Holiday Wishes 2014
A big thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Holiday Wishes Program. Take a look at this
letter sent from Mary Foley at Lutheran Social Services:
I wish you and your donors could have been here to see the surprise and gratitude on the faces of our clients. They are always caught off guard by how generous complete strangers can be. The foster families are
so appreciative of the extra help at this time of year as they don't get any additional funds to provide Christmas gifts for their foster children.
One of our families has 6 children and the youngest has been at CHOW since birth with heart complications.
They have had no time to think about Christmas shopping and they had tears in their eyes as they loaded
the gifts and then headed off to spend another day at the hospital. You have no idea how much this meant
to them.
Please pass our thanks on to all your donors.
Have a Merry Christmas!
With much gratitude,

Northshore Newcomer’s Preschool Preview 2015
Community Preschool of Whitefish Bay (2,3,4)
http://www.communitypreschoolwfb.com/
5655 N. Lake Drive - (lower level of Christ Church)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------“Community Preschool has been a wonderful experience for my youngest two children. It is a co-op,
which means parents are required to help in the classroom about 4 times per year. This has been so
nice because it gives us a chance to see the kids interact with their friends, the teachers and the
environment. It's also special because those days are your child's "special person" days where they are
the special person who helps the teachers with the science project, etc. The day starts outside or in the
large muscle room and goes to circle time, a science project or matching/counting game, calendar, free
play, art project, snack then a story to close the day.
My favorite part of Community Preschool is that it's just that- a community. The teachers make a trip
to the home early in the year for a teacher playdate and the kids LOVE that! I cannot say enough
about the teachers...they are so kind, patient and enthusiastic!
There are also several fun committees to sign up for, parent coffees and mom's nights out throughout
the year.” - Nancey Gerard, NSNC Member

indoor play areas are the nicest I have ever seen. St. Francis also serves as a Birth-to-Three center, so
classrooms are inclusive and sometimes have speech therapists, occupational therapists, and physical
therapists in the classrooms. Our child's favorite part of his school day was eating breakfast with his

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------"St. John offers full-day childcare in addition to a school for children through eighth grade. Our son is
in the 3K classroom, and his class is an even mix of students who attend preschool and those who stay
all day for childcare. The basis of the school's curriculum is religious and is presented in a thoughtful,
kid-friendly way. Our son looks forward to his weekly lesson in the Church's chapel, and loves to tell us
simple Bible stories. The class also has a strong academic curriculum, and we have been impressed by
the amount of time devoted to the alphabet, letter writing, and basic math. We love the teachers who
teach in the 3K and 4K classrooms almost as much as our son is enamored with them. We are very
happy that we found this school." - Kellie Freeze, NSNC Member

play and be free of technology in the classroom when they are so young. Learning through physically
exploring natural materials and the outdoors. My daughter makes soup and rolls with her class every
Thurs. for lunch. They cut, measure, set the table, wash dishes, and learn polite manners just from one
little part of her day. They go on hikes and make beautiful crafts, she is so excited to go to school.” Serena Weits, NSNC Member

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------“The Preprimary division of University School of Milwaukee offers Pre Kindergarten to students age 3,
Junior Kindergarten to students age 4, and Senior Kindergarten to students age 5. Our daughter had
an excellent first school experience at one of our local church preschools. Because she has a fall
birthday, she could not attend K4 last year so we looked for another school. University School’s Pre
Kindergarten program fit her needs (and ours) perfectly. She attended school five mornings a week.
USM’s Pre Kindergarten is very flexible offering programs for three mornings, five mornings, five
mornings and two afternoons, and five full days a week. Junior Kindergarten options are five
