Preset Method
The 3900 GC uses a Preset Method compatible
with light hydrocarbon samples (C-14, C-15, and
C-16 such as found in the FID and TCD Test Mix).
The preset conditions on power-up are:
Injector =140 ºC
Split ratio set to 50
Flow rate set to 2 mL/min
Column oven set to 80 ºC for 0.5 minutes
ramping to 160 ºC at 20 ºC/min and holding
for 2 minutes
Detector set to 200 ºC
Inject the Test Mix
1. Make certain an appropriate column is installed.
2. Make certain the correct gasses are connected and
turned on.
3. Ensure the GC is powered up and the Star
Workstation or a data acquisition system is
connected.
4. Perform an Inject Single Sample action if you are
using the Star Workstation, or wait for the data
system to be ready to acquire data.
5. Finally, make your injection.
Modify the Preset Method if the conditions are not appropriate for your sample.
To return to preset conditions, press the COMMAND key on the keypad and select
Preset Method.
