Governing body meeting - Tuesday 13th January 2015 Hammersmith and Fulham’s governing body will meet on Tuesday 13th January 2015 from 3pm until 5pm. The meeting will take place in St Paul’s Church, Hammersmith, on Queen Caroline Street, London W6 9PJ. The meeting will cover a number of topics, including: - Primary care co-commissioning - Wheelchair procurement - Safeguarding children and adults annual report The agenda and meeting papers are available here. New Chief Officer Clare Parker was last month confirmed as the new Chief Accountable Officer of the North West London Collaboration of CCGs. Clare has previously held the roles of Deputy Accountable Officer and Chief Hammersmith and Fulham CCG stakeholder newsletter - January 2015 Finance Officer of CWHHE Clinical Commissioning Groups. Clare’s background is in finance, as a CIPFA-qualified accountant who trained with the Audit Commission. She moved into the NHS 13 years ago. A&E pressures You will no doubt have seen recent media coverage about the pressures A&Es are currently facing nationally. The A&Es in North West London are no exception to this, although this is not unusual at this time of year. The hospital trusts have plans in place to deal with the demand and patient safety is not affected. Pan-NW London monitoring arrangements are in place and we are working with colleagues across the system to manage peaks in demand and performance. This has enabled surges to be managed and any necessary action to be taken quickly with involvement from key stakeholders. A reminder that there are five GP surgeries open across Hammersmith and Fulham at the weekend. Right care campaign launched The North West London Collaboration of CCGs has launched a campaign to encourage residents to use their NHS wisely. The campaign reminds North West London residents that there is a wide range of healthcare services available to them, and they can get better quickly if they choose the right care for their need. People are being reminded that minor illnesses and injuries can often be treated through self-care, and that you can see a pharmacist without the need for an Hammersmith and Fulham CCG stakeholder newsletter - January 2015 appointment. The campaign also highlights that 111 is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and that patients in the borough are able to see a GP at weekends. A website, www.rightcarenwlondon.nhs.uk, has also been developed to help people make the right choice for their need. Over the next few weeks and months, campaign messages will appear in GP practices, on newspaper websites, on buses and at bus shelters across North West London. Joint children and adult safeguarding annual report published Hammersmith and Fulham's CCG's safeguarding team has published its first joint safeguarding adults and children annual report. CCGs, as commissioners of services, have a duty to make arrangements to ensure that their functions are discharged with regard to the need to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. Hammersmith and Fulham CCG works collaboratively with Hounslow, West London, Central London and Ealing CCGs to ensure that safeguarding children and adults arrangements across the CCGs are robust and that statutory obligations are being met. Ebola and strengthening infection prevention and control Hammersmith and Fulham CCG, along with the other four CCGs in the CWHHE collaborative, (Hounslow, West London, Central London, and Ealing), has taken steps to strengthen infection prevention and control. Providers' infection prevention teams have been reminded that they are required to produce a quarterly report against KPIs to be reviewed by the CCG’s Clinical Quality Group, and the Trusts have given assurance that they are fully prepared for dealing with outbreaks of the Ebola virus. It is highly unlikely that UK residents would contract the Ebola virus but anyone with questions or concerns should visit the Public Health England website.
