Chapter Directors’ Message
Dianne and Steve Lilley
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
With a new year underway we will be celebrating our 20th Anniversary for the Chapter. Over
the next few months we will be having some special speakers coming to our breakfast. I have
already mentioned that the speaker for January will be Bruce Smith who was the Chapter
Director who started it all. The kickoff was in August so we are making plans for a celebration
at that time.
There were 27 (more or less) people who enjoyed the dinner for our social night at the
Malibu restaurant on Dundas Street on December 14th. Then 23 people enjoyed the ride
around London the view the Christmas lights with our last stop being at the Brighton’s where
Santa and Mrs. Claus toured the bus and handed out candy canes and wished everyone a
Merry Christmas. One lucky little girl had the pleasure of handing Santa one of his favorite
desserts, mincemeat pie. I would like to thank Stephen and Diana Brighton for organizing the
lights tour.
The Bake Sale was a great success again this year with over $200.00 made for the Chapter.
There was a rumor going around that some people came just for the bake sale. I hope everyone
enjoyed their baked goods.
Our breakfast will be in a different room for January. I’m not sure which one it will be in.
We’ll have to watch for the posting.

Social Night for January 31: Bus to Niagara Falls

*********************************************************
Well not much happening with Rider Ed this time of year but we hope that everyone got their fill
of turkey and had a great holiday season with family and friends.
The Chapter Christmas bus tour was a great time. We had 27 people come out to the Malibu
for a great dinner. The service and food was enjoyed by all. We had 25 members go on the
Christmas lights tour and from what I hear, it was a great time.
We want to put on a seminar sometime at the end of February – beginning of March. This is a
great opportunity to learn something new about how to ride safe. They say that you are never
too old to learn and we believe that.
We have been speaking with other chapters around our area about teaming up with their
Chapters and putting on a PLP (Parking Lot Practice) and an ARC (Advanced Riding Course)
this year. More information will follow once we get a date and location. Again we would need at
least 6 bikes to participate in order to put the course on. If you are interested in taking the PLP
or ARC, just let us know.
Remember, Be Safe Out There Because “Riding is For Life”.
Chapter “S” Clothing
By Susan McGregor
Last year we ordered new shirts for those who wanted them and I have 2 shirts left over.
Both have the 10” GWRRA crest on the back and the 4” Forest City Wings crest on the left front.
One shirt is the Ladies style Coal Harbour shirt, size large, at $30.10 (there is no name on the
left sleeve hence the lower price). The other shirt is the Men’s Gildan shirt, size extra-large, with
the 2 crests on it but again no name on the sleeve, at $22.69. I will bring them to the next
breakfast for you to try on if you would like to buy one.
Several people have expressed interest in buying the jacket that was talked about in
November’s newsletter. We need a minimum order of 6 to start. The Chapter has offered to
cover the set-up costs which include the 10” GWRRA crest on the back and the ‘Chapter “S”
London’ logo on the left chest front. The cost per jacket is $85.00 plus HST. If you want your
name on the right chest front it is $5.00 plus HST extra. Oversize 2XL – 5XL is an additional
cost of $10.00 plus HST. Below is a description of the jacket. I am in the process of acquiring
one of the jackets for myself. I hope to bring the sizing chart, the jacket and a tape measure to
the February breakfast for those who are interested in buying one.
Nylon Crew Jacket with Fleece Lining
