An email with registration information and registration link will be dispatched via parent information email on Friday, January 23rd. Please register early to avoid disappointment. Enrollment is processed on a first come, first serve basis. Each student is allowed to sign up for two activities: one workshop and one fieldtrip. “Open offers” do not require registration. Workshop & Field Trip Information FILMING WITH A SMARTPHONE rd Grades: 3 and older Participants: 12 nd rd th th th Date & Time: February 02 , February 3 , February 4 , February 5 , February 6 2015 / 10.00am- 12.00pm CCEP Teachers: Sigrid Oberer & Stefanie Gross The first two days of this workshop will involve learning how to frame a shot, panning, lighting, and mise-en-scene. We will be filming primarily inside the school, but will also take short field trips to the surrounding neighborhood. Our main focus will be improvising with various equipment, such as tripods and lights, as well as shooting at uncommon angles and perspectives. In order to keep it relatively simple, we will also concentrate exclusively on picture and not sound. The final two days we will be shooting and editing a short scene together. Note: Students should bring their own smartphone with full battery and enough memory to shoot some sequences and a cable for downloading the clips. Although cameras can be borrowed as well, these will be traditional photo cameras with a movie option. It is highly recommended that students who enroll attend the workshop every day. In this workshop, students will learn how to fashion their own adorable sock dolls to share secrets with or to just have nearby in case they need a hug. Note: Please bring some socks with you - ideally size 31 to 38, color of your own preference. JEWELRY DESIGN FOR BOYS OR GIRLS Grades: All Grades Participants: 12 nd rd th th th Date & Time: February 02 , February 3 , February 4 , February 5 , February 6 2015 / 10.00am- 12.00pm CCEP Teachers: Marta Erber & Mareike Menthe This workshop is for boys and girls that are interested in creating keys, paper necklaces, origami, and cool buttons. In addition to inspiring creativity, environmental awareness is raised through recycling common objects such as paper and corks. Each day will emphasize the use of different materials. WRITING A BOOK rd Grades: 3 – All Grades Participants: 10 nd rd th th th Date & Time: February 2 , February 3 , February 4 , February 5 , February 6 2015 / 01.00pm- 3.00pm CCEP Teachers: Kira Bosse & Lamin Mbye This workshop is all about imagination! Each student will independently create their own character, complete with a unique appearance and traits. As a group, we will then create a storyline and plot that involve all of the characters. The children will then illustrate the story. At the end of the week, every child will receive a copy of the finished product. MUSIC IS RHYTHM Grades: All Grades Participants: 12 nd rd th th th Date & Time: February 2 , February 3 , February 4 , February 5 , February 6 2015 / 1.00pm- 3.00pm Teachers: Nina Altreuther & Jurate Garbenyte In this workshop, students will learn German and English hand-movement and clapping games, children’s songs, and how to play percussion instruments. They will additionally paint and make small arts and crafts. Through learning these songs and games set to music in both languages, English and German linguistic abilities are promoted in a more meaningful and creative way. At the end of the workshop, each child will create a folder with all the songs, nursery rhymes, and games we learned during the week that you can go on to share with your child at home. BADMINTON Grades: All Grades Participants: 14 nd rd th th th Date & Time: February 2 , February 3 , February 4 , February 5 , February 6 2015 / 1.30pm- 3.30pm Teachers: Anne-Sophie Algermissen & Damjan Majkic In this workshop, students will learn the basics of badminton. Students will begin each day practicing warm-up activities for both beginner and advanced skill levels; afterwards, they will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of games using these new techniques. At the end of the week, there will be a badminton tournament so that the students can apply all that they have learned. Anne-Sophie is has been playing badminton for five years and has experience coaching young children in a badminton club. She will bring this expertise to this workshop. FIELD TRIP INFORMATION GRUNEWALD Grades: All Grades Participants: 15 Date: 02.02.2015 Ready to leave: 9.30am Back to school: 4.00pm Fees: BVG tickets This field trip is a daylong excursion to “Grunewald” in South-West Berlin. Students will explore the forest and have the opportunity to admire all the natural beauty on offer during this winter season. The students will see different lakes, ponds and the large sand hill. Your child needs to bring a backpack with a snack, a drink, and wear both warm and waterproof clothes. It is advisable to also bring a camera and magnifying glass to help them explore. On that day we will have a picnic lunch in the forest. Note: If the weather is too cold or rainy, we will instead visit the Museum of Communication. The entrance to this museum is free. We will be back then at 1.00pm in order to have lunch here at school. ICE SKATING – ERIKA-HESS-SKATING CENTER Grades: All Grades Participants: 12 rd Date: February 3 , 2015 Ready to leave: 9.00am Back to school: 2.00pm Fees: 2,-€ entrance, 4,-€ for renting Ice Skates / BVG tickets Note: For this field trip, please ensure your child has comfortable and warm clothes. We kindly ask you to only enroll your child if he or she has some ice-skating experience and can manage to skate on his or her own. Of course, your child may also bring his or her own ice skates. CLIMBING HALL – KEGEL Grades: All Grades Participants: 12 th Date: February 4 , 2015 Ready to leave: 9.30am Back to school: 3.00pm Fees: 4€ entrance / BVG tickets At the climbing hall Kegel in Berlin Friedrichshain, students will participate in a climbing adventure. Your child can rent climbing shoes for 2,50€, though they can also use their own athletic shoes with a white shoe sole. Your child should also bring a backpack with food and a drink. Important: In order for your child to participate, permission forms must be signed by parents and/or guardians and given to CCEP Instructors. CINEMA SONY CENTER nd Grades: 2 - All Grades Participants: 15 th Date: February 5 , 2015 Ready to leave: 11.00am Back to school: 2.00pm Fees: 7€ entrance / BVG Ticket The cinema at Potsdamer Platz – otherwise known as the Sony Center – shows movies for children in English. We will to visit to see a film between 11.00am and 2.00pm. The movie will be a surprise and age-appropriate. PLANETARIUM– “ADVENTURE PLANETARY” Grades: All Grades Participants: 15 th Date: February 5 , 2015 Ready to leave: 10.00am Back to school: 4.00pm Fees: 3€ entrance / BVG tickets We will visit the planetarium and receive a tour of space from a resident astronomy expert. We will also join the show “Adventure Planetary,” which begins at 12.00pm.
