Report from the Contest Director The contest challenges students, working in three-person teams, to rely on their programming skills and creativity during a five-hour battle of logic, strategy, and mental endurance. Students solve complex problems using both traditional and new software development tools. Out of 551 teams participated in the online contest held on November 01, 2014. We selected 90 teams for the onsite contest which was held at ABV IITM Gwalior on December 21, 2014. Compositions of these teams are as follows: No. of Teams Onsite Contest North 31 South 21 Male 264 East 18 Female 04 West 19 Foreign 1 Total 90 Total 268 I am proud to inform you that the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest [Asia Region Gwalior Site] was conducted successfully at the ABV IIITM Gwalior (India). It is a matter of great honor to be able to host this contest for the sixteenthtime in a row.This successful event was largely due to the wonderful teamwork of ABV IITM Gwalior. Teams started arriving on the campus from December 19, 2014afternoon onwards with lot of hopes, ideas and enthusiasm. On December 20, 2014, Professor Joydeep Dhar, In charge of Operations ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest [Asia Region Gwalior Site] welcomed all the contestants for this mega event. Professor Anupam Shukla, Associate Director, ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest [Asia Region Gwalior Site]talked about the ACM ICPC at ABV IITM Gwalior. There was a key-note speech delivered by thedistinguish speaker, Mr. Anoop Kalbalia, Directi. He discussed about the how programming practice can be improved in India. To enable contestants to become familiar with the environment, on December 20, 2014 we had a practice session, which started at 6:30 PM and continued till 7:30 PM. On December 21, 2014 the contest began at 10:00 AM. It was of five hours duration. There were 12 problems. Results were declared on December 21, 2014 at 6PM by Prof. Anupam Shukla, ABV IITM Gwalior and Professor Joydeep Dhar, ABV IITM Gwalior. We are glad to announce that team Believe from IIIT Hyderabad is the Winner of the Contest. The team could solve10 out of 12 problems with 1062 penalty points. Team Code Templars from IIT Bombay has become the runner-up with1082 penalty points. They solved 9 problems. 1|Page of 2 There are 4 more teams who could solve 9 problems while 2 teams could solve 8 problems. There are 9 teams who solve 7 problems. Further, there are 80 teams who could solve at least one problem. Results are available on our web site www.icpcgwalior.org The Contest provided a platform where our future programmers, professionals, industries and government organizations worked together. It would have been impossible to organize this event without the wonderful support I received from everyone. My grateful thanks to all the contestants, coaches, all team members of Directi, ACM contest organizers, the ABV IITM Gwalior administration, IIT Kanpur department colleagues, my working committees, volunteers, service providers, and a lot of people who helped from both within and outside the Institute.
