Border Road Organization would soon recruit engineers from
Arunachal Pradesh for projects undertaken in the state. This was
revealed by Director General of Border Roads Organization Lt.
General Rakesh Mohan Mittal who called on Chief Minister Nabam
Tuki at his official Bungalow this evening. The Director General
informed that all road projects taken up by BRO in the state have
taken momentum and the works are being executed speedily. The
Officer took up issues on security of BRO officers in the far flung
road site areas, shortage of construction materials and land
acquisition matters. The CM assured to extend all possible support
to BRO. The meeting was also attended by the Chief Secretary
among others.
The State Bharatiya Janata Party has alleged that Aditya
Diagnostics & Hospitals based in Dibrugarh, Assam, an empanelled
hospital of the state has temporarily suspended medical services to
card holders of Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister’s Universal Health
Insurance Scheme (APCMUHIS) since January 13 last over nonclearance of payment. The party termed it as a blot in the much
touted ambitious plan. The concerned hospital has stated that
despite repeated requests of outstanding payments of 60 lakhs
rupees till January 5 this month, only a lump sum payment of 15
lakhs has been cleared till date.
The Arunachal Students’ Federation (ASF) in a letter to
Minister of Power (Electrical) has demanded stoppage of
installation of prepaid metering system in the State. Serving a
seven-day ultimatum to the government, it also demanded the
department to collect all the pending dues from the government
departments, private companies and business establishments
before installing the pre-paid meter. Meanwhile, Itanagar Market
Welfare Association will also organize a rally on January 23 next
against the pre-paid meter system.
China has reacted sharply to Japanese Foreign Minister's
remarks about Arunachal Pradesh being part of India, saying it is
"seriously concerned" and has lodged a protest with Japan
demanding a clarification. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman
Hong Lei was briefing the media while replying to a question on
Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida's comments in New Delhi
last week
The Longding District Students Union has opposed the
imposition of section 144 Cr.PC for two months in Longding
district. The Student Union alleged that it was illegal and intended
to prevent the proposed dharna of the Union in protest against the
lack of administration in the district.
Indian Oil Corporation Limited is observing the Oil and Gas
Conservation Fortnight (OGCF 2015) with the theme “Indhan
Bachao Jan Dhan Badhao” from January 16 to 31 next.
Parliamentary Secretary, Food and Civil Supplies, Legal Metrology
& Consumer Affairs Er Markio Tado inaugurated the OGC Fortnight
at Itanagar on January 17 last.
Centre with potential for Excellence in Biodiversity, Rajiv
Gandhi University (RGU), Doimukh, organized an awareness
programme on ecological values of birds, bird watching and
identification technique at Govt. Secondary School Rani, Pasighat,
to lure young students towards bird watching and conservation of
birds as part of their efforts to create awareness on conservation
of bio-resources in the state.
In a whirlwind tour to East Siang and Lower Dibang Valley to
take stock of upcoming, ongoing and existing tourism
infrastructures, Director Tourism Karma Leki visited Pasighat,
Mebo and Dambuk. Leki said the purpose of constructing tourist
infrastructures must be achieved at any cost. He said this in
reference to abandoned and tourist infrastructures in the district .
The 2nd edition of CM’s Trophy on Football & Volleyball for both
Men & Women which was inaugurated on 16th Jan last in Khonsa,
concluded today. The Valedictory function was attended by ZPM,
Khela-Lamsa Anchal Block Santung Lowang who gave away the
trophies to the winners. The District Level CM’s Trophy will be
conducted at Deomali from 29th to 31st January next.
The Nyishi Baptist Church Council, Youth Department
organized the 1st NBCC level youth sports and cultural meet in
Naharlagun from 13th to 16th January last. A large number of
youths from Nyishi inhabited districts participated in the
event. Minister for Tourism, UD and Art and Culture, Pema Khandu
along with Parliamentary Secretaries Likha Saaya and Bamang
Felix among others joined the celebration.
All Nyishi Unemployed Youth Organization (ANUYO) has
appealed the Circle Officer, Banderdewa for immediate ban on
playing of dice (gambling) in the melas being set up at
Banderdewa area. The organization claimed that open gambling is
affecting the lives of many people as they are losing their hard
earned money.
Public sector bank employee unions have deferred their fourday strike proposed from tomorrow. United Forum of Bank Unions
Convener M V Murali said that the strike has been put on hold, as
Indian Banks' Association had assured them that wage issue will
be resolved by the first week of the next month.
