Resume Workshop - January 13
In order to help you fine tune your application materials for PI/PS
day, Career Services is holding a resume and cover letter workshop on
Tuesday, January 13th from noon to 1 in Room 2302. Please
bring your resume and cover letter in electronic or hard copy format
to the workshop. Alternatively, you are welcome to send your resume

PI/PS Day - Saturday, January 31, 2015
Each year, OneJustice and nine Northern California law schools
(including UC Davis School of Law) bring together more than 100
public interest and government employers and about 600 law
students for the Northern California Public Interest/Public
Sector Career Day (PI/PS Day) at UC Hastings College of the
Law in San Francisco. PI/PS Day has two components, formal
interviews and networking (Table Talk). Public interest organizations
and government agencies conduct formal interviews for summer
internships and post-graduate positions. First, second, and third year
students are eligible for this job fair.
Dec. 11: All Davis law students received an email from [email protected] access (username and password) and
instructions to the PI/PS Day Symplicity system. You may begin
reviewing PI/PS Day job postings but not yet bid/apply. The full
timeline for PI/PS Day is included in the email sent from OneJustice.

Peggy Browning Fellowship Application Deadline - January 16

United States and one 2015-2016 School-Year Fellowship - funded part-time position in Chicago available

Spring OCI 2015 Bidding Deadlines by Session
The Spring On-Campus Interview Program (OCI) has two components; on-campus interviews and
resume collections. OCI offers public interest organizations, government agencies, and law firms an
opportunity to interview first and second year students for summer positions and third year students for
post-graduate positions. Further details about Spring OCI have been sent to you in a separate
email.

Sacramento County Bar Association (SCBA) Diversity Fellowship
Application Deadline Approaching - January 16, 2015
The Sacramento County Bar Association Diversity Fellowship Application for Summer of 2015 is
currently available in the Symplicity document library. Symplicity ID #346870. This is a fantastic
opportunity for King Hall 1Ls to work in a law firm their first summer and gain exposure to law firm
culture as well as develop skills and make professional contacts for the future. These are PAID positions.
Submit two hardcopies of your application and resume to the UC Davis Career Services
Office no later than 5:00 PM, Friday, January 16, 2015. Late applications will not be
accepted.
We strongly encourage all eligible 1Ls to apply. For any questions about the fellowship or application

United States Air Force Judge Advocate General's Corps Summer 2015
The Air Force Judge Advocate General 's Corps is currently seeking applications for their Summer 2015
Externship Program. Externs for the United States Air Force JAG Corps work in either a base legal office
or in the national capital region.
Description of Duties
As an extern, you will work under attorney supervision in numerous practice area of the JAG Corps
including:
Preparing criminal and civil cases by conducting legal research, writing briefs and opinions,
conducting investigations and interviewing witnesses
Assisting attorneys who counsel and represent Airmen, their family members and retirees in
personal legal matters in areas such as family law, estate planning, landlord-tenant law, tax,
bankruptcy, immigration and naturalization law and military administrative law
Supporting attorneys in other areas, such as federal tort claims, government procurement law,
employment law, international law, environmental law and operational law
Requirements
U.S. Citizen (birth or naturalization)
1L or 2L at an ABA Approved Law School (at the time of application)
Able to obtain law school credit for your externship through your school
Serve 8-10 weeks during the summer
How to Apply
Applications should be submitted to Air Force Judge Advocate General, Professional Development
Directorate at the address below. The externship application will be posted starting in December 2104
and we will accept applications through 27 January 2015. The externship position will allow you to obtain
credit towards graduation, but is not a paid position. If you have any questions, please call 1 800

Funding Opportunities for Legal Services Work
The Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps JD program provides law students with the opportunity to earn a
$1,212 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award for dedicating 300 hours of service to a qualifying legal
project with a nonprofit program or other qualifying organization.
Students serving in the priority areas defined below may apply now through Friday,
February 6, 2015.
Your 300 service hours can be completed anytime from when your application is accepted and your
background check has been initiated through August 31, 2015.
Equal Justice Works will also accept applications beginning in late February from students who provide
service during summer 2015 to low-income communities outside of the specified priority areas. More
details to come.
SERVICE OVERVIEW
PRIORITY AREAS:
The application is now open for students who serve veterans, military families or victims of disasters, or
who focus on removing barriers to employment or housing.
Removing barriers to employment or housing can include sealing, expunging, and/or correcting criminal
records; correcting credit reports; helping clients to obtain occupational licenses; restoring driver's
licenses that are necessary for work; and/or other applicable services focusing on legal barriers to
employment or housing.
Some more examples of the type of work students can do within these priority areas include:
Direct legal services: intake, legal form preparation, performing client and witness interviews,
advocating for clients by telephone and in person, attending hearings, assisting attorneys in legal
representation, carrying out legal research and writing
Outreach and education: developing and distributing fact sheets, developing and delivering
training on legal topics or on how to access legal services, ensuring potential clients are aware of
their rights and available services
Capacity building: activities which build the capacity of your host organization or other
organizations to provide services in the previously specified priority areas, such as an
organizational assessment, compiling best practices, organizing focus groups, leading planning
committees
The AmeriCorps program, under the Corporation for National and Community Service, has a list of
prohibited activities that cannot be included in the hours of service completed to earn the Segal
AmeriCorps Education Award. A list of these activities can be found here.
REQUIREMENTS
Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national or Lawful Permanent Resident of the United States
Secure a placement with a host organization prior to submitting application
Agree to criminal background checks during application
Serve in any nonprofit within the U.S.
Supervised by licensed attorney
Have received less than two full Segal Education Awards for any prior AmeriCorps service
Not receive more than $4,300 in outside funding for service hours at your organization
Complete 300 hours of service by August 31, 2015 (all hours must be with one organization)

California State Bar Real Property Law Section Journal - Law Student
Writing Competition
The California State Bar Real Property Law Section ("RPLS") and the RPLS Journal Committee
are proud to announce the inaugural RPLS Journal Law Student Writing Competition open to all
California law students. The California Real Property Journal ("Journal") is the official
publication of the RPLS. The Journal is sent free to members of the RPLS, has been described
as "the flagship of State Bar publications" and is an invaluable resource for the real property
practitioner. Rules and information can be found here.
Deadline - the article must be submitted to the RPLS Journal Editorial Board via e-mail
([email protected]) by 5:00 p.m. on February 13, 2015. LATE SUBMISSIONS
WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
Prize - the author of the winning article will receive:
· His/her article published in the RPLS Journal 2015 third quarter issue.
· Recognition and a plaque at the RPLS Retreat, to be held at the Park Hyatt
Aviara in San Diego, California on April 30-May 3, 2015. The award ceremony
will take place the morning of Saturday, May 2, 2015.
