to the 2015 NWSS Mile High Classic,
The Red Angus world has been an amazing place the last couple of years with steady and fast-paced
growth of both members and cattle registrations. In a time that many beef breeds have struggled
and declined, Red Angus have become one of the major breeds in North America today. Cattleman have
come to realize that fertility, disposition, milk/maternal traits, feed efficiency, RED hided heat tolerance
and calf carcass qualities are essential building blocks for a beef cow herd. As the nation begins to rebuild
its cattle numbers from the catastrophic droughts of 2010 – 2012, the added advantage of a red hide for
heat tolerance is essential to compete in a changing world. If you haven’t yet experienced this incredibly
“producer friendly” breed of cattle, please join us in Denver for the Red Angus Mile High Classic.
The Mile High Classic is the “grand daddy of ‘em all” when it comes to Red Angus auctions and
this year’s event will be no exception. The consignors to this auction have assembled an elite set of
females, several industry leading bulls, and increased frozen embryo and semen packages for your ease
of transportation. Please feel free to contact any of the breeders listed in this catalog for more detailed
information on their consignments. As always, Randy Lathrop / Lathrop Trucking will be available in Denver
to ship your cattle anywhere in the world.
After several years of managing and selling this auction, we have some fresh changes for 2015. Jered
Shipman and his auction team of Cattle In Demand are joining us for this grand event. With increased
schedule demands and a need for some new energetic salesmanship, please help me welcome this highly

All animals are eligible for interstate shipment. Interstate health papers
prepared by an accredited veterinarian will be furnished on each animal
sold. Arrangements for International Shipment should be made with the
sale manager prior to the auction. All efforts for the exportation of cattle
can be arranged through the sale manager.
The above terms and conditions of sale shall constitute a contract
between the buyer and seller of each animal and shall be equally binding

Badlands Opportunity 53Y is the astounding bull that is captivating Red Angus breeders across the globe.
His EPD stats are beyond phenomenal with a top 1% Gridmaster, top 1% WW, top 1% YW, top 1% CW, top 8% MARB and top 33% REA!
It all started as a yearling with individual stats of: BW 72 lbs. ratio 82; WW 892 lbs. ratio 134;YW 1459 lbs. ratio 123; IMF 3.99 ratio 115 and REA 15.91 ratio 122.
He was the high selling bull in the 2012 Badlands Bull Sale at $35,000.00, going to Vulture Acres (ND), Paul Fehrman Family (MN) and Star G Ranch, Inc. (IA & OK).
With spring pasture rights owned by Vulture Acres in North Dakota and fall pasture rights owned by Star G Ranch of Iowa and Oklahoma, Opportunity has been put to
work extensively since he was a yearling. Most impressive may be his ability to freeze semen at 14 months of age and then go out and breed cows in a double season for
the past three years. He is a prolific breeder covering cows with a 95+% success rate. While his birth weights have varied from Northern to Midwestern environments,
at the Star G Ranch, he was used on first calf heifers with a 70.3 lb average birth weight in 2013 and a 79.3 lb average birth weight in 2014 with no assists in either year !
As a sire, he has had the unique ability to dominate both bull and heifer progeny groups and to sire consistent calves that have rarely been culled from any of the three
