From the Senior Principal…
Today we come to the end of our first year at EtonHouse Prep school. This week the children and teachers
have been reminiscing about all the wonderful highlights that have happened this year. What an adventurous year it has been.
I would like to thank all the people involved in our school community for helping to get the school to where
we are today, a fun and successful learning environment for our children—the wonderfully dedicated staff,
the supportive parents and our excellent support staff. Our Directors, Nigel and Angela Venning, and myself
are excited about the year ahead and know that we will continue along the wonderful learning pathway
we all set in place this time last year.
I would like to acknowledge the staff we have leaving and wish them all the best for their next professional
challenges—James Newling-Ward, Ruth Field, Mayra da Rocha, Karen Song and Hanna Jang. Thank you
for the time you have spent with us at EHPS.
Have a wonderful holiday everyone and I hope children and teachers come back revived and refreshed,
ready to start another great learning year at EHPS

This Month
Early Year Music Concert
The early years children did a fantastic job at the recent Early
Years’ Variety Show held on Tuesday June 17. This was a fun
event where children sang and danced to their favourite songs
that they learned throughout the year. Highlights included Prenursery’s rendition of the Monkey Dance, Pre-nursery’s
(Butterflies) action song the Cookie Crumble, Nursery’s Walking in
the Jungle and the grand finale with all the students singing and
dancing to the popular Hot Potato. We especially enjoyed hearing Nursery children share their favourite learning moments from
the year. All of the parents were impressed and proud that their
children performed to such a high standard. Donations from the
show will go towards the Love North Korean Children’s Charity.
Combined Schools Music Festival
Children from Reception to Year 3 assembled last Friday June
27 at the EtonHouse Bundang performance hall for their first
summer Music Festival. This exciting event was a collaboration
between EtonHouse Seoul and EtonHouse Bundang children.
The Choir was the main attraction that dazzled the audience
with a wide variety of songs, including some challenging repertoire such as Adele’s Someone Like You and the children’s favourite song Let It Go from the very popular movie Frozen.
Highlights also included some instrumental solos and duets, a
vocal solo and a strong performance by the Musical Theatre
children who performed The Toy Shop. The Choir finished the
concert and wowed the audience with the song Yellow Submarine, particularly when the children sang the last chorus in Korean. The crowd cheered and even sang along with the singers.
The proceeds from the concert will go towards the Love North
Korean Children’s Charity.

Renovations
School Assemblies
During the school holidays we will be doing some small
renovations to the school. We are growing bigger and
need to accommodate everyone's needs. The Shark
Nursery classroom will be divided into two smaller PreNursery classes for the new year. There will be a movable wall between the two classes so it can either be one
or two rooms. They will often work together in this new
space. Both classes will have doors out onto the outside
play area. We will also be turning Duckling Pre-Nursery
class into an inside play and sensory area for the PreNursery and Nursery children. It will be a fabulous space
for learning.
Thursday 3rd July: Last Staff Assembly
Reminders
Mr. Newling-Ward led a great assembly on Thursday. The
children were given watermelon seeds and asked what a
seed needed to grow into something larger. They came
up with great ideas, soil, water and sunlight. Mr.
Newling-Ward talked about nurturing something small to
grow into something big. He used this as an analogy for
the growth of EHPS this year with everyone helping to
nurture it and grow it from the small start back in September 2013 to the great wee school we have today.
The children even got to eat watermelon after the assembly.

Friday 4th July: Final School Assembly
Today we had our final assembly. It was a happy time
and a slightly sad time. We celebrated the successes of
the children, had a great time singing and sharing things
The children should wear their own clothes for summer
camp, not the school uniform. Please don’t let them
wear their good clothes as they are likely to get them
dirty. They will be given a summer camp t-shirt to wear
on the weekly field trips.

We look forward to seeing all our returnees on the first
day of school, happy, healthy and refreshed, after a lovely holiday and fun Summer camp.
Please make sure the children arrive on time to start the
day. Late children are often unsettled and confused. The
beginning of each school day is very important to settle
children into the day ahead, go over the expectations
and the schedule.
we had made. Then we said goodbye to some of our
teachers and students. It will be sad for us to see some
people leave us but we wish them lots of happiness in
their new adventures.
