Welcome Neighbor: Sharing Cultural Art Traditions
They left their native homelands to escape religious
persecution, political unrest, oppression, economic hardship
and famine, among other reasons. At times, sadly having no
choice but to leave loved ones behind. They endured unfamiliar
and dangerous conditions in passage, but courageously
remained steadfast and undaunted in their desperate quest for a
new life and freedom.
In Commemorating the 350th Anniversary of New Jersey, and
recognizing the many diverse ethnic groups that have made
New Jersey their home through the years, the Somerset County
Cultural & Heritage Commission welcomes the public to this
celebratory art exhibition rich in indigenous art traditions by
talented NJ artists who have enriched our lives and our
communities statewide by sharing their heritage through their
indigenous art traditions.
