Mr. Jonathan Roman, Guidance Counselor, the 2014

Mr. Jonathan Roman, Guidance Counselor, the 2014-2015 Morris Hills
High School Outstanding Educational Services Professional, is referred to
by his colleagues as “a very visible and dedicated member of the Morris
Hills High School staff and takes an active interest in the lives of each of his
students.” Another colleague states: “Mr. Roman has made contributions to
the Morris Hills High School community that go far above and beyond the
scope of his primary role in the Guidance Department.” Mr. Roman truly has
a sincere commitment to education and to his students. He approaches
each day and everything he does with much energy – leading and guiding
all of his counselees.
Mr. Roman displays an incredible amount of passion and a refreshing
viewpoint as he faces the many challenges found in the Guidance Office.
He is trustworthy, reliable, ethical, visible, approachable, and as a result of
his efforts, is highly respected by his students, his athletes, his colleagues,
and his administrators. A supportive and dedicated colleague, Mr. Roman
is always willing to help another colleague in need. He is an early arriver to
Morris Hills High School and one of the last staff members to leave the
building at the conclusion of the school day.
Mr. Roman serves as the AVID 11 counselor. As our AVID 11 students
transition to AP and Honors level coursework, Mr. Roman has worked
tirelessly with our AVID teachers to prepare college readiness lessons that
have assisted our AVID students in setting realistic post-secondary goals.
Mr. Roman is a true professional who has been supportive, compassionate,
and devoted to all of his AVID students and the AVID Program. Attending
AVID field trips, college visits, and site team meetings, Mr. Roman’s high
expectations for his students and his commitment to the AVID Program is
evident.
Mr. Roman inspires all of his students to become more confident,
capable, and productive learners. He meticulously assists students with
their college searches and the college application process. He is in
constant communication with parents and teachers, informing them of
student concerns. He is a constant presence at Morris Hills High School
and is an all-around exceptional member of the Morris Hills High School
faculty. Mr. Roman leads by example and is a role model for our students.
Mr. Roman’s contributions to Morris Hills High School extend far
beyond the Guidance Office. He has become a tremendous asset to the
overall culture of the high school. He attends several athletic and extracurricular events outside of the school day to support his students. Mr.
Roman serves as the JV boys’ soccer coach. During his tenure at Morris
Hills High School, Mr. Roman has also served the Athletic Department
acting as a site manager.
We are privileged to honor Mr. Roman as this year’s Outstanding
Educational Specialist and work with him on a daily basis. Our sincere
congratulations and thanks to Mr. Roman on behalf of the entire faculty and
administration for all of his contributions to the culture and community of
Morris Hills High School.
