Tracking your money will give you direction on how much income is coming in and what is being spent on expenses. This is helpful to identify where you might have room to save. Save-Being a smart saver helps to create a rainy day or emergency fund. The recommended goal is six months of your income. Set a goal to save 10 percent of your wages for retirement. Take control of your 401K/Defined contribution plan–Most of us are unaware of how to take advantage of all our plans have to offer. Take time to visit with a financial planner at least annually to review your contributions and investment options. Manage your Debt-Student loans, credit cards, there are so many ways to get into debt. Financial literacy programs can help to identify debt problems and provide solutions to help you get out from under too much debt. Build Peace of Mind-Financial Literacy and planning helps to reduce stress caused by the unknown. It builds confidence knowing you have planned for your future.
