«First» «Last» «Street1» «City», «State» «Zip» Dear «First», You recently received a letter stating that you have been academically dismissed from Western Michigan University and that you are not eligible for readmission until the Spring 2015 semester. After reviewing your record, we believe that you have the ability to succeed at WMU and recognize that the grades you earned during your first year may not reflect your academic potential. As such, we are offering you the opportunity to return to Western Michigan University this fall under the Reclaim the W program. The Reclaim the W program is designed to promote academic improvement and provide support for increased achievement at Western Michigan University. Restoring your gpa to good standing will require dedication, hard work, and effort on your part. If you are committed to this, and agree to the conditions outlined in the enclosed contract, we are committed to helping you. If you are interested in participating in the Reclaim the W program during the Fall 2014 semester you must: Sign the Reclaim the W contract. Write a 500 word essay explaining the factors that led to your academic dismissal and the steps you will take to ensure future academic success. Send the signed contract and essay to the Registrar’s Office no later than June 15, 2014. Once the contract and essay are received, you will be readmitted and eligible to attend the fall semester. Any courses you have registered for the fall semester will not be dropped, but your schedule may be adjusted by your academic advisor. Your ability to attend the Spring 2015 semester will be contingent on successful completion of the requirements outlined in the contract. As a University we are committed to student success and we are here to help you reach your educational goals. We hope that you will consider participating in the Reclaim the W program and look forward to working with you to get back on track academically to earn your WMU degree. If you have any questions regarding the Reclaim the W program, please contact Dr. Randy Ott, Director of the Center for Academic Success Programs, at (269) 387-4413 or by email at [email protected]. Sincerely, Carrie Cumming Registrar
