January 2015 Service Change
Effective Sunday, January 4, 2015, RT will implement the following service change:
Route 28: Fair Oaks – Mather Field/Mills
(Weekday Route Change)
Route 28 service on Main Street and California Avenue will be discontinued. Passengers
are advised to use the bus stop located on Fair Oaks Boulevard at California Avenue. Bus
service will continue on Fair Oaks Boulevard through the Fair Oaks Village.
Meadowview Road Closure
Friday, January 16 (8 p.m.) through Monday, January 26 (5 a.m.)
Construction activities related to RT’s Blue Line to Cosumnes River College light rail
extension project will require a complete closure of Meadowview Road between Detroit
Boulevard and Brookfield Drive (at the Union Pacific Railroad tracks) beginning at 8 p.m. on
Friday, January 16, 2015, and continuing until 5 a.m. on Monday, January 26, 2015.
RT’s contractor will be installing light rail tracks across Meadowview Road. The main detour
will be 24th Street to Florin Road to Franklin Boulevard, and vice versa. Motorists can also
use Freeport Boulevard or Center Parkway to travel to Florin Road during the closure. Visit

16th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration
Dinner
RT is a proud sponsor of the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Dinner, which
symbolizes the principles of freedom, unity and diversity that highlighted the life of Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr.
The event will be held on Saturday, January 31 at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento.
Kenneth B. Morris Jr., founder and president of the Frederick Douglass Family Initiatives,
and a descendant of two of the most important names in American history: Frederick
Douglass and Booker T. Washington, will serve as the keynote speaker.
The celebration dinner was co-founded by Dr. Dorothy Enomoto who was a classmate and
close friend of Dr. King. Their friendship, sealed by sharing valedictorian honors at Booker T.
Washington Senior High School in Atlanta, continued through the remainder of King’s life. All
proceeds from the dinner fund the MLK Committee grant program.

TransitAction Awards Open for Nominations
RT TransitAction Awards for transit excellence will be presented during the Sacramento
Metro Chamber’s 2015 State of RT Breakfast on Thursday, March 26 at the Hyatt Regency
Sacramento. These annual awards recognize efforts in support of transit and honor selected
nominees that have made a significant and positive impact to public transit in the
Sacramento region.
The TransitAction Awards offer an opportunity to highlight incredible contributions, and
recipients will be recognized among elected officials, business leaders, community members
and transit advocates in the Sacramento region.
RT is now calling for nominations. Nominations for the TransitAction Awards can be
submitted for the following categories:
• Business of the Year
• Organization/Agency of the Year
• Transit Oriented Development of the Year
• Elected Official of the Year
• Individual/Transit Advocate of the Year
All nominations must be submitted no later than Friday, February 6, 2015. For more

34th Annual Capitol March for the Dream
Each year, thousands of local residents take to the streets of Sacramento to honor one of
America’s great leaders and remember the sacrifices made by pioneers of the American Civil
Rights Movement during the annual Capitol March for the Dream and Diversity Expo at the
Sacramento Convention Center.
The Capitol March will depart at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 19 from
Sacramento City College. Marchers will then make their way past the west steps of the State
Capitol and on to the Sacramento Convention Center where the celebration will continue.
Travel with RT employees as they participate in the march and remember to stop by the RT
booth during the Diversity Expo, where RT’s “Old Blue” historic bus will be on display.
The event will include four hours of interactive fun, featuring a multicultural talent showcase,
a dramatic arts ensemble, a poetry/wisdom corner, and employment, health and education
vendors.
RT will provide supplemental bus service from the Sacramento Convention Center on J
Street back to Sacramento City College and Grant Union High School for attendees who
participated in the march.
