 6 huevos, 1 piel de limón
rallada, canela en polvo, azúcar glass,
mantequilla y helado de almendra.
PREPARACIÓN:
Montar las claras de huevo. En otro recipiente mezclar las yemas y el azúcar,
la ralladura de limón, las almendras y
la canela. A la mezcla añadir las claras
montadas. En el molde untar mantequilla, añadir la masa y hornear a 160º
durante 1 hora. Una vez horneado se
sirve junto al helado de almendra.
ZUTATEN FÜR 4 PERSONEN:
200 g gemahlene Mandeln, 200 g
Zucker, 6 Eier, geriebene Zitronenschale, Zimtpulver, Puderzucker,
Butter und Mandeleis.
ZUBEREITUNG:
Das Eiweiß zu Schnee schlagen. In
einer anderen Schüssel Eigelb mit
Zucker, geriebene Zitronenschale,
Mandeln und Zimt mischen und den
Eischnee unterheben. Backform mit
Butter fetten, Teig hineingeben und
bei 160 Grad eine Stunde backen.

dishes, olive oil production comprises
a significant part of the island’s food
industry. Companies like Es Verger, Oli
Son Catiu, Solivellas, Oli Caimari, Olis
Sóller, Aubocassa, Son Mir and Foners
are some of those who produce this
highly-prized liquid gold. The oils are
served up in prestigious restaurants,
hotels and rural tourism establishments, and are sold in gourmet shops
all over the island. But it isn’t only
here that they triumph – Mallorca’s
olive oil has moved beyond our frontiers and is gradually making a name
for itself on the international market.
For a Mallorcan oil to be Denomination
of Origin it has to be produced on the
island and contain the Mallorquina,
Arberquina and Picual olive varieties,
which have a different flavour and
appearance depending on whether
the olives are at an early stage or riper
when they are harvested. For a closeup look at these varieties, different

inda Breevaart. “Entertainment in hotels began around
35 years ago. Mallorca was
always a good setting to develop it. I lived in Holland and a friend
encouraged me to try out the experience here on the islands. Since I had
studied sport, I thought it might be interested, and that was how it all started.
Now I have my own company with over
40 entertainers. Nowadays the tendency
is to specialize in adults-only hotels, offer experiences like wine tasting sessions
and show cooking shows”.
Juan Álvarez. “We have progressed
from shows that used to target child
audiences to having our own shows.
This year we want to strengthen live
shows, and we are preparing a special
performance on film music. Entertainment is essential, because it makes
guests loyal to the hotel. An entertainer is a PR officer who is sticks by tourists for better or worse, accompanying
them on their holidays”.
Marnix Zwart. “Children don’t have
very much to do in hotels. Now they
are kept entertained nearly all day.
All the activities, for adults or children, have been professionalised, and
we have specialists in all areas of education and sport. What I like the most
is working with young people who
are eager and really strong, and also
having an international team where
there is always somebody new who
brings in a breath of fresh air”.

den Hotels wenige Aktivitäten für Kinder; heute sind sie praktisch den ganzen Tag beschäftigt. Die Professionalität

arbeiten in allen Bildungs- und Sportbereichen mit Experten. Am liebsten
arbeite ich mit jungen Leuten, die unternehmenslustig sind und viel Energie

beds, a 24-hour emergency service,

Patients are only sent to Palma in
extremely serious cases. We have
30 doctors, around 50 collaborating
specialists and in peak season, our
workforce goes up to 150.

alma City Council organises cultural routes to visit
the city’s most emblematic
houses and patios.
CAN BORDILS. (Calle de l’Almudaina,
9). It is one of the oldest ancestral
homes in Palma. It was built in the 13th
century, on remains from the Muslim
era. In the year 1554 the Sureda Zanglada family made alterations to the
house, where the arms they used for
some battles are still found.
CAN OLEZA. (Calle Morey, 9). This
house was built in the 16th century
by the Descós family. Two centuries
later it passed into the ownership of
Salvador Oleza y Sureda. The house is
in the Baroque style, and its majestic Mallorcan patio stands out for
the red marble pillars in Ionic style,
extremely rounded arches and some
wrought-iron stairs.
CAN MARQUÉS DEL PALMER. (Calle
Sol, 7). In 1556 Captain Pere Abri Descatlar constructed this ancestral
home which was subjected to numerous alterations in the 18th and 19th
centuries. Nowadays we can observe
a majestic garden with rounded
arches, a large entrance and interior
décor in Rococo style.
CAN MUNTANER. (Calle Caputxines,
11). A modest Mallorcan patio dating
back to the late 18th century. The main
doorway has a wooden door protected
by a flat arch. The pillars that support
it are decorated with figures of animals and fights between men.
CAL COMPTE DE MONTENEGRO.
(Calle Montenegro, 2). An old stately
home with a patio built in Gothic
style, but with numerous Baroque elements due to a renovation.

estilo jónico, arcos muy rebajados y
una escalera de hierro forjado.
CAN MARQUÉS DEL PALMER. (Calle
Sol, 7). En 1556 el capitán Pere Abri
- Descatlar construyó este casal que,
entre el siglo XVIII y XIX, fue víctima
de numerosas reformas. Ahora se observa un majestuoso jardín con arcos
rebajados, un gran recibidor y una
decoración interior de estilo rococó.
CAN MUNTANER. (Calle Caputxines,
11). Modesto patio mallorquín que
data de finales del siglo XVIII. El
portal principal tiene una puerta de
madera protegida por un arco adintelado. Las columnas que lo sustentan
cuentan con un decorado con figuras
de animales y luchas entre hombres.
CAL COMPTE DE MONTENEGRO.
(Calle Montenegro, 2). Antigua casa
señorial con un patio de construcción
gótica pero con numerosos elementos barrocos a causa de una reforma.

der schmiedeeisernen Treppe.
CAN MARQUÉS DEL PALMER. (Calle
Sol, 7). Das Haus wurde 1556 von
Kapitän Pere Abri – Descatlar gebaut; im XVIII und XIX wurden viele Umbauten durchgeführt. Innen
finden sich ein wunderhübscher
Garten mit tiefen Bögen sowie ein
riesiges Vestibül und Interieur im
Rokokko-Stil.

11). Hübscher mallorquinischer Innenhof vom Ende des XVIII Jahrhunderts. Das hölzerne Portal wird von
einem abgeflachten Bogen eingefasst, auf den Säulen finden sich
Tiermotive und Kampfszenen.
