Mt Carlton Overview Evolution Mining is currently the fourth largest ASX listed gold mining company in Australia and is forecast to produce between 400,000oz and 450,000oz gold equivalent in FY2014. It is also the number one gold mining company in Queensland. In FY2014 it is expected to produce between 315,000oz and 355,000oz gold equivalent from its four Queensland assets. Mt Carlton is expected to be the lowest cost mine in Evolution’s portfolio from FY2014, with average annual payable gold equivalent production of approximately 70,000oz at a C1 cash of <A$700 - A$750/oz. 150 km south of Townsville Gold, silver and copper Arlene Rofe – General Manager +61 7 4422 0100 Location: Producing: Site management: Mine Site contact number: History Small leases pegged over the Mt Carlton United prospect, hand picked copper ore shipped to Mt Isa for processing 1960s 1970s Ashton Mining applied for EPMs over Clarke Range area, covering Mt Carlton 1980s BHP drilled tested epithermal and porphyry targets on the mining lease area Gold Fields Australia joint ventured into the MIM tenements while exploring the Crush Creek prospect 1990s 2003 MIM exploration joint ventured into the Ashton mining tenements, and discovered Herbert Creek East deposit 100% acquired by MIM Discovery of V2 mineralisation 46m grading 9.11g/t Au, 68g/t Ag, 1.1% Cu 2006 2007 Conquest purchased 100% of the Mt Carlton tenements from Xstrata (following Xstrata takeover of MIM) April: Pre-feasibility study completed 2009 2010 July: Gold Fields joint venture over regional ground September: Scoping study completed November: Merger of Conquest and Catalpa to form Evolution Mining and concurrent acquisition of 100% of Newcrest assets December: Mining lease granted, Mt Carlton project construction commenced 2011 2012 February: DFS completed November: Optimisation study completed December: Conquest board approved Mt Carlton development March: First concentrate produced April: Official mine opening July: Commercial production commenced 2013 December: Construction completed and commissioning commenced Geology The Mt Carlton project is a high sulphidation epithermal style deposit with mineralisation occurring within felsic volcanic rocks on the northern margin of the Permian Bowen Basin. The project is comprised of gold, silver and copper. The V2 deposit is flat lying and situated 20m to 180m below surface and is 70m thick with a 500m by 500m areal extent. The two deposits are located 200m apart. The two pits utilise conventional drill and blast, load and haul methodologies, mining 5m benches in 2.5m flitches. The A39 pit will have a life of mine strip ratio of 3.3:1. The V2 pit will have a life of mine strip ratio of 2.7:1 and will be mined over nine years. The low grade ore will be stockpiled and processed after depletion of the high grade ore, to be processed post completion of open pit mining.
