Notice of Election of the ESE President and ESE Executive Committee members in 2015
As a membership society ESE offers the opportunity to all members to nominate
candidates for the ESE President and Executive Committee. I am writing to invite you to
make nominations for the ESE President and 2 Executive Committee posts that will be
due for election in 2015.
Firstly, I would like to inform you that the current Treasurer, Richard Ross, is due to retire
in 2015. However, the Executive Committee will make a proposal at the Annual General
Meeting on 19 May 2015 to extend his term of office for one year. This is in order to allow
a handover period to the incoming Treasurer, Bulent Yildiz.
Therefore the members of the Executive Committee who will retire in 2015 are:
Philippe Bouchard, France – ESE President
Pia Burman, Sweden (Clinical) – ESE Executive Committee member
Ilpo Huhtaniemi, UK (Basic Scientist) – ESE Executive Committee member
Nominations for President should be for an endocrinologist who has, among other
qualities, an impressive research reputation and is of great international stature.
For the Executive Committee, members are asked to respect the nominations for 1 basic
and 1 clinical position.
All nominations should reflect a balance of geographical location, gender, basic and
clinical interests and the different specialties in endocrinology. The current Executive
Committee, together with details of their terms of office, geographical location and main
fields of expertise, is shown on page 2.
Important information:
The closing date for nominations to be received is Friday 19 December 2014. In
accordance with the ESE Byelaws each voting member may make one nomination for
each vacancy. The nomination form is to be completed in full and contain supporting
information, such as brief curriculum vitae, a summary of the nominee’s contributions
within the field of endocrinology and a declaration signed by the nominee of his or her
willingness to stand for election. Please note that to be eligible for election candidates
must be nominated by at least two paid-up ESE members.
In order to submit a nomination, please obtain a nomination form from [email protected] or via the ESE website at www.ese-hormones.org. Form A will be required for
the ESE President and Form B for the Executive Committee member nominations.

have submitted their nominations.
All nominations will be reviewed by the ESE Nominations Committee who, taking into account the balance of
the Executive Committee in terms of geographical location, subject speciality, basic or clinical focus and
gender, will propose a final list of candidates to the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee will make
the final decision on the list of selected candidates to be put forward to the members for election.
