Wir bei Smitten lieben den weitgereisten, lässigen Boho Style und schätzen
traditionelles Kunsthandwerk. Die schönsten Muster, Materialien und Farben
finden wir in fernen Ländern, vor allem Südamerika hat es uns angetan. Mit
allen Handwerkern vor Ort arbeiten wir fair und partnerschaftlich zusammen.
Zu vielen von ihnen bestehen langjährige Beziehungen, die beiden Seiten große
Freude bereiten.
We at Smitten love the well-travelled, casual Bohemian Style and appreciate
traditional craftsmanship. We find beautiful patterns, materials and colours in
countries afar and we are especially fascinated by South America. Over the
past few years, we have built close and fair relationships with our crafters that
are rewarding and fun for both sides.

Huipil Bags: Treasures of South America
Huipils sind robuste Blusen, die Indio-Frauen in Guatemala das ganze Jahr über
tragen und Ausdruck ihrer Tradition und Lebensweise sind. Wenn es um besondere
Anlässe geht, sind die Huipils besonders prachtvoll gewebt und bestickt. Die symbolträchtigen grafischen und floralen Mustern erzählen die Geschichte iher ethnischen Gruppe und Region.
Ein gewaschener Canvas aus einer italienischen Weberei und hochwertige Lederhenkel setzten die Huipils perfekt in Szene. Niedliche Ethno-Fransen runden das
Bild ab. Alles wird in liebevoller Handarbeit zusammengefügt, zu einer wertvollen
Original Huipil Bag.
Huipils are rugged blouses worn year-round by Indio women that reflect their traditions and way of life. For special occasions the huipils are woven and embroidered
with gorgeous motifs and colours. The graphic and floral patterns tell stories of
their ethnic heritage and regions.
A washed canvas from an Italian weaving mill and high-quality leather handles set
the stage for the gorgeous Huipils. The ethno fringes are a charming addition. All
materials are put together by hand with great love for detail into an unique and
original Huipil Bag.

Original ethnic patterns from Guatemala are worn as casual necklaces and bracelets. A harmonious colouring and details like fine silver elements and beaded
borders make these pieces very special.
Kutula Kiss by Smitten
Die Handwerkerinnen von Kutula Kiss fertigen fein-ste Armbänder, nach den
alten Traditionen Kolumbiens. Zierliche Webereien aus bis zu 80 Fäden, feine
Glasperlen, 925er Silber-Elemente, Swarovski-Steine und die traditionellen Muster ihres Landes sind Inspiration und Elemente ihrer kleinen Kunstwerke.
The crafters of Kutula Kiss are producing the finest and most intricate bracelets
following Colombian‘s traditions. Delicate weavings made out of up to 80 threads,
fine glass beads, 925 silver, Swarowski beads and the traditional patterns are the
elements and inspirations for these little masterpieces.

The Spirit of South America
Wir lieben die farbenprächtigen Muster und starken Materialien Südamerikas!
Robuste Andenwolle wird zu plastischen Motiven gestickt. Aus den typischen
Indio-Decken werden Gürtel mit Western-Touch und die Webkunst Guatemalas
bringt einzigartige Perlengürtel hervor.
Besonders aufwendig sind die Borten aus geknoteten Mustern, die zu den
Trachten der Frauen in Südamerika gehören. Mit zarten Nieten und edlem
Leder in der Frontpartie sind diese Puebla-Gürtel wertvolle Einzelstücke und
echte Hingucker.
We love the gorgeous and colorful patterns and materials of South America!
Sturdy wool from the Andes are knitted into three-dimensional motifs. The typical
Indio blankets are made into belts with a South-Western touch. The intricate art
of bead-weaving from Guatemala are shown on our unique beaded belts.
Especially elaborate are the knotted belts, that are used in traditional SouthAmerican costums. Finished with rivets and fine leather, these Puebla belts are
made into sophisticated and precious eye-catchers.

Anfang 2015 haben wir das Projekt „Pia Charity Gürtel“ ins Leben gerufen: Ein Herzenswunsch unserer Handwerkerinnen in
Peru ist es, ihre Gemeinschafts-Ecke in ihrem Workshop, inkl. Kochgelegenheit und Spielsachen, für die Kinder zu erweiteren.
Mit dem Kauf eines Kindergürtels Pia wird dieser Plan unmittelbar unterstützt, der komplette Reinerlös kommt direkt unserer
Handwerker-Gruppe in Peru zugute. Wir sagen mit ihnen zusammen aus vollem Herzen: Gracias!
