The first Cedar Rapids Skywalk connection
was completed in 1963, making the Cedar
Rapids system the second oldest in the
country. The Cedar Rapids system services
40 buildings downtown.
The current signage dates from 1987
, though many different styles can be
identified due to several updates over the
past 27 years. In most cases, the signage is
confusing, outdated, or inaccurate.
Visitors to this popular area should expect
to see the complete installation of updated,
accurate signage and maps throughout the
Skywalk System in the coming weeks.

BMW announces new
technology that will
allow car to park itself
Car manufacturer BMW plans to unveil
its newest technology for their i3 car
series. The fully electric car will also come
equipped with a feature that would enable
the vehicle to find a parking spot, park
itself, and then return to its owner.
The Remote Valet Parking Assistant is
a smartwatch app that reacts to vocal
commands using state-of-the-art laser
scanners and mapping technology to drive
itself, as well as identify and respond to
hazards such as other cars and pedestrians.

We wish you a happy and safe New Year!
See you in 2015!
‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house,
no computer was stirring, not even a mouse; the stockings
were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St.
Nicholas soon would be there. The workers were nestled all
snug in their beds, while visions of bonuses danced in their
heads.
When atop the parkade, there arose such a clatter, I sprang
from my bed to see what was the matter. And what to my
wondering eyes should appear, but a miniature sleigh and
eight tiny reindeer, with a little old driver so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick. More rapid than
Cedar Rapids, his coursers they came, and he whistled and
shouted and called them by name:
“Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now Parker and Vixen! On
Comet! on Cupid, on Council and Blitzen!” From the top of
5 Seasons to the top of each wall, now, dash away! dash
away! dash away all!”
As I drew in my head and was turning around, he threw tons
of presents all over Downtown. And as the nicest of hosts will
leave their own stamp, he flitted and flew to each parking
ramp. From avenues to streets, from bridges to rivers, I
watched through the cold air, with laughter and shivers.
Over coffee and candy and gift shops, galore; restaurants
and ale houses, businesses and more! Tantamount at
Paramount? Near and far at T.C.R.? U.S. Cell? Well, who
could tell? But from the looks, all was quite well.
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back, and he looked
like a peddler just opening his pack. His sleek little sled was
as smooth as a boat, and the whiskers on his chin, were as
white as Quaker Oats.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, then
covered the City, then turned with a jerk. And laying
his finger aside of his nose, and giving a nod, by the
Courthouse, he rose. And as his reindeer were prancing
in playful defiance, he whistled to his team at Economic
Alliance.
But I heard him exclaim, where he drove out of sight,
“Happy Parking to all, and to all a Good night! ...Ho, Ho,
Ho! Merry Christmas!”
