ELDORADO COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION, INC. INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS SHEET FOR NOMINATION PETITION ACQUIRING VALID SIGNATURES To submit a Nomination Petition to the ECIA Board, the petitioner must be a lot owner in “Good Standing” with the ECIA and will be a Member Eligible to Vote in the May, 2015 election, which means he/she is current in paid assessment(s) as of the Date of Record* established by the ECIA Board for this election and has not had his/her rights and privileges suspended. (See Article II, Section 11, Third Amended and Restated Bylaws.) Twenty-five (25) valid signatures are required for a Nomination Petition to be accepted. Therefore, it is highly recommended the Petitioner acquire more than the minimum number of signatures in case some signatures are not valid. Petitioner: the following criteria must be met for a signature to be valid: 1. The petition signer must be a lot owner of record in Eldorado and must be in Good Standing with the Association as of the date he/she signed the petition. All signatures will be validated; 2. Only one owner’s signature per lot will be counted; 3. Owners of multiple properties will qualify for an equal number of signatures; 4. A petition signer may sign one Nomination Petition form per candidate. NOTE: Your Nomination Petition will be accepted as submitted and will be rejected if it lacks 25 valid signatures. The completed Petition is due in the ECIA office on or before 5:00 PM, March 1st or the first following business day. If you have any questions, please contact the ECIA office at 466-4248. CANDIDATE STANDARDS Once your petition is accepted, you are requested to adhere to the following: RESUME′/GOALS –Must be received at the ECIA office by 5:00 PM, March 1st or the first following business day in order to be included in the election package. This should be in the form of electronic submission, CD or USB file storage. The resume′ should include a recent photograph and a brief biography and statement of goals for the community that does not exceed 400 words. SIGNS – Political signs cannot be placed on the community common properties. A candidate may place one sign on his/her personal property and one sign on any private property only with permission from the owner. Signs and political posters are not allowed on highway right-of-way per New Mexico Administrative Code 18.20.5.15. Santa Fe County Public Works’ policy has been to remove signs from the County right-of-way. 1. A candidate may have only one (1) sign per lot. 2. Signs cannot exceed 2 feet x 3 feet. 3. Signs may be posted no earlier than April 1st and must be removed within 72 hours after the completion of ballot counting. LITERATURE – Distribution of literature may include mailings, door-to-door distribution and utilization of the white tubes. However, no literature is to be privately distributed to mailboxes (Federal law) or in any manner that will litter the community. *DATE OF RECORD: Shall mean and refer to the date on which final determination is made of Members Eligible to Vote, in an event which requires voting.
