How to revise
Look at the ‘How to Revise’ sheets created by Mr Parsons (attached). These all apply to
History. However, remember History is not all facts. You need to empathise and form an
opinion and be able to support it. This is essential if you want a high mark.
ALSO LEARN YOUR ‘MUST KNOW DATES’ SHEET
EVIDENCE QUESTION
It is essential that you regularly go through your advice sheets and the Galore Park
booklet. These remind you how to go about the question and analyse sources.
Remember introduction and refer to the question, Analyse sources in relation to
the question and note the significance of provenance. Own knowledge paragraph
essential and then conclusion.
ESSAY
Answered like an English essay but you must explain and describe. Opinion
backed up by evidence is important. A narrative on its own will get 50% max.
Look very closely at the question so you do not misinterpret it. It is worth 60%.
Look at your advice booklet. Sample answers are given.

RESOURCES
You have 3 textbooks. Look at the questions at the end of chapters. Can you
answer them? The SYRWTLH book has lots of ‘fill in the missing word’
questions. Do these.
You also have the printed notes in your exercise book and file.
Vary your revision. Use the internet occasionally so you can find out something
different. Always put Key Stage 3 into the search engine. For example “The
Feudal System. Key Stage 3” “Thomas Becket Key Stage 3”
Supporting Activities included
Use the revision questions after each chapter of “Invasion Plague and Murder” and SYRWTL
